The Only One

Two teenagers quickly become tangled up in the world of wizards and witches, but as enemies strike and relationships are lost, the world of magic comes crashing down; taking everything and everyone down with it.

11. Tom Riddle's Diary

*Hermione's POV*

Jealousy was an unusual feeling for me. I liked to pretend nothing bothered me and that I was always strong. Although, that really wasn't the case.

Draco. Draco Malfoy. The boy everyone is warned about. Don't get too close to him. He's bad news. He parents work for Voldemort. My parents told me to stay away from him, and I did…until now. There was something about him that intrigued me, and it wasn't just his handsome looks. It was his witty personality. His dark and perplexing way of thinking. I liked it. It was different.

Then there was Harry, my best friend. Harry is the nicest person i've ever met. He's warm and makes me feel secure. I could tell him anything and he wouldn't judge me. Our relationship is easy and natural, like it always has been.

Seeing Draco and Maggie curled up together laughing cause my stomach to flip. They had a deep passion for each other, something i longed for.

"Hey, you guys can go to sleep now. It's our turn for watch out." Harry says, approaching them.

"I'm exhausted.." Maggie says laughing. "Good luck" She smiles, and they walked over to where the sleeping bags were set up.

"Are they dating or something?" Ron asks, once we were out of hearing.

"I don't know, looks like it." Harry says nonchalantly.

I cringe.

"Are you okay?" Harry asks placing his hand on my arm. I immediately felt a shock run through me, causing me to forget about Draco and Maggie.

"Er..Yeah…Fine." I say shrugging.

"What happens now?" Ron says, after a few moments of silence.

"What?" I look at him confused.

"I mean, do we just keep running? What about the Horocruxes?" Ron says.

Harry blinks, taken back a Ron's sudden rage.

"I don't know. Dumbledore told us to keep moving. I'd like to think that he already has people trying to fine the Horocruxes, but I don't know." Harry says.

"Yeah, Dumbledore said that, but what is running doing? Nothing. We should be destroying Horocruxes, while running." Ron says.

"I'm sure we're all thinking that Ron, but its not that easy. We have no idea where to start, and how do we destroy them?" I say.

"We could figure it out. Travel by apparition to Hogwarts and sneak into the library, get books, and head off." Ron states eagerly.

"It could work…" I say more to myself than them.

"Ron you're brilliant. Lets talk to everyone when they wake up." Harry says.

*Anna's POV*

I wake up curled next to Daniel and smile to myself.

"Morning." I say to Harry, Hermione, and Ron. They were sitting by the tree stomp, on guard.

"You slept well, I presume." Harry says smirking.

"Shut up." I hide my flush. Hermione and Ron chuckle.

"So Ron came up with a brilliant idea last night." Hermione says.

"How about we sneak into the Hogwarts library, find books about anything to do with Voldemort's Horocruxes and then we go destroy them." Ron says, boasting.

"That's crazy. We're never going to be able to sneak into Hogwarts. Someone is bound to see us, and tell everyone" I say.

"Not if we're invisible." Harry says, with a mischievous grin on his face.

"I have a cloak of invisibility. Only two of us can fit, but that should be enough. The rest can wait outside." Harry suggests.

"I guess it's worth a try, I mean, what could go wrong?" I say sarcastically.

"Exactly." Ron smiles.

Draco, Maggie, and Daniel soon awake and we inform them about the plan.

"I'm totally in. That sounds awesome." Daniel says with an excited gleam in his eyes.

Maggie and Draco like the plan too, so we get ready to leave.

"Who's going to come with me?" Harry asks.

"I think Hermione should, since she probably knows the most about these Horocruxes." I suggest.

"Oh, okay." She blushed and smiles, mouthing a thank you to me.

We travel by apparition to the Hogwarts, and hide behind a bush to stay out of site from the guards. They had professors and giants guarding every entrance to Hogwarts.

"Ready?" Harry asked Hermione.

"As ready as I'll ever be." She says, sending a reassuring smile to us all. I noticed that her eyes lingered on Draco a little longer than everyone else. Maggie seemed to notice it too, because I felt her tense next to me.

"See you guys soon." Harry says before pulling out his clock and wrapping it around Hermione and him. In a second, they were completely invisible. The only thing noticeable was the sound of their footsteps on the leaves and branches.

*Hermione's POV*

"We should take the back entrance." I whisper to Harry.

"Good Idea." We stayed away from the giants and professors, just incase they heard our footsteps.

Once we reached the back entrance we came to a problem.

"How are we going to actually get inside? You know…like open the door without someone seeing." Harry whispers to me.

"Yeah, that could be a problem."

"I have an Idea." I say

"Alohamora!" I whisper and point my wand towards the door.

"What is this nonsense? Fred?! George?!" A professor screams, running inside. I hold in my chuckles at her assuming it was Ron's brothers, the Weasley twins.

"Cmon!" I whisper violently to Harry.

We run inside just before the door slammed shut.

The castle looked the same, the halls were for the most part empty due to the time, but a few professors walked by, completely oblivious to us.

We headed to the library and walked over to the restricted section.

Due to the fact we only had one cloak, we couldn't split up, but we searched every aisle.

"Harry, this is useless." I said, sighing as i book yet another book back in it's place.

Most of the books were about powerful dark lords, defence against dark arts, but nothing to do with Voldemort or Horocruxes.

"I kn- Hey wait…I think I see something…" Harry says picking up a book.

We both Gasp.

In scribbly handwriting, Tom Riddle's Diary, was written on the front cover.

"Do you think that it's real?" I ask with excitement.

We flick through the pages, there were entries on every page, the dates were marked, and the handwriting was messy.

"Look's pretty real to me." Harry says grinning.

"That bound to have everything we need to know! Cmon, lets go before we run out of luck." I say, hurrying Harry out of the Library.

"His diary? Thats brilliant!" Ron exclaims when we return to them.

August 7th, 1979

Finally I'm out of the god forsaken place. Hogwarts. It's a prison, but they call it a school? They teach us about potions and how to levitate books, but not how to survive. Most people think when you come of age, you die and go to wherever is beyond that, and i sadly admit I used to be one of those people. Waiting for that day to come, and living my life not wanting to die. But i figured out something that can change everything. I can be immortal, not having to worry about death. I could be the most power wizard in the world, never mind Albus Dumbledore. He will be my first kill. The only thing is I need to "preserve" 8 parts of my soul in objects, objects that you wouldn't think someone would hold their soul in but also something very plain.

Tom Riddle

September 23rd, 1979

Since my last entry I have almost completed all 8 horocruxes. My faithful yet foolish server, Guirinus Quirrell. I tricked him into thinking he was my friend, but I do not have friends. He was so easy to convert. So sad, so gullible. Nagini, my beautiful snake. He never leaves my side, so faithful. Marvolo Gaunt's ring was my third Horocrux…also the resurrection stone, as i've been informed by poor Guirrell. Harry Potter. My very first horocrux, which i suppose is too obvious, but Potter is loved by everyone, no one would ever kill him…meaning they will never kill me. Salazar Slytherin's locket, this one will be hard to destroy…almost impossible. That is all for now.

Tom Riddle

"This is too good." I say.

"It can't be this easy." Ron says.

"It's not" Harry says, closing the book. "The rest of the pages are missing. We're still missing 2 horocruxes, and all of their locations."

"Maybe we can ask someone?" Anna suggests.

"Yeah, but who? Dumbledore?" Maggie replies.

"We could, but we'd have to confess sneaking into Hogwarts." I say.

"No…Snape." Draco says.

"I remember Snape mentioning something about Horocruxes once." He says.

"Are you insane? We are not going to Snape." Maggie exclaims, looking at Draco like he had 4 arms.

"No, it's a good idea…" Ron says, and Draco looks at him surprised that he took his side.

"Ron." Maggie shoots dagger eyes.

"I kinda like that idea too.." Anna says sheepishly.

"Guys, Snape? That guys gives me the creeps." Maggie says.

"You don't have to come if you don't want to." I say, before I could stop myself.

Maggie looks at me confused, and I felt everyone look at me.

"Uh..I mean, if he creeps you out, you don't have to come…I don't want you feel pressured or anything.." I say, forcing a smile.

"I'm okay…" Maggie looks at me with a glare, before turning away. I felt Draco's eyes on me.

"Okay, well lets go then…" Harry says, breaking the silence
