5. Categories: Fiction

Before we move on, let’s know CATEGORIES! :D

The Fiction:

Adventure: It basically deals in travelling to places and having new experiences :D
Example: The Secret Seven, The Jungle Books

Diary: It is the type of story written in a diary format.
Example: Diary of Anne Frank (You live under a rock, huh?)

Fantasy: A category which can never be non-fiction. Anyway, it is a story involving magic or other supernatural phenomenon without being too horrific
Example: Lord of The Rings, The Game of Thrones (yes, that is a book)

Historical Fiction: Stories that take place in consistency with real historical events (which actually occurred)
Example: The Book Theif, Gone With The Wind (Yes, this is a book too)

Humour: The funny books with jokes, anecdotes and limericks :D
Example: Three Men In A Boat, Diary of A Wimpy Kid

Journalism: Those books or magazines which are not stories! They can be fictional (See: The Daily Prophet by River_Summers) or can be of interviews :D
Example: Honestly? No way!

Romance: Those books with ‘love’ as their central theme.
Example: The Last Song, The Notebook, Every other book published by Nicholas Sparks

Lyrics: These can be your own lyrics or lyrics of other songs you have copy-pasted :D
Example: You have to be kidding me!

Mystery & Suspense: Those stories, which make your heartbeat faster and sweat, form on your forehead. They are spine-tingling. I wonder where I heard that word…
Example: Agatha Christie Series, Sherlock Holmes, Currently- J. K. Rowling too :D

Non-Fiction: Stories which are true. No, stories where you saw fairies or met Harry Potter or got adopted by One Direction isn’t Non-Fiction. Please.
Example: Soul Surfer, Hachiko: The True Story of a Loyal Dog *sniff*

Other: Stories that don’t fall any of the above or below categories. They are the depressed class of outsiders that don’t belong anywhere! *sob, gives a hug* (I’m here for you, Other, I’m here for you)

Paranormal & Supernatural: Those stories that were originally to scare you but now people delight in them. (Dracula to Twilight)
Example: Twilight, Dracula

Pets & Animals: Those stories that have furry friends in them :D
Example: The Believer, Hachiko: The True Story of a Loyal Dog *sniff* (again)

Plays & Screenplays: C’mon, I’m sure everyone knows this. Screenplays are for the television or video games, while plays are for the theatre :D
Example: Shakespeare, hello?

Poetry: This category is for poems to wake the William Blake in you :D
Example: Solitary Reaper, A Dream Within A Dream

Realism: Stories that appear real, but aren’t so. They don’t have flying wizards or hot archers with sparkling silver hair and heart-melting blue eyes *sigh*
Example: To Kill A Mocking Bird, One Hundred Years of Solitude

Science Fiction: Stories with advanced weapon and technology. Though initially, science fiction did not include apocalyptic stories, it does now. Dystopia and Apocalyptic stories are a part of Science Fiction.
Example: Divergent, Red Rising

Thriller & Horror: Those stories that keep you on edge all the time or scares the poop out of you! They are usually fast-paced or scary
Example: Spilt Second, Inferno
