Too Close

Becca is a 17 year old girl from Washington, but when she leaves her hometown with her dad to start over in a place she's always dreamed of, will it love up to expectation?

14. Second Star to the Right

Sam's POV

She kissed me. Becca just kissed me!

I'm so happy. Like you have no idea.

It sent fireworks all through me, it was just perfect.

I stand there a while longer just holding her around the waist.

"So where do we go from here?" she speaks up after a while.

I smile and look at her; "Well, where do you want to go from here?"

She turns to face me again and kisses me softly.

"I'm not sure to be completely honest. I mean we barely know each other Sammie, and I mean I obviously like you, you're just amazing. But, I also just moved in the other day." she whispers that last part.

I take her hand; "Beck, I like you, a lot. We can take things slow, we can ease into this, if you're not ready right now to be with me I totally understand. But I'll be right here waiting for you when you are." I kiss her forehead and hold her close.

"I have an idea. Now I'm not trying to sound like an asshole here I promise," she starts.

This is probably going to suck for me.

I nod.

"What if we try to see what it's like to be together, just you and I, but until we know for sure it's going to work out between us we don't say anything. I just don't want to be the cause of JC and your friendship breaking up because we don't work out, you know what I'm saying?"

I smile and nod, "That sounds perfect."

She smiles and hugs me.

After a while we hear the guys looking for us, Becca grabs her board and skates down the slide.

I follow her down and ram right into Kian.

"Sorry bro!" I laugh.

We head to the exit of our park and Ricky goes to get in the driver's seat.

"HEEY!! I get to drive!!" Becca whines.

I laugh; "SHOTGUN!!!!"

We all get in our seats and head home.

Kian starts whining in the back seat; "Beccaaaaaaaaaa, I'm hungryyyyyyyyy!"

Then JC starts; "Yeah Beck, I'm starvingggggg!"

Pretty soon the whole car is complaining of hunger.

"Fine guys. One, pick a place. Two, give me directions. And three, stop complaining!!" she laughs.

We all decide on McDonald's because it's closest.

"Who wants what?" Becca asks.

Everyone starts screaming their orders at her.

"OKAY, ONE AT A TIME PLEASE!" She yells trying to take control back.

Everyone shuts up.

"The order will go JC, Kian, Ricky, Sam, and then I'll put in what I want. Got it?" she states.

Damn, no one has ever gotten them to shut up like that.

She's badass.

We pull up to the window and everyone puts their orders in, Becca goes to pay and I put the money out.

Not going to make her pay, that's not fair to her.

We get our food and head back to the house.

Becca's POV

God these guys are crazy about their food.

I tell them they have to wait until we get back to the house before they eat it.

They all whined but they deserve it after that, they're insane!!

I can't help but laugh.

We pull into the familiar neighborhood and reach the driveway. I can't help but look across the street and notice another car in the driveway.

It's probably just another one of my dad's "friends" from work.
He's a manwhore.

We go into the house and I walk right through the house to let the dogs outside, and I go to sit on a lounge chair and look up at the stars.

There are so many. I hadn't really noticed the amount of stars the past few nights.

I close my eyes and think,

~Flashback to August 17, 2004~

"Mommy, mommy! Look at them all!!" I say.

"I see them baby they're beautiful!" she says as she scoops me up and pokes my nose; "Just like my beautiful little girl."

We continue to walk around the camp site.

This was one of our Mommy-Daughter trips.

We would take 3 a year, just to get out of the house and bond.

They're always my favorite memories.

We find a telescope and look up at all of the stars.

She points out the biggest and brightest one.

"Look Becky, it's Neverland!"

I jump up and down all excited,, "Can we go there one day, just you and me?"

"As long as you've got faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust, we'll get there one day!" She smiles.

We head back to our camper and pop a VHS in the TV.

It's our favorite; Peter Pan.

----Who would've guessed?---------

We snuggle together and I fall asleep in her lap.

~End of Flashback~

I feel the tears welling up in my eyes, they run down my face as I look at our star.

Maybe this is why I don't look at the stars often.

It makes me miss her more.

It's been seven years today.

It has not gotten any easier.

I just want to have her back.

I just sit and continue looking up at the stars crying.

Yeah, I cry a lot. Shit happens.

None of us have seen Becca since we got home.

She went out back, we decided to give her some space, but I know her better than that.

She likes her few minutes alone, but give her longer then that and she breaks down.

I walk out and see her looking up at the stars.

She's crying though.

I go up behind her and hug her tight.

She cries into my chest and I rub her back.

"Beck, it's okay, just let it out." I hold her close.

She's told me over and over since we were young how one day her and her mom were going to travel to Neverland.

When we hung out she would point it out in the sky. She'd say "Look Jay! I'll be there one day."

I would just nod and let her believe what she wanted.

I think back to the day that changed Becca forever all the time.

She used to be so happy, now she always looks so sad.

~Flashback to September 15, 2007~

Becca and I were running home from the busstop

She wanted to show her mom her latest Art project, and I was just always over her house, so I followed along.

We walk up to the house and see cars scattered everywhere in the front yard.

"What's going on?" she asks me, I shrug my shoulders and stand right next to her as we walk in the house.

"BECCA!" her dad runs over to her holding her close.

"What's going on Daddy? Why are all these people here?" she's so confused.

"Come with me, JC you too." He says sniffling.

We follow him down the hallway, I have to wait in the hall as Becca, her dad, and brother Liam are all in the room.

All I can hear is crying.

I just as confused as Becca.

She runs out of the room right into my arms; "She's gone JC. My mom, she's gone."

The tears roll down her cheeks, they roll down mine too.

~Flashback over~

***(Ugh, almost couldn't get through that. I cried writing theat whole thing, and it didn't help that Avril Lavigne's "When You're Gone" came on. )***

I just sit there and hug Becca.

There's no worse feeling.

Once she stops crying she stands up and heads inside; "Thank you Jay." she hugs me.

Sam's POV

JC went out there a while ago.

I hope Becca's okay. I know she's been upset,

I see her come inside, her eyes all puffy.

She makes a beeline for me and hugs me tight.

She grabs her food then heads upstairs, Izzy follows behind her.

I hear her door shut and then the music starts blasting.

I just let her sit, and if she needs me, she'll come to me.

Hours later, it has to be like 3 o'clock in the morning, I get a text that wakes me up;

"Please come to my room. I need you. _Beccaaaaaa.x"

"I'll be right there <3 ~Samm"

I walk over to her room and open the door.

I plop down on the bed next to her and just wrap my arms around her tight.

"Thank you." She cries into my chest.

I kiss her forehead and rock her slowly to sleep; "It's not a problem at all."

***A/N Sorry about the sad parts. I honestly was going to make this a really happy chapter. Then I didn't. I cried so much writing those flashbacks. I love and miss my mom everyday, little things like that make me remember her. If any of you are in the same situation and need someone to talk to I'll always be here, you can message me on Facebook. It's Courtney Marie, I'll put the link in my bio. I love you all. Thank you for reading ****
