The sound of growling made me come back to consciousness. Fearing what would happen if I dared to open my eyes, I decided to continue my breathing pattern as though I was asleep. Some more thuds and cracks were heard before the voices broke through to my ears.
"What do you want with her?!" What sounded like Zack pushed something larger than him up against a wall. "She's not your chew toy that you can take whenever you want to use her against the Cerda Pack."
"Don't you think I know that?!" Austen let out a ferocious snarl, snapping his teeth into some bone as a cry of pain came from Zack's lungs. "It's not my fault alpha wants her more than me! I'm the one who should be bait, not her!"
"She has the blood of both packs in her." Zack sighed as another wash of pain flooded over him once again. "Both of you want her, but none of you realize the risk you are putting her in! She's just a teenage girl! Kate won't be able to handle the countless of battles the two of you have."
"How do you know all this?" Austen seemed to have sounded worried more than protective by now. I wonder what changed his mood so fast. "No one should have known about that except from alpha."
Something fell, making my eyes fly open. Rolling off the bed, I land back-first onto the cold, stone flooring. Sighing in pain, I try my best to pull myself up without making myself hurt anymore than I already am. After failing twice, Zack stood behind me and gently hooked his hands under my arms. Pulling me up, I trembled before stumbling straight into his arms.
"You OK?" He looked down into my hazel eyes.
"I think so." I murmur before pulling myself away and trying my best to stand up straight. I don't know what I was doing before the shack, but it definitely didn't help my body. I felt like lightning beams were shooting up and down every limb. All I wanted was for the pain to stop, but it looks like that isn't going to happen any time soon.
"We need to get out of here." Zack grabbed my wrist gently before tugging me out the doorway and down the stairs. He didn't stop rushing until we got to somewhere in the Dark Forest that I don't recall seeing before. Rubbing the bruise that had quickly produced itself on my upper arm, I listened to what Zack had to say. "You need to be more careful in future."
"Me?!" I shrieked. "Why the heck do I have to be more careful in future?! It's alright for you, being able to wander round knowing what you're doing, but not for me! I don't even know why I woke up in that werewolf place instead of at home, wherever that is! At least you know you have family, what do I have?! Just my name. Although, I don't even know if Kaitlyn Sierra is my..."
I break off as Zack's lips pressed against mine. Melting into his arms, I decide to kiss him back. As he moved his arms to around my waist, he pulled me into a hug as I stroked his soft hair between my fingers. Our passionate make-out session lasted for about a couple of minutes before we pulled apart. I felt somewhat fulfilled, yet like I needed more. I'm pretty sure I've never felt like this before.
"Wow." Was all my lips could form as I gasped for air. Looking up into his dark eyes, I try to search for some sign of why he decided to surprise me. After coming up with nothing, I decided to ask him instead. "What was that for?"
"For being amazing." He locked his fingers in mine as he intertwined them together. Stepping closer to me, he spoke in a soft whisper. "And to let you know I'm not going to leave you to battle this alone."
"Shouldn't we be getting out of here?" I try my best to stay calm as I heard some howls come from the direction we had come from.
"Yeah." Zack looked around the area before pulling on my hand once again. "Let's go before one of the alphas finds us here."
