Everyone was finishing their food and Draco did not even start to eat his. He just stared at his food, sometimes he would just move it around to make it look like he was eating. He didn't eat because he thought he did not deserve it. This has become a daily routine and he wouldn't eat unless his mother was forcing him.
"we are pleased to welcome a new member of staff this year Professor Slughorn who is a former colleague of mine and has agreed to resume his old post of potions master"
Draco stared at the floor. why couldn't he just point his wand at Dumbledore and just say the words. He knew why he couldn't. A random thought ran across his mind. Why was Granger acting so brave all of the sudden? He snapped out of his thoughts And glanced at Granger, realizing that she was looking at him too. Her eyebrows were furrowed in worry. She turned away when she realized draco looking at her with a bit of redness in her cheeks. Draco began to question even more. The slytherin table then erupted with claps and cheers. How can they be happy like this?
"Now as you know, each and every one of you was searched upon your arrival here tonight and you have the right to know why. Once there was a young man, who like you, sat in this very hall, walked this castle's corridors, slept under its roofs. He seemed to all the world a student like any other. His name: Tom Riddle."
He felt a shiver travel up his spine. Everything suddenly felt cold. There was no use trying to act like he was not here. He was everywhere.
"Today, of course, he's known all over the world by another name, which is why, as I stand looking out upon you all tonight, I'm reminded of a sobering fact: Every day, every hour, this very minute, perhaps, dark forces attempt to penetrate this castle's walls. But in the end, their greatest weapon... is you..."
Draco then began to think hard
'is he talking to me? does he know about my mission?'
His thoughts were inturrupted by the people around him leaving. He left to exit the hall.
"why was granger looking at me?" he said enough for only him to hear.
