"Let go of me!" I scream for what felt like the millionth time as the alpha threw me into a large spacious room that only contained a large black chair surrounded by windows on all walls. There was not a sign of wall because the window were the walls and we had to climb up several stairs to get here.
"Happily." Austen's dad pushed me against the floor as he went over to the throne-like chair. I assume this must be the throne room. Recomposing myself, I get up and turn to see the alpha relaxed in his chair watching me. "Well, why don't you take a look at the view? I'm sure your friends would love you to watch as they fall to their sorry deaths. I know Austen will."
"You monster." I spit out before obeying without realizing what I was doing. Looking out the front window opposite the throne, I notice Zack and Austen were running in the same direction several large wolves were waiting. I caught my breath as Zack gets dragged back by something I couldn't quite see.
"Off!" Someone shouted above all the growls as he ordered Austen to let go of the person who held Zack. I'm surprised they escaped because the person was transforming into a wolf at the exact same time. How can this be happening? We should have just stayed in the room and waited until we were released. At least then Zack and Austen would be safe.
"Like the view, do you?" I turned to the sound of the chuckle as the alpha stood from his chair and came closer to me. I noticed he unzipped his jeans before pulling them off. Uh oh, is he going to do what I think he's going to do?! I certainly hope he isn't. "Ready for round 2 from the papa?"
"Get away from me!" I scramble round to the entrance of the room. Unfortunately it was shut. On top of that, my fingers hadn't met the handle in time. Something snapped and I felt myself fly across to the other side of the room. Screaming in pain, I noticed something had changed. The skies went dark and the alpha was in wolf form. He's the exact same wolf as the second one who came outside the tree in the Dark Forest.
"You can't get away from me, Kaitlyn." His voice snickered as I tried to calm myself from the pain reverberating through my bones. I sit myself up to be faced with a wolf only an inch away. "Especially from me."
"Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I can't run." I push him back with full force before getting up and shooting past him to the door. "I don't know about you, but I think this alpha is about to get what he deserves."
Unlocking the door, I shoot down the stairs and find myself out of the dark building in no time. Great, now I look like a heavily pregnant teenager! The baby, or babies, decided to transform causing my stomach to double in size once again. This really wasn't helpful. Especially when I'm trying to get the heck away from this place!
"Oi!" My head snapped round to see someone growling through his teeth at me. "You shouldn't be out here! Get back inside!"
"Not on my watch!" I leap over the fallen tree before jumping straight into a non-stop run. Within a matter of moments, my legs had already decided to start aching. I can't keep this up forever. I need to find Zack and Austen so we can get the heck out of here! Oh great, my legs have already started feeling numb. Don't give up on me! Please don't give up on me yet!
Whoops, too late! Placing my hands out in front of me, I turn my body slightly to the right as I fall hard against the cold ground. Sighing in pain, I open my eyes to notice Zack in the distance. Hang on a minute, what the heck are they doing to him?! They're about to break his backbone and Austen hasn't noticed yet!
I pull myself up from the ground using the nearest tree. My feet didn't agree with me as I try to get to Zack as fast as I could. Everything turned to slow motion. No matter how much I tried to walk faster, my feet wouldn't agree. Every few steps, I had to drag myself along using the bark of the nearest tree that happened to be near me.
Tears were forming. I was getting slower. Zack was too busy concentrating on the two wolves in front of him. Austen was no where near my destination. Too many wolves were coming at once. The whistling sound had started again. There was nothing I could do but fall to my knees and call to the one I loved.
"Zack!" Tears were streaming as I covered my ears. "Behind you!"
But I was too late. Zack let out one long yelp before falling to the ground. How come I didn't see the sword before? Most of Zack's chest was cut as I could see blood pouring out in every direction. The need to vomit rose. Austen had turned his head to find out why I was screaming. My vision blurred. My world froze as I saw the one thing I hoped I would never see for a long time. Scrap what I just said. One thing I hoped I would never see ever!
Zack had been struck.
Right in the center of his heart.
