*knock knock knock*
Steve walked over to the door and opened it.
“Mr. Evans?” A bellhop asked Steve
“Yes that’s me.” He replied. The bellhop nodded and handed Steve two large garment bags and walked away without another word. Steve closed the door and hung up the bags in the closet as he called Beth over. She walked out of the bathroom drying her hair with a towel.
“Are those the-“
“The clothes and instructions from Fury? Yep. Let’s see who we’re playing today shall we?” Steve replied. Fury’s mission had so far been very lackluster. Steve and Beth took a private jet to Beijing and checked into a hotel under the names of Ben and Sarah Evans. Fury had told them to stay inside the hotel until further instructions were given. For ten hours the pair had watched every episode of How It’s Made on the television, ordered the most expensive room service on the menu (charged to Fury of course) and played every game of cards imaginable. Finally they were given their orders.
“Siblings Ben and Sarah Evans are on the guest list for the Save the Oceans fundraiser at the Carlton-Shang Hotel. The Evan siblings are related by marriage, Ben’s father and Sarah’s mother married 7 years ago after their significant others died of cancer (Ben) and car accident (Sarah), however both parents died 3 months ago from carbon monoxide poisoning in their home. They have travelled from Stamford Connecticut and are donating to this organization on behalf of their late parents. A car will pick you both up at 9:30pm at the doors of your hotel. Your friend will be attending the fundraiser and he has a sweet tooth for blondes. A team will retrieve you at 7:00am tomorrow.
Sarah: seduce and distract.
Ben: survey and initiate
Objective: retrieve information via USB from Le’Cheung’s main computer located at his Head Office; Le Gala Dalou.
Good luck! The sizes should be correct”
“Sizes? What is he talking about?” Beth asked after she finished reading the card Steve handed her. She watched as he finished unzipping the garment bag in his hands. A black suit was hanging on the hanger, a deep crimson dress hung behind it.
Beth stared at her reflection in the mirror and took a deep breath. She barley recognized the woman staring back at her. Golden curls framed her face and her bangs were braided to the side. Her makeup made her dark blue eyes pop and her pale pink lipstick made it look like she actually had lips. ‘Hats off to Fury’ Beth thought. He found someone who made Beth look like a blonde bombshell. Le’Cheung probably wouldn’t be able to take his eyes off her, ‘I guess that’s the point of all of this’ She thought to herself.
Beth slid the crimson dress on. The dress had a sweetheart neckline and straps that fell slightly off her shoulder. Beth turned around and looked in the mirror. Her face colored slightly; the dress hugged her hips and accentuated her ahh chest area very well. Beth tried to reach the zipper but after a few failed attempts she realized it was pointless.
“Be-ah Sarah? Almost ready to go?” Steve asked knocking on the bathroom door.
“Uhm be there in a second!” Beth called back panicking. She tried once more to zip up the dress but failed again. “Ben? Mind helping me with something?”
Steve opened the door and stared at Beth with wide eyes.
“Sorry but do you mind zipping me up?” Beth asked. After Steve nodded she turned around, fully aware and embarrassed of her exposed back. She watched in the mirror as Steve fumbled over the zipper for a few moments before zipping her dress up.
Beth turned back around quickly before things got awkward again. “Ok, so heels and them I’m all ready to go!” She followed Steve out of the bathroom and got her black high heels from the garment bag. The 4 inch stilettos made her only a few inches shorter than Steve.
“So, do I look like an aspiring playboy?” Steve asked Beth. She smiled at his reference to their pre-determined plan.
“Almost” Beth replied, “You forgot your glasses.” Steve snapped his fingers and pulled out the black rimmed glasses from his suit pocket.
“How do I look?” Beth asked
“You look beautiful” Steve replied in a sort of distracted voice, “Le’Cheung won’t be able to keep himself off you” He finished snapping to attention.
Beth grimaced, “Let’s hope it’s just his eyes, I get a little testy when they get handsy”
Steve smiled and offered Beth his arm, “Well dear sister, I believe it’s time for the ball”
Steve and Beth walked down the marble staircase and surveyed the scene before them. They had arrived at the ‘fundraiser’ which was really a cover for Le’Cheung’s contacts to meet. The ballroom was full of harmless wealthy fundraisers but Le’Chaung’s people were scattered throughout the crowd. It was obvious Fury and his agents had also infiltrated the event. Beth recognized some of his agents all socializing. One obvious indicator was that she was the sole blonde woman in the room. Every other woman around her age was brunette, red-head or raven-haired. Beth’s anxiety level dropped slightly; that was her biggest worry that Le’Cheung wouldn’t notice her.
“Ready?” Steve murmured under his breath. Beth squeezed his arm slightly in response and he nodded slightly.
The Evan siblings reached the bottom of the stairs and accepted the champagne a waiter handed them. They both pretended to take a sip while taking in the guests, memorizing their faces.
“Why don’t we stand over there and wait for the announcement?” Beth proposed in a voice that carried through the crowd.
“Nah, you stay there.” Steve replied waving her off, “There are some delectable women over there that need my number”
“But-“ Before she knew it, Steve dropped Beth’s arm and started flirting with a group of gorgeous women in a corner of the room. Beth’s shocked expression was seen by the guests nearby and they watched as she stood by herself clutching her champagne flute by a potted plant. She looked around at the crowd in obvious loneliness and abandonment. No man can ever resist a damsel in distress. Especially when her big brother isn’t there.
Within moments Beth felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to her right and made a surprised face when she saw who it was.
“I couldn’t help but notice you were looking a big lonely my dear, I am Shang Le’Cheung.” The Dubai mobster was a strong-faced man with a harsh jawline and thick eyebrows. His goatee and mustache matched the hair on his head; black with bits of grey.
“Nice to meet you Mr. Le’Cheung” Beth replied sweetly, extending her right hand to shake his, bringing her boobs closer together in the process. The mobster’s eyes quickly landed on her chest and then flicked back to her face. She flashed a smile at him and he returned it.
“You may call me Shang if it pleases you Ms.?”
“Evans, Sarah Evans. You can call me Sarah.” Beth replied.
“Ah Sarah, beautiful name. What brings you to Beijing?”
Beth giggled bashfully at his compliment, “Donating to this great cause. My mother’s last wish was to help rid the world of pollution so I came to hopefully do some good with her money.” Beth quickly explained her past. Le’Cheung drank everything in without batting an eye; her cover was intact.
“And where is your brother now?” Le’Cheung asked looking around the ballroom.
“Oh he’s over there of course,” Beth replied breezily. Steve was surrounded by a group of female agents, all tall enough to slightly cover his face. Fury picked them well. “Knowing him he won’t be back until verrry late tonight.” She added stressing the fact that she would be alone. Seduce Beth, seduce.
Le’Cheung caught on very quickly, “It seems like you’ll be in need of some company tonight?” He asked. He leaned in close and whispered in her ear, “We could go back to my mansion, it’s about thirty minutes from the edge of the city.”
Beth placed a hand on his arm, “I’d love to but that’s much too far. If my brother comes home earlier than I’m expecting, I’ll be too far away to make a good excuse” Le’Cheung’s face hardened so she continued, “But I would looove to go somewhere with you. Maybe somewhere closer?”
Le’Cheung’s eyes brightened again as he thought of a place, “Have you ever seen a building called the Le Gala Dalou?”
“This is exquisite!” Beth exclaimed as she looked over Beijing. They were in Le’Cheung’s office looking at the city from his floor or ceiling windows.
“Not as exquisite as you” He murmured kissing her shoulder softly. Chills ran down her spine but she faked a smile. She kissed his cheek softly and then sashayed away.
“I’m going to freshen up, the bathroom is hmm that way?” Beth asked clumsily. They had split a bottle of wine in the car ride there and she wanted him to think she was slightly intoxicated and unaware.
Le’Cheung nodded and said, “Don’t be long” with a stupid smile on his face. Beth winked and walked towards the bathroom making sure to swing her hips; she knew he was watching her every move. As soon as she entered the bathroom she saw a pair of black rimmed glasses on the hand dryer. Beth quickly turned around to see Captain America standing behind the door. He pressed a finger to his lips as the door shut quietly.
“His computer is in his top left drawer” Beth said in hushed tones as she gave Cap the key to the drawer that she stole from Le’Cheung earlier.
“Lure him out into the conference room and I’ll go get the information. I’ll set off the alarm when I’m clear. He’ll probably send you out to the car, go back to the hotel and wait for me” Captain American replied.
“Ok, be quick about it ok? He’s getting impatient” Beth replied before she slipped out of the bathroom. She walked back around the corner and saw that Le’Cheung had taken matters into his own hands. He was standing with his back to her, staring out the windows of the conference room. He had lit a number of candles and put them on the chairs that surrounded the table. She rolled her eyes; this guy had it down to a science.
She entered the conference room slowly, giving Captain America as much time as possible without her having to touch this disgusting mobster. Beth slid her arms around Le’Cheung from behind and kissed his ear. He turned around faster than she was expecting and grabbed her waist. He made out with her furiously as she picked her up and set her on the edge of the table. Beth shut her eyes and pretended he was someone else, anyone else. She couldn’t let on how revolted she felt by this man. Distract. Distract. Distract. These were the only words going through her head.
She became acutely aware of his hands running up the length of her leg. Starting from her ankle they slowly traveled up her calf and moving closer and closer to her thigh. ‘C’mon Cap!’ She thought frantically. His hands were now at her thigh. Beth didn’t think she could take much more of this before she snapped. All she could picture was jumping up and twisting this guy’s neck so no more women had to deal with him. Her heart rate raced as she felt the anger swelling inside her. Beth could NOT take any more of this!
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
A hideous alarm echoed throughout the building. Le’Cheung jumped away and looked around furiously.
“What is that??” Beth cried, grabbing Le’Cheung’s shirt playing up the terrified female card.
“I don’t know!” Le’Cheung replied already on his cellphone yelling in Mandarin to his security guards. He snapped his phone shut and grabbed Beth’s arm, leading her to the door. “Go downstairs to the limo, it will take you back to your hotel”
Beth started running towards the elevator as Le’Cheung’s body guards joined him. She heard them speaking quickly about an intruder. Before the doors shut she heard words that made her blood run cold.
“…cornered on the roof”
Captain America sprinted up the stairwell. He could hear the guards close on his heels. He rounded a corner and threw his shield at the gun arm of a guard who ran out of a door to his left and flung him against the doorframe. Cap jumped over the unconscious body and ran. He stopped in his tracks when he realized he was on the rooftop. Captain America heard clapping from behind him and turned around.
“Great job to you sir, good thinking on your part” Le’Cheung said dropping his arms to his sides, “Where you going to jump off the roof next?”
Captain America his mouth shut as his eyes flickered every way looking for an escape route. He failed to see any.
“I will give you one chance to surrender. I don’t know what you took but I do know I won’t be letting you out alive.” Le’Cheung continued, “So?” Captain America counted the number of guards that were filing out on the roof beside the mobster.
He smiled to himself, “Aw c’mon. You’ll have to do better than that!” He threw his shield and took out three guys at once. The rest converged on him. His shield hit the far wall and ricochet towards Captain America, taking out a few more guards on the way. In the meantime the Captain punched the guard closest to him in the face while kicking the one behind him in the stomach. He caught his shield and used it to hit a few more guards off the roof. Captain America had almost finished all the guards when an explosion hit him hard in the back, sending him to the ground. He had never felt a power like that and weakly turned around. One guard stood beside Le’Cheung holding a gun that reminded Captain America of the weapons the chitauri used in New York. He placed a hand on his back and felt a warm liquid. When he pulled his hand back it was covered in green-blue slime. It started to burn his bare skin so Captain America quickly wiped it on the concrete.
“Finish him” Le’Cheung ordered. Captain America tried to prop himself up on an elbow but the pain of the slime was pushing him down. The guard with the gun slowly walked towards him, aiming directly between his eyes. Suddenly Captain America heard a slash of steel and a yell in Mandarin from Le’Cheung. Cap looked up and saw a slender woman dressed completely in black from head to toe, complete with a black mask around her eyes. Her curly blonde hair was pulled back in a pony-tail.
Beth clutched a sharp piece of metal in one hand and challenged the guard. She had found it last minute in the alleyway beside the building and thought it might come in handy. With great effort she raised the metal and sliced the gun in the guard’s hand in half. The mechanisms in the gun exploded, blasting Beth backwards and landed on Captain America. She quickly helped him up and they jumped off the roof as Le’Cheung and his guards were distracted. They landed in a garbage bin and disappeared down the alley.
Steve Rogers gripped the sink tightly as Beth wiped his back once again. They had been at it for almost fifteen minutes now trying to get the slime off.
“One more time Cap I promise” Beth told him when she saw his white knuckles, “I’m trying to be as gentle as possible”
“It’s fine Beth, nothing you could do to make it better” Steve replied grimly. The slime had burned through his suit and was stuck on his skin. They had messaged Dr. Banner and he suggested some aloe vera and salt water.
“Alright you’re done” Beth said finally, straightening up. She winced as her back moved; some of the slime had transferred to her skin when she landed on the Captain and when the gun exploded. Steve slid his shirt over his chest and turned to help Beth. She gingerly took off her loose t-shirt but got stuck when it came to her head. Steve wordlessly helped her pull it over her head and tried to keep his blush to a minimum when he realized she was standing in front of him in nothing but a bra and shorts. Beth’s back muscles tensed when the slime clung to her skin but she kept silent throughout the process. She continued her silence for the rest of the night, changing quickly and getting into the double bed on her side and rolling over to face the wall.
“Sorry about this, I guess Fury cheaped out on the hotel room” Steve apologized, commenting on the fact that the hotel room only had one bed. Beth said nothing and Steve rolled over so their backs were facing.
A few hours later, Beth was shaken awake by a rough hand.
“Beth! Wake up! Beth!”
Beth opened her eyes wide. Her entire body was covered in a cold sweat. She bolted up out of bed and hugged her knees to her chest crying. Steve, who had been woken up by Beth’s shaking shoulders and sobs, placed a hand on her shoulder. She flinched away and cried harder.
“I-I’m sorry” She choked out.
Steve shook his head, “Don’t be. It’s ok to be scared.” Beth shook her head but kept her face covered. “No?” Steve asked, confused.
“I'm not scared of you.” Beth replied.
Steve hesitated briefly and then softly cupped Beth’s chin in his hand, turning it towards him. She opened her eyes slowly and looked up at his face, her tearstained face reflected in his eyes. He leaned his face in and she closed her eyes, feeling the pressure of his lips on hers. She sighed and melted her body against his; finally feeling safe.
