He stood there for a fraction of a second before running after her. "Look, I'm sorry for what I said, I didn't mean to-" She started walking faster. "Leave me the hell alone, Severus. He asked me, I said yes, end of story." She was nearly at the end of the corridor, approaching the portrait on the wall. "How can you and him-" "GO AWAY!" He stood, frozen to the spot. Thousands of happy memories came to his mind, all they had been through together, as she said the password and the portrait swung on its hinges to let her into the common room. Then, something hit him on the head. He stared at the thing that had brought him back to reality. A little golden ball, still feebly flapping its fragile golden wings. He turned in time to see a boy with untidy dark hair and glasses...

6. House Loyalty

He made his way down to the dungeons, and gave the password. As he walked through, the chatter stopped. Even the Carrow twins stopped swapping illegal spells and starting grinning nastily. Lucius Malfoy broke the silence.

'Really, Snape,' he drawled, smugly, 'call yourself a Slytherin.'

His two pet gorillas, both with identical gormless expressions and pudding-basin haircuts, laughed stupidly. Lucius carried on.

'I only found out today. If I'd known earlier... but never mind. Now I hope you know better.'

Severus stiffened, and Lucius leered at him, enjoying the sudden power he had over him.

'I still don't see why you bothered. I mean, a muggle, and a Gryffindor too.'

A fire began burning inside of Severus, an all-consuming rage, and he hated them, the twins, the idiots, and Lucius with his stupid long hair.

'Don't talk about her like that! She's worth a hundred of you!' he yelled, and Lucius nodded his head to the Carrows.

'It seems our little half-blood needs to be taught a lesson.' he said, checking his reflection in a long dagger from his belt.
