Why did Maleficent bestow her 'gift' on Princess Briar Rose? Some believe there is a reason for everything, but no one has asked for one in the case of Maleficent, the mistress of all evil, as that's what she was regarded as. There is a time to blame. There is a time to curse. There is a time to find out the truth of Maleficent.

A different take on the story of Sleeping Beauty, giving a reason for Maleficent's 'evil.'

15. Sunlight

"Sunlight! She loved sunlight!" Screamed the Red Fairy, and she rushed to the window and threw back the curtains. Almost immediately, sunlight fell onto the Princess and she began to rise as the light surrounded her. Her hair turned golden and her eyes were bright again, as they opened. The Princess was alive again.

The fairies laughed with glee as did the Princess. Feeling a surge of power, the Princess ran to her balcony, to let the Sunlight reign of the kingdom. The light did spread as the Princess through her arms into the air, and the land was cleansed, as the prophecy foretold.

The fairies however had worked out what would happen next, and tried to stop the young Princess from running forward. Everybody that the Princess saw before her below the balcony erupted into a burst of gold light, and they died. The Princess' face fell as she realised that the land had been cleansed and all those with a shred of evil in their heart had vanished. Including Maleficent and Stefan.

The kingdom was cleansed of all evil, and where the evil died rose's sprung up in bright red shades like blood, and Maleficent's thorns disappeared.
