My eyes fly open when there's a furious pounding on the door. "What the...?" Emma says, rolling over and rubbing her eyes groggily. "I don't know," I reply, reluctantly swinging my legs over the side of the bed and standing up. The pounding continues, insistent. "I'm coming," I grumble unhappily, and open the door. My mood changes instantly when I see Niall standing there, a grin on his face. "Niall!" I exclaim, flying into his arms. "How...why...?" I stutter, unable to manage a sentence. He kisses me on the cheek and says, "The doctor said I could come back to camp for now, until I need treatment again." I can't stop smiling and Emma joins us at the door. "You look pretty banged up," Niall says to Emma, looking at her cast. She nods. "It sucks. But how are you?" Niall shrugs. "I feel better than I have in a long time," he says, winking at me. Then I remember how I probably look, having just gotten up from bed, and I grimace and start to feel self conscious. "What's wrong, Ally?" Niall asks, seeing my expression. I gesture despairingly at my clothes and hair. "You woke me up," I say. "I'm sorry," he says. "I wanted to get here as soon as possible." I hug him again. "I'm glad you did." Having Niall's arms around me this early morning gives me hope that this might be a good day. "I'll let you get ready," Niall tells me and Emma. "I'm going to Liam's cabin." I nod. "I'll meet you there soon." Niall smiles at me once more before turning and heading off in the direction of Liam's cabin. I practically dance around the cabin getting ready, I'm so happy. Emma grins at my behavior and lightly punches me in the arm. "I'm glad you're happy," she comments. "You've seemed so down lately." I can't help but agree. I've probably been a huge downer on the group. "Thanks," I say. "And sorry for my outburst last night. I just still can't believe what Kat said." Emma sighs and shakes her head. "Me neither," she admits. "It was so insensitive." I dress in my cutest outfit and put my hair in a bun. When I look in the mirror, I feel pretty. "Are you coming?" I ask Emma before leaving to meet Niall. "Nah, I'll let you two be alone for a little while. I'll catch up with you guys later," she says. I say goodbye and start the walk to Liam's cabin. The sun seems to shine extra brightly this morning, and I can't keep the smile off my face. Halfway to Liam's cabin, I see Niall. I run up to him. "I had to see you now," he tells me, laughing a little. "I couldn't wait in his cabin any longer." We walk around aimlessly for an hour or so, just talking. Then, all of a sudden, Niall grows serious. "What's wrong with Kat?" I stop walking, confused. "Huh?" I say. "Liam clammed up when I asked how she was. Is she okay?" I start to feel a little angry at Kat again, but I push it down and take a deep breath. I tell Niall what she said. When I'm done, Niall seems stunned. "I'm sorry," I say weakly. "It's not your fault," Niall replies, and then refuses to talk about it anymore. At lunch, Lacey leans over to me. "Ally, can I talk to you?" she asks. "Sure," I say, smiling at her. "Zayn, um, likes you," Lacey whispers, getting right to the point. "What?" I say, setting my water down. "He likes me?" Lacey nods. "He was going to ask you out, and then Niall came back. I thought you knew. He acts different around you." Just then, Zayn nudges me on the shoulder and tells me some stupid joke. I laugh lamely, and turn back to Lacey. "Can't you see?" she tells me. "He likes you." After lunch, I must be quiet because Niall asks me what's wrong. The whole story gushes out, and his face tightens in anger. He starts to walk away in the direction of the lake where Zayn is with Liam, Harry, and Louis. "No, Niall!" I say, grabbing his arm in attempt to hold him back. He shakes me off, and continues toward the lake. Scared what Niall might do, I run after him. I thought this would be a relaxing day with Niall, but with this new information, that's obviously not going to happen.
