Why can't I be like everyone else??

2. Half-Freedom

“Father, do I have to be 18 before I can go outside?”

“Yes, you don’t know how it is outside, it is very dangerous.”

“It doesn’t seem dangerous.”

“All of my friends say it is a wonderful place where you can run and be free!”

“No, It’s a place of torture now get to bed.”

“But, Father!”

“Yes, Father.” Why does he always yell at me? I don’t think I did anything wrong.

“Good Morning, Father.”

“Good Morning, Marissa”

“How, did you sleep?”

“Well, that’s good.”

“What would you like for breakfast?”

“Well, Marissa, I was thinking we could go out for breakfast.”

“You mean go outside?”

“Yes, well, no.”

“We will get in the car and go to a place for breakfast, and then it is a possibility that we may eat outside.”

“I thought you said I couldn’t go outside?”

“Well it will only be this one time, and we will be sitting at a table eating on a patio and I will be with you.”

“Thank you Father so much I can’t wait! I finally get to see the outside world!”
