Summer Camp

Ally was wishing for a fun filled summer at home with her friends this summer. But when her parents unexpectedly ship her off to camp, her plans are ruined. She's devastated, and vows to not have fun at camp the whole summer. But then Ally meets Harry, Louis, Zayn, Liam, and Niall, people she would never normally hang out with. They become instant friends. And when Ally falls for one of them, the results are like nothing she ever imagined.

15. Promise Me

"Ally," Lacey says later, when we're back at camp surrounding a small fire. "Yeah?" I reply. "How did you know from your dream to look for Niall at the hospital?" she asks. That had been bothering me too. "I don't know," I admit. "It's actually really weird. Maybe it was just a coincidence." Lacey shrugs. "Maybe." I can tell she doesn't believe me, and I wonder what she's thinking. "Are you sure you didn't know where Niall was the whole time?" Emma says skeptically. "I swear, I didn't know!" I tell her. "He didn't tell me he was sick." Liam nods, agreeing with me. "He told me he didn't want to tell her right away, so there's no way she knew," he comments, shooting down Emma's notion in a second. I smile gratefully at Liam. He smiles back. "I'm going to bed," Harry says and Louis, Zayn, and Aubree agree and they all head off. "Are you going to see Niall tomorrow?" Liam says, looking at me. "I was planning on it," I tell him. "Why?" Liam shakes his head. "Just wondering." Everyone is acting a little weird tonight, and I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's the shock of Niall being sick. I'm shocked too, but I'm not acting weird. Or am I? I say I'm going to bed too and depart. I need to sleep tonight so I'm awake when I see Niall tomorrow. Maybe he'll kiss me.

I cautiously push open the door of Niall's hospital room with Liam right behind me. "Hey," Niall says when we walk in, his face brightening considerably. I give him a quick hug and sit down on the foot of the bed. "How do you feel?" I ask. "Not so good," Niall replies. "But you made me feel a little better." He winks at me. Liam laughs. "What does that medicine do to you?" he jokes. "I should probably warn you," Niall adds, "I might throw up while you're here, so if that grosses you out, fair warning." I shrug. "Nah, I don't really care. I just care about you getting better." Liam stands. "I'm going to get food from the cafeteria. You guys want anything?" I think for a second. "Coffee, please," I say, tossing some money at him. "I'm good," Niall says. Liam leaves and I'm all alone with Niall. "Please tell me you're gonna be okay," I say pleadingly, a tear streaking down my cheek. He pauses, looks around the room, and then looks back at me. "I can't guarantee anything, Ally," he says slowly, deliberately. I start to cry harder. "Niall, please. You have to promise me you'll be okay!" I'm sobbing now. "Shhh," he soothes me. I lay down next to him and he puts his arm around me and strokes my hair until Liam comes back. "Am I interrupting something?" he asks. I take my coffee and thank him. "I have to get back to camp anyway," Liam says, checking the time. "I'll see you tomorrow." When he's gone, I begin to cry again. "Ally, Ally," Niall says quietly in my ear. "I promise I'll be okay. I promise." I can't stop crying, so Niall keeps his arm around me until I fall asleep next to him.
