I take a sip of water as I sort out the packs. I can just see Riam's face come up in the sky and District 11's tributes. The anthem drains out and we are left in silence. We've lost one member.
"Jax?" I whisper, shaking her awake.
"Yes?" Jax asks.
"Stay here with Stark. I'm going somewhere..."
"OK," Jax shuts her eyes and within a minute or two she begins to snore softly. I grab my arrows and walk off, in the direction of the Cornucopia. I run down to where our metal plates were, when the Games started. I see blood everywhere.
I hear feet coming and to my surprise, it's Dearla. She holds a sharp knife in her hands and looks at me, threateningly. She throws it at my stomach, but to my luck, the boy from District 2 gets in the way, and the knife goes straight through his stomach. It was sharp, so he won't survive. Dearla grabs another knife and I grab an arrow and aim at her stomach.
"You were with District 11, weren't you?" I ask.
"Yes and we killed your weak ally." Dearla hisses.
"Well, I didn't come here to kill a person but since you showed up. This is for Riam," I say bitterly. I let the arrow go, without emotion and Dearla screams out Cealie, Harim and Caudral. But it's too late. The arrows already speared her insides. I look back at the boy from District 2, and he's drowned in his own blood. Two cannons fire. I can just see the top of Harim's head and I leave the arrow in Dearla's stomach and sprint back to where Stark and Jax are.
I'll stay guard tonight. I scurry up the tree and look out for a while. A small stream catches my eye, and I slide down the trunk and check it out, running my finger through what looks like crystal clean water. A burning sensation runs up my finger and I let out a yelp. I look around and see fire. Lots of it. It's going up the tree Jax and Stark are in.
"Jax! Stark!" I shout and they wake up to see the fire slithering up the tree. They jump down quickly and I grab the supplies.
"We have to go!" Stark says, alarmed. I nod and we rush away from the fire. A tree falls down and a fireball comes rushing at us. It hits Jax's leg and she screams in pain, falling to the ground. Jax gets up, weakly and Stark hoists her on his shoulders. Thank god she hardly weighs anything. We keep running until we find the beach. Jax gets off Stark's shoulders and lay on the soft, blood stained sand. We can see the burn on her leg. It burned the fabric on her trousers where the wound is.
"Are you OK?" I ask.
"Yes..." Jax smiles weakly. I wish it was day, so I could see the burn properly.
I make a fire, and do what I did in the Training Centre, making it darker so no one can see the smoke. I put the two dead birds on the fire, once I'd plucked them and they cook slowly. They finish cooking, and I blow out the fire.
I look at Stark and see he looks depressed, because of Riam's death.
"Stark? We're you and Riam related?" I ask.
"Yes. That's why we look alike, we're brother and sister," Stark says.
"Oh... I'm sorry," Jax says quietly, picking up a leg of the bird and biting into it. I pass a leg to Stark and he takes it, and I take a leg off the other. Jax told me that the birds are native from District 11. They're called groosling's. The sun begins to come up slowly, and I take a look at Jax's burnt leg. I remember some doctors using a liquid medicine to pour on it. The burn isn't that bad, but it looks very painful.
"Get some sleep Jax. I'll find something to heal your leg. Stay with here Cyanna, get some rest also. I'll be back in a bit," Stark suggests.
"OK. Take weapons with you and your pack," I reply and Stark leaves quickly. Jax rests her head on my shoulder and dozes off, finishing her sleep. I'm too alarm to sleep. What if one of us die?
I see Harim and Caudral running into the area, with spears and knifes. I grab the packs and Jax and run off, but being the stupid person I am, I trip over. I tell Jax to run and she does with the supplies. Harim and Caudral get up to me and I finally know, this is it. This is when I will die.
