18. Chapter 18

"The hell are you talking about?" I spit out and Autumn squeezed my hand tighter, trying to keep me from losing my cool. "You are the ones that are never around, and frankly, I'm old enough and have been independent long enough to make my own decisions."

"When we gave you that chance, you made poor decisions," my dad argued, "like bringing a whore home to meet your parents." The word 'whore' tainted my ears and boiled my blood. Autumn did not deserve to be treated this way.

"She's beautiful and stunning, and she's been there for me when you haven't bothered to care about me for three years. I'm in love with her." My head was spinning and I felt as though we were trapped inside a soap opera.

But maybe it was just the spiked punch.

"Luke," my mother tried to reason with me, "You won't even be eighteen until next month, how are you supposed to know what love is?"

I glared at her, venomously spitting out in response, "I know more than you."

"How dare you speak to your mother that way," my dad scolded and I rolled my eyes. He walked closer to Autumn, ripping her away from me. "You're a worthless whore," he spat, causing her beautiful green eyes to look less lively than usual. "You don't deserve my son, and never will. It's best if you leave."

"Don't fucking touch her," I said through gritted teeth and my mother's mouth dropped ten stories.

"Lucas! How dare you use these profanities!"

But my dad was still gripping Autumn's arm and giving her distasteful looks of disgust. "Lucas! Do you see how she dresses?" He shouted, gesturing to the dress she was wearing. It wasn't low cut, but it did come down to just skim her mid-thigh.

"Yes," I argued, "and she looks beautiful." I grabbed her hand, tugging her toward the door and glaring at the parents that did nothing for me except bring me into the world. "Expect my things to be gone by morning, you're both dead to me."

-----

Throughout the entire car ride on the way to my place to pick up my things, Autumn kept tugging at the hem of her dress, trying to pull it down.

"Autumn, stop." I was already irritated enough with the bullshit my parents pulled, I didn't need my girlfriend to believe it, too.

"But Luke..."

"Seriously, stop." I snapped, my sight staying focused on the road ahead of me. She stopped tugging at her dress, looking outside of the window. I immediately felt bad for yelling at her. "Autumn?"

She didn't answer. She was focused on looking outside of the window--and although her weeps were silent, I could tell that she had tears streaming down her cheeks.

I pulled over in the nearest gas station, putting the car in park and unbuckling. "Baby? I love you. I'm sorry," I entwined our fingers, waiting for her to acknowledge me.

"I love you too," she mumbled quietly and I frowned.

"Don't listen to my dad. You're really beautiful, and amazing, and you look drop dead sexy in that dress," I chuckled, gaining a small smile from her.

She was smiling widely now, immediately capturing my lips in a searing kiss.

"I don't want you to go," she mumbled through the kiss.

"Don't worry, love," I reassured her, "I'm staying right here."

-----

I woke up the next morning in Autumn's apartment. I was on her bed, and she was nowhere to be seen. I quickly sat up, ignoring the migraine I had from lack of sleep, "Autumn?"

"Hm?" She walked out of the bathroom with her toothbrush sticking out of her mouth. I chuckled at her, climbing out of bed and walking over to her.

"I love you," I mumbled, kissing her on the cheek.

"I love you too," she spoke through a toothpaste filled mouth; although, it sounded as if she was conjuring up demons. She walked back into the bathroom at the same time I left to go to the living room. There were boxes everywhere. It was a good thing Demi and Michael found a place together, because I was moving in with Autumn.

I began to unpack boxes, and move them into the other bedroom.

"Luke?" Autumn called.

"I'm in her!" I called back, hoping she would know where 'here' was.

"Why are you moving into this bedroom?" She asked, and I knitted my eyebrows.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, my bed is big enough for the both of us..." She trailed off and I chuckled.

"Does it now?"

"Mhm."

"You know what I think?" I grinned evilly as I wrapped my arms around her waist. "I think you have a crush on me."

She jokingly gasped as I winked at her. "Lucas Robert Hemmings, are you--" She began, but I didn't give her time to finish as I cut her off with my lips.

After we pulled apart, I spoke up, leaving a widely stretched grin across her face. "Here, help me take these boxes into your room."

And as she smiled her million dollar smile, I was ever so grateful that my heart was the bank.
