3. Chapter 3
"Babe come on. We will surely be late if you don't hurry up soon." There was a hint of doubt in her body language. "Do I really have to go? I mean she hasn't really ever taken care of me before. I mean, why does she suddenly want to meet me? And even if she does, I don't have to. She left me alone. Not the other way round." I know it's going to be hard to get her ready and agree to do this. But I really can't blame her. That was a pretty crappy thing to do actually. "Let's atleast see what she has to say. I think she deserves a chance to explain herself right? Maybe she has a genuine reason." "Yeah, a reason acceptable enough to ditch your own children and go and enjoy your life and then peeping into their life after 20 years like nothing ever happened", she muttered under her breath, obviously not meaning for me to hear. After countless ice cream treat bribes and the promise to leave as soon as she felt like, she finally agreed to come. It felt like dressing a 5 year old to go for a boring family party to get her ready. She still decided to wear her 'comfy' clothes instead of dressing up, ignoring my requests to wear something better to impress her mother. At the restaurant, Alex was still tensed. She had almost bitten her nails off. A sign of her being nervous. Maybe she won't mind another icecream treat. If that's what it takes to get her beautiful smile on her face back, then so be it. "Babe. Relax. You look like you are going to charge at the door as soon as the red flag is released." An expression of confusion crossed her flawless features. Her eyebrow suddenly cocked up in surprise. "Wait, did you just compare me to a bull, Harold Edward Styles?" "Well. It does look like you got steam coming out of ears and nose." " I am not Sylvester or Thomas the train Harry." "Well you do look like one right now." I held her hand on the table and rubbed soothing circles on the back of her hand. I knew it would calm her down. It always did. I felt her tension release slightly under my touch. What she said next was nothing I had ever expected. "What if she doesn't like me or what if I dont live up to her expectations?" "Who are you and what have you done to my Alex? My confident, sassy, sarcastic girl has a hint of doubt? No way. If there is anybody who doesn't like you they don't deserve to ummm...." I racked my brains for the best thing, obviously nothing came to me. Maybe MY Mr Wits had to come back first. "... watch Friends!" She looked at me like I had just cracked the worst joke of the century. Maybe it was. I turned my head towards the door. She walked down the stairs in a long blue gown. I stared at her, awestruck at her beauty. I felt myself pull away from Alex as I made my way towards the beauty queen standing in front of me. Her smile was dazzling. She was perfect. She was beautiful. Exceptionally beautiful. In every way. Her eyes were perfect. Her hair was flawless. Perfect for me. I had to have her. No matter what. It makes your lips so kissable And your kiss unmissable Your fingertips so touchable And your eyes irresistible. Her heavenly voice echoed in my ear, "Hello, my name is Elizabeth, I am Alex's mother. I presume that you must be Harry, her boyfriend?"
