5. So Many Secrets

Chapter Five-- So Many Secrets

I wake up in a hospital room.

"Where am-"

While I'm in mid-sentence a woman runs in with a bottle of purple pills. She puts one in my mouth.

Instantly the pain I felt was gone.

"What was th-"

"Don't talk." She interrupts.

I nod.

She pulls out a clipboard.

"Sign here." She says.

I grab the clipboard and I look back up at her.

"Code of silence. You cannot speak of the event that you just encountered." She says.

More secrets.

I sign it unwillingly.

"Crestant doesn't remember any of this," she clicks the pen and puts it in her pocket, "And he won't."

"How am I alive?" I ask.

"I thought I said not to talk." She says.

"Well I want to know..." I mumble.

She takes a deep breath.

"You idiotic locks can't take no. We gave you a green pill. It closed up all internal organs you cut." I nod.

"Why the purple-"

She puts another paper in my face.

"Sign this. You cannot talk about the pills."

I sigh and sign it.

In about two hours I was released.

I go home and Crestant is waiting for me.

"Where were you?!" He asks angry.

"I went out for a walk." I mumble.

I start to walk into the house but he grabs my arm, hard.

"Hazel, I don't know who you think you are, but you are a lock! I'm your key! You don't leave without me knowing." He getting angrier, I could tell he was getting more mad by how tight his grip on my arm was, and this was a HARD grip.

"You're hurting me..." I say.

He looks down at my arm wrapped with his hand and he let go.

I rubbed where he had squeezed my arm, it was dark red.

"I'm sorry.." He said.

I slapped him.

"I am a lock I know, but I'm still a human." I say.

"Keys have more authority, and as the key I can do this." He pushes me into a wall.

I make a fist and I bang it against the wall.

Locks are never to hit their key. But it's okay for keys to hit their lock...

He pulls my hair and I grab his arm stopping him.

"You can't touch me I'm your key." He says.

"You are not my key!" I yell.

His eyes grow, and he drops my hair. His hand falls to his side.

He looks at me in shock.

"We can't talk about that..." He says.

"Well, you aren't! It's true! You don't love me!" I yell.

He nods, "I-I do.."

"No! If you loved me you wouldn't have hit me!" I yell.

Tears fill his eyes and he his eyes and he hugs me.

"I'm so sorry. I was just so upset I thought you had left me and wen you came back I just," he tightens his hug, "I just didn't know what I could do."

I don't hug him back...

I didn't do anything. I stood there as his tears soaked my shoulder, and wondered how many lies he had told in that moment.
