I yelled out to the forest, searching for the boy I had lost. “Drake” I yelled over and over. No response came, only the sound of something racing through the bush towards us.
“Ember?” The thing yelled back, it was Drake. Luna and I started to race towards them, dodging trees and ducking under branches. We heard them coming closer, their footsteps crashing through the bush. I leaped over a log, Luna racing in front of me, bouncing and gliding over the log and straight into Drake’s chest. Drake let out a surprised gasp, falling backwards into a tree. Eva let out a small meow of shock before darting away from Drake, back into my arms. A dragon hung in the air near Drake’s head as he leant against the tree, his wings tucked behind his back whilst the dragons were spread wide, flapping in big sweeps to try to stay in the air.
She landed gently, perching on Drake’s shoulder, her wings pulled into her back, Luna slowly crawled out of my arms, nose held high in the air, sniffing the peculiar scent that surrounded the dragon perched on Drake’s shoulder. The dragon gently dropped to the ground beside Luna who began to move slowly around the dragon, like a tiger stalking its prey, the Dragon turning her head in circles, trying to keep Luna in her vision. Eventually Luna starts to purr, nuzzling her head against the dragon’s neck. The dragon also seemed to warm up to Luna and soon they were flying through the air, dropping and diving, enjoying each other’s company.
Drake and I stood there, just watching each other, both of us stayed still, neither moving nor speaking, simply gazing into each other’s eyes. We had only been apart for barely a day, but to me it felt like we had been separated for months. And I could see in Drake’s eyes, his yearning to hold me tight, I could see that we both felt the same way. Felt the same need to touch each other, to hold each other tight and to never let go. Something wet dripped down my cheek, sliding down my face into the hollow of my collarbone, creating a salty trail that steadily spilled out of the corners of my eyes.
Unable to stand it any longer, Drake took three quick strides towards me and pulled me into his arms. I laid my head against his bare chest, the muscles in his arms tensing around my shoulders, pulling me closer and holding him against me. I lifted my head, looking deep into his swirling black and blue eyes. He leant his head down towards me, his soft tender lips meeting with mine. The kiss was magical and sweet at first, our lips gently melding together, the moist warmth of our breath tickling the tips of our tongues as they danced together. Then slowly the kiss deepened, becoming passionate and intense, our hands exploring each other’s bodies. Eventually we parted, flying into the air, hand in hand, Talutah and Luna soaring alongside us as we made our way back to where we were separated by the wind storm. From there we met up with Ash and Carmen who congratulated us and escorted us back to the Training Arena.
