"Ahem." I don't know how long me and Zack stayed like that, but it was certainly for most of the time my dad and Charlie were gone. Pulling apart, Zack and I kept our position and only turned our heads in the direction of the voice. Huh, who the heck is that? "Well, well, well, seems like Kaitlyn has a little friend now."
"Who are you?" Zack growled, stepping away from me and clenching his fists as tight as they would let him. The man just chuckled as though he was a very close friend of mine or Zack. "Answer me, who the heck are you?!"
"Why don't you ask Kaitlyn?" My eyes widened as Zack turned towards me. Something wasn't right and I couldn't tell what it was. There was a flicker in the stranger's eyes as I scanned all my thoughts and memories for where I recognized this being from. Nothing showed itself. "Kaitlyn, why don't you tell your friend here exactly who I am?"
Wait a minute, I do know him! He's the one who kidnapped me after making my car break down! The one who beat me down until I couldn't move a single inch! He's the one who made me fall to my near-death inside the lodge outside of town! He especially made me forget everything about who I was and who I was supposed to be! This man is the Cerda Pack alpha!
"Kaitlyn no!" Zack made a grab for my wrist as I lunged myself at the laughing male. Feeling myself heat up from the inside out, I try to claw his face but he caught my wrists. Cursing with language I didn't even know I was capable of saying, I tried to pull myself out of the grasp as I felt my hands go numb. Why can't he just let me go?! Raising my feet to kick the creepy man in the stomach, I felt something move behind me.
"Let me go!" I screech, kicking my legs and trying to pull the arms that were wrapped around my waist apart. Something snapped and I could tell it wasn't any sticks on the floor, it was Zack. And he was transforming. I've not long eaten dinner with my dad, and this happens?! I'm sure I'm going to puke any minute now.
I heard some growls as Zack attacked the man who was in mid-transformation. My eyes widened as Zack flew back against the tree before falling down with a yelp so loud, I tried my best to let my ears recover. Well, that failed. My screaming obviously caught the person who clung onto me off guard because I managed to fall forwards before the Cerda Pack alpha placed his foot on my back. Great, now I can't go anywhere!
"STOP THAT!" Zack cried in pain as the sound of whistling filled the air. Why won't it stop?! Make it stop, make it stop, make it stop! Yet another thing cracked as I felt my ribs split with the force of the alphas foot pushing me into the dirt below. The whistling sound never failed as it reached to a volume so loud, I'm sure no one would be able to hear anything afterwards.
My vision faded as all I could hear were orders barking every direction. I wish I could help Zack. I know for a fact he wishes he could help me too because I could hear his voice shouting above all the commotion just to try and see if I was OK. Tears formed as something rattled in the background. Turning my head, the last thing my eyes would reach was the sorry eyes Zack sent to me as he was being lighted on fire while he laid against the base of the tree. This moment will be the one I will always remember because it's the moment I realized something. I love Zack.
