Kari should have been pissed. She should have stormed out and never looked back.
That's not what happened. As soon as he said the words, kari threw her arms around him and kissed him.
She kissed him with everything she had. The kiss soon became long and passionate.
Kari tangled her hands in his hair bringing him closer. He shoved his tongue in, taking full dominance of her.
A loud ripping sound was heard.
Kari looked down. Her mouth gaped. "Uh look you j-just ripped my only-"
Another kiss shut her up. Kari moaned loving the feeling of him.
She had missed it. Her body tingled.
How had she ever gone without him?
The next day kari woke with a huge grin on her face. Luke had dropped her off last night at home.
Her parents as usual didn't care where kari was. Her father watched Luke's car. "I just don't trust him, okay?" Her dad told her.
Kari quickly got dressed. A cute outfit would do.
She hopped off to school, giggling like the schoolgirl she was.
Kari drove to school singing to a song. She pulled in her spot. Then grabbed her bags from the front.
Kari walked to the hallway.
Amber was there, smirking. It was a mean one. Not a nice, easy going one.
Then there was Luke. Her Luke. Holding ambers hand.
Smiling a vicious smile. Eyes emotionless like a bottomless pit.
Amber spoke. "Listen up losers. This is my man now. We declared it last night. He loves me. As I love him."
Then she began to kiss him. He responded.
They were soon making out. Just as they had done last night.
Kari touched her lips just as Luke looked up. Tears threatened to spill.
Thunder rumbled outside. It was suddenly raining, hailing even.
Kari ran outside, away from the hallway. Away from Luke and his sorry ass.
"Kari wait." He grabbed Kari's wrist. "Let me explain."
"No. You know what? Get your ass inside and have Amber suck your man whoring parts."
She ripped her wrist from his, got in her car, and sped off.
Tears fell from her eyes. Kari parked at a Kmart parking lot.
A knock on the window started kari awake. It was dark outside. Kari quickly checked herself in the mirror.
Her eyes were bloodshot. Nose runny. Kari groaned.
She looked awful. Kari looked and saw a man.
He was cute. Blonde hair neatly tucked to the side. His blue eyes soft.
Kari rolled down her window. "Hi mister." Her throat sounded scratchy. It was a little sore too.
"Hi miss, my names jack. I thought you could use a little company."
Kari invited him in the car. He asked if she was okay as soon as he slid in.
"Yeah just a breakup." Kari told him. Jacks eyes glossed over as if remembering something.
"Yeah I've been through those."
Now it was Kari's turn to ask.
Surprising her he held her shoulders. "No. I'm not okay. Do you love this person?"
Kari didn't hesitate. "Yes."
"Then get them back."
He interrupted her. "I once loved a girl." His eyes shone with unshed tears. "Her name was jenny. She was so beautiful and sweet. But I left her for a girl. A girl who broke up with me." A tear slid down his cheek.
But jack didn't wipe it away. "I had planned to marry her. We talked about children. Our future was mapped out. I think that was the problem. We were always planning ahead."
He paused for breath but continued. "I won't forget her. The smiles, the kisses, and cuddling as if we never would leave. I regret leaving her."
"Did her you ever see her again?" Kari asked. Her voice was barley a whisper.
"Yes I did. Just recently actually. She was different. Not my jenny. And she loved someone else. So I left. But that's why I want you to get him back."
"I'll try. I promise." She told him.
"So what do you do now?"
Well I'm a teacher. A new one actually."
Kari was about to ask him where, but jack was gone.
So she left. Driving with a determination. A destination. She pulled in. Walked up to the door and pounded.
She pounded until someone opened the door.
Luke. He looked shocked to see her there.
"Explain. Now or were done."
"That's it? You were with her so she didn't make my year horrible." She smiled at him. "Oh honey, the years almost over. Then I'll be going to college."
Luke frowned. "Where are you going?"
Kari blinked in confusion. "Oh college. Alaska university."
"Oh." His shoulders sagged.
She walked behind him. "I'm sorry. But we can still chat. Talk on the phone. I love you."
Luke turned. "I love you."
Kari smiled and rested her head against his chest. "Say that again."
"I love you. So damn much." He lifted her chin up to meet his eyes. "If you asked me to move the moon I'd do it without hesitation."
"Me too." Kari sighed resting her head on his chest. She meant her words.
If you read my other book Ends and beginnings, you know jack. I just wanted you guys to see him again.
There was a little sneak peak of jacks life.
