I continued working for Disney, I thought there would be press looking for the mysterious Jonas’ girl but anything happened. I guessed it was because there was no more Jonas at Orlando.
I began to love and appreciate my life even more than before; I liked my job, I liked to hang out with my girls and most of all I loved being someone in Nick’s life.
For some reason I got too attached to Nick, even when I thought I’d never get too attached to anyone again because attachments lead to expectations and expectations lead to disappointments. I never thought I could get real friends either but Nathalie and Brenda proved me wrong.
Thanks to technology I met Bren’s folks, Nathalie’s parents and Nick’s family. Webcam was such an amazing thing. And there were times when Joe, my girl friends, Nick and I spend hours playing ’20 questions’.
“Okay, now is my turn.” Nathalie began to speak. “Joe… What’s your favorite city?”
“Wyckoff, New Jersey! Of course!”
“Come on, Nathalie! You need to be a little more imprudent!”
“I’m sorry, Brenda but I’m still a lady!”
“Okay… Girls!” Joe got our attention before they would start fighting. “It’s your turn, Bren.”
“Fine.” She got an evil look… I didn’t like it. “My question number 18 is for Nicholas.”
“Yep.” He said confidently.
“Do you like my friend?” She asked putting her arm around my shoulders. I could feel the blush on my cheeks as soon as she finished her question.
Nick didn’t answer. He stood there staring at me with an expression I couldn’t interpret.
“The real question must be…” Joe interrupted his brother when he realized he wouldn’t talk. ”Does she like him?”
Suddenly someone knocked on our door. I stood up as quickly as I could and opened it. It was Adam.
“Bren, I think this is for you.” I said loud enough for her to hear me.
“Holy sh*t!” She said. “You’re not safe yet, Nick!”
“Actually, I need to talk to the three of you.” Adam told me. I let Adam in and I got to the computer once again.
“Sorry, guys. We have to go.” I said to the screen trying to hide my rush. “Love you.”
I closed my laptop and sat in the table with my friends and our counselor. My heart was still beating so fast, Bren’s question made me kind of sick.
“What’s up?” I asked.
“The thing is… There’ll be trip to Tampa for some of you.” He began to say with his hand over Brenda’s. They were meant for each other, definitely. But seeing them being so close in so little time made me think about what Nick would answer.
“’Some of you’ means: Not the three of you are going, right?” Nathalie asked.
“Exactly. Every counselor is choosing just one person even when we have at least five groups of three people.”
“So… who have you chosen?”
“I haven’t, yet. That’s why I’m here. Who would like to go? It’s just for a week and it’s only for you to do some shopping and that stuff.”
“I think the three of us want to go.” Nathalie said with some concern on her voice.
“I don’t want to.” Brenda began to speak. “I’ve been there and there’s not so much to see plus I rather spend some time right here with you.”
She looked at him and just began the kissing thing.
“Guys?” Nathalie got their attention back.
“Sorry” He said. “So, it’s between the two of you.”
“When’s the trip?” I wondered. I was sure Tampa was on the Jonas Brothers’ tour list.
“It’ll take place exactly two months from now.”
“Almost before leaving our program.” Nathalie pointed looking at me; she rolled her eyes after seeing my expression. “He’s going to be there, isn’t he?”
“Yes, I think so.” I said biting my lip. I really wanted to go! I really wanted to see them perform! I wanted to be a fan girl again! I wanted to see Nick again!
“Fine.” She told me. “I’m staying, but this must be worth it! You can’t come back without knowing what his feelings are, you’ve been friends for so long and there’s nothing more obvious than your mutual love!”
“Thank you. I-I’ll let you know whe-en I come back.” I promised with some stuttering.
