"Kaitlyn, what the hell do you think you're doing here?!" Charlie stormed across the threshold of just a few steps through leaves and very muddy trails. "You're supposed to be in school! Not ditching it with Zack and whoever this is!"
"Charlie I..." I get cut off as the others speak over me.
"I AM NOT A WHOEVER!" My dad roared, not hesitating to use his long legs to take two quick strides to face Charlie head on. "WHO ARE YOU CALLING ME A WHOEVER?!"
"I am Kaitlyn's Uncle, if you don't mind!" Charlie seemed pretty calm compared to what he was facing at the moment. "Kaitlyn should be in school. Not with some stranger she has just met. And Zack, I thought you was better than this!"
"Sorry Sir." Zack backed away, obviously noting that this situation wasn't the time for him to be transforming and lashing out at my very own family members. Picking up my turquoise jumper, Zack grabs my good arm and pulls me in the direction of Calina High. "We best be getting back to school."
"Stay!" Both my dad AND Charlie chorused as they used their very forceful voices above one another. Charlie was the one who chose to continue. "Are you the idiot who got her up the duff?!"
"What the?!" Well that's caught my dad off guard. "Why would I make my own daughter pregnant?! That's just wrong! What sick kind of human are you?!"
"I'm the kind trying to protect my niece from danger!" Realization came across Charlie's face just as he was going to raise his voice even more. "You're the one who saved Evelyn?"
"Yeah, what does it matter to you?" My dad backed up so he was stood right in front of me. "Evelyn and Kaitlyn were the only things good that happened to me. Who are you trying to take Kaitlyn from me?"
"I'm not taking her from you." Charlie put his hands up submissively, something changed in his expression as he asked something I didn't hear nor feel in the air what could have possible made my dad nod in agreement. "Follow me, I have something to show you before the time comes."
I lean myself against the tree as I pull myself up, turning back towards Zack. His eyes seemed distant, yet not too distant for him to be clueless about our situation. I look around the forest, waiting for Charlie and my dad to get back. I hope they come back with food, cos I'm starving out here.
"Is your arm okay?" Zack asks, stepping closer to me.
"Huh?" I glance down at my swollen arm to realize that it was hurting. Not only was it hurting, but I could see where my lower bone has snapped from where they were supposed to be connected. Zack grabs my arm, catching me off guard. Yelling at the top of my lungs. "OWE! What the heck was that for?!" Charming, he doesn't reply to me, yet he gets mad when I don't answer him. Wait a minute, "How did you know?!"
I'm pretty sure no one was noticing the fact I was suffering with the running pain inside of my arm. I am also pretty sure Zack doesn't remember anything from the time he was wolfed out. He didn't even know he was a werewolf when I questioned him after Austen's fight. Surely he can't go from forgetting everything that happens in wolf form to suddenly remembering this quick, can he?
"I could sense your energy." To be honest, I was pretty surprised I could hear him say this as he was practically saying it under his breathe. Looking up to stare into his eyes, I notice they change to a golden caramel blue before quickly switching back to his curious brown ones. Falling backwards at the shock, Zack's arm reaches out and catches me from underneath. "You alright, Sierra?"
"Mhmm." I nod slowly, conversing my eyes from his never-ending brown eyes full of stories I will never know to his soft lips. I recall the small moment we had and wonder if Zack would ever let us have an intimate moment like that again. Knowing my luck, he probably doesn't want to see me again.
"Kaitlyn." Moving my studious eyes back up to his, he continued. "You're the only one who has been there for me."
"Is that supposed to be a thank you?" I let out a slight giggle as he pulls me up to my feet. "I mean, I don't even remember much about myself, let alone you so I don't know why you're thanking me. Not only have I become pregnant by not knowing how, I've probably lost the trust of everyone in school, including the..."
My eyes widen with both surprise and want as hot lips were upon mine once again. Falling into his arms, I let him push me up against the tree. Neither of us giving any signs of letting go of one another. I run my hands through his thick hair as he embraces me in his huge arms. As much as my arm ached with pain, this was better. Way better.
