What the Factions Taught Us

A collection of the lessons we learned from the factions. Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, Candor, and Erudite. These are my opinions and you're free to have your own. Comment and I might add them. Also: May contain spoilers. You have been warned.

2. Dauntless

Dauntless- the brave. (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR FIRST BOOK HERE)

What did Dauntless teach us? That it's possible to jump on a train. Just kidding. Although I am very tempted to try it.

Anyways, the Dauntless taught us about bravery, honor, and daring. Bravery and daring are different- daring can be very dangerous, and could even kill you unnecessarily. Bravery is like self-sacrifice- it's only bravery if it's necessary. As Four *insert fangirly scream* explains it, "There is a fine line between bravery and idiocy."

Honor is a trait that should be important to the Dauntless, I think anyways. Honor is showing mercy to lesser opponents, having a conscience, being trustworthy, and loyalty. Initiation seems to discourage this, but we can still learn from them.

Dauntless also makes us start to think about our actions. Al's jump into the chasm, Tris's flight to see her brother, Will's death, and the simulation really make us think twice. You have a free will- enjoy it and use it carefully.
