I wait silently in the waiting room with Liam, Kat, Aubree, Louis, and Harry. Kat sighs occasionally, her face puckered with worry, and Louis stares fixedly at his hands. Harry's arm is slung casually around Louis' shoulders, Aubree is playing a game on her phone, and Liam absentmindedly running his hands through his hair. Every one of us looks upset and apprehensive. Finally, the doctor arrives. "Are any of their families here yet?" he asks us. "No," Louis says. "They're on their way though." The doctor nods. "They'll all make it, but they all have some injuries that we need to take care of before they can go home." He goes on to explain that Emma has a broken leg, and a broken collarbone. "She'll be sore, but okay," the doctor comments. Lacey has two broken ribs, and Zayn has some bruises and a concussion. "The one we want to keep an eye on the most is Zayn, because of his concussion. Just to make sure his head is okay. I'll be back when their parents arrive." When he leaves, we all breathe out an audible sigh of relief. After a few minutes of awkward silence and exchanged glances, I say, "I'm going up to Niall." Everybody just nods, knowing we'll want to be alone, and for that I'm grateful. When I enter Niall's room, he's sleeping but when I close the door, he opens his eyes. "Ally! You're back!" Seeing my grim expression, he asks me what's wrong. I tell him all about the car accident, and how they were on their way to see him. I tell him their injuries, and I explain that the doctor wants to keep an eye on Zayn. When I'm done, Niall lowers his gaze down to the blankets on the bed. "They were coming so see me," he whispers. I immediately know what he's thinking. "Don't even think it's your fault, Niall James Horan. It is most certainly not your fault," I say fiercely. "I didn't say anything about it being my fault," Niall says, fake pouting. "I know, but I could tell you were thinking it," I reply and sit down next to him. We're hushed for a minute, and then Niall says, "Four of us in the hospital at once. It seems like a nightmare." I sniffle back my tears and say, "It is a nightmare." Without warning, the door opens, and two people that I've never seen before walk in. "Ally, these are my parents," Niall tells me. I introduce myself and his mom smiles at me. "So you're the famous Ally." I blush and avert my gaze. "Should I leave?" I ask. "No," Niall says. "We don't mind," Niall's dad responds. "Could I talk to you in the hall for a moment?" asks his mom. "Sure," I say, standing up and following her out. "You've been really good to Niall," she starts. "And I'm very grateful for that. He can't stop talking about you..." she pauses. "The doctors aren't sure if he'll make it this time, Ally. I'm sorry. I just thought you should know." Her voice is thick with tears. The news stuns me. Liam mentioned something like that, but I didn't know the doctors thought he wouldn't make it. I swallow, trying not to cry. "Thank you for telling me," I say politely. "Of course, dear," she says. "Could you tell Niall I'll be right back?" I nod and she scurries off in the direction of the bathrooms. When I enter Niall's room again, the mood is more somber. I stay for another hour, talking with Niall and his parents before I have to go. "I'll be here tomorrow," I say as I leave. As I walk down the hall, the only thing I can think is, I might be here tomorrow, but will he be here, too?
