I got to the main table to hug Nathalie and Darren’s goodbye. Everything was over and I wouldn’t be able to see them again, at least in few weeks if luck was on my side.
“Congratulations, everything was amazing.” I told Nathalie’s husband while I was hugging him.
“Thank you. I hope you get that job.”
“I hope the same thing.” I smiled, I was sure Nathalie told him about it.
I broke the hug and got to my best friend…
“I’m going to miss you so much, girl.”
“I’ll miss you too.” I wrapped her in my arms with all the love I could recollect in that moment. “Have fun, okay?”
“I will.” She broke the hug and took my hand with a worried look. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah… Why?” I wondered half smiling.
“Bren told me about that thing… On Nick’s apartment.”
I turned my head to look at my boyfriend, he was hugging Darren goodbye too.
“I’m good. I think he understands.”
“Well… Call me if you need anything okay?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be fine.” I smiled and hugged her once again.
Nick congratulated Nathalie as well and we headed to Brenda and Adam.
“I think I’ll see you tomorrow.” I told her.
“Yes, we need to talk a little more before you leave NY.”
“Are guys going back to Orlando soon?” Nick asked.
“Yeah, we’re leaving in a few days too.” Adam answered this time.
“Nick, are you going to get my friend to the airport on Monday?”
“Absolutely, but you can come with us if you want to.”
“When’s you flight?”
“Passing midnight.” I said with an innocent giggle.
“Oh god. I love you girl, but I need to sleep too.” Brenda said.
“It’s okay, I guess you’ll go to Mexico to visit me soon, anyway.” I joked.
“We’ll see.” Adam answered with a smile.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, then.” I told them.
I waved from the doorstep and we left.
We got to my boyfriend’s apartment pretty quickly and both of us were really tired. I got in the bathroom and changed my beautiful dress for a shirt and shorts.
When I got out, Nick had already changed his clothes too. It killed me to see him on that white V-neck I loved; once he even gave me one just because I told him so.
“You know that I love you, right?” I whispered looking at my feet. “I-I… I just wanted to clear that up.”
“I love you too…” He said with a confusion look. “Is everything okay?”
“Yes, well… It’s just that” I sighed… I could feel my breath rushing. “I really love you, you know. And I hate being afraid of you finding someone prettier, smarter, cooler, taller, skinnier, nicer, calmer, clearer, stronger, better than me…”
I tried to catch my breath again but he kissed me. It was a sweet tender kiss but it felt weird.
“No one’s better for me than you.” He said making my heart jump out of my chest. “Now, you have to get in bed. Tomorrow you’ll have an extremely tiring day.”
“New York gets lonely by bedtime. I’d love you to sleep by my side, tonight.” I took a deep breath hoping he would understand my terms for ‘sleeping’.
We got into the bed right next to each other; he put his arm around me and kissed the top of my head.
I intertwined our hands, sank my face into his chest and waited for the dreaming to get into my mind.
