People Change and Promises...

It is incredible the way I feel right now. Some people say that good things take time, but really great things happen in the blink of an eye. I can’t believe that this is my life now… You wanna know what I’m talking about? Well… Almost 6 years ago I was in Houston with my family celebrating my birthday, now I’m in L.A. with my favorite musician as a husband thinking about what would be the perfect name for our upcoming baby. How did it happen? Let’s see…

11. “Don’t wanna break your heart. Maybe I can ease the ache, so let me give your heart a break.” Give your heart a break –Demi Lovato

I didn’t know what to say and it seemed like Nick didn’t want me to say anything; sometimes we just need someone to be there for us, but I hate the moment when someone you like needs you as a Dr. Love… I didn’tknow how much more I could take. I felt my heart breaking more and more each day.

“What’s your name?” He asked me breaking the long silence.

“Nice to meet you.” He half smiled handing me his hand. I took it with a little awkward shaking.

“Nice to meet you too.”

“You didn’t tell me my shoes weren’t the same color this morning.”

“I’m sorry, I thought you’d think I check you upside down every time I see you.” I said biting the tip of my tongue, I mean who wouldn’t check him? He’s like a gift from the gods!

He laughed silently.

I could feel the rush in my heart, the blush in my cheeks and mostly the stuttering in my voice but somehow we continued talking about anything and everything; we spent the whole afternoon in that small hall sitting on the floor next to each other.

“Oh my god! He didn’t!” I said with my eyes wide open. He laughed once again; his laugh’s the best sound I’ve ever heard.

“Yes! I think it was at Dallas… Jack and I just looked back at him. We couldn’t stop laughing. It was like ‘Joe, you didn’t have to clear that up!’”

In that beautiful moment my cell phone began to ring, I looked at the screen and it was Brenda. Damn! I forgot about the GNO I promised we would have that night after work.

“I must go.” I told him with the ache right in the middle of my chest.

“Do you want me to walk you home?” He offered.

“No, it’s just I’m not going home, thanks.” I said. “Frankie must be starving though.”

“He’ll be fine.”

“Thank you. I’ll see around.” I don’t know how but I got braver at that second and just kissed his cheek and ran to the apartment. How did it happen? I don’t know but somehow by that time I was already friends with Nicholas.

I took a deep breath and called my friends back.

“I’m so sorry girls, it’s just th-“

“Where the hell have you been?” Bren shouted on the phone interrupting me. “We’ve been waiting for you for hours! It’s almost midnight!” MIDNIGHT?!

“I-I’m sorry” I apologized.

“Everything must be close by now, you should come home.” I heard Nathalie said on the other side.

“I’m on my way… If you want we can go tomorrow to Downtown Disney and I’ll pay the dinner.” I said before hanging up.

The truth was I regret nothing.

I got home as soon as I could and there were my friends, waiting for me just to keep the scolding.

“Do I need to say I’m sorry once again?” I told them.

“I don’t know” Bren began to talk “You must have a good excuse.”

“Oh geez. Now you sound like my mother…” I rolled my eyes and sat beside her.

“Go ahead.” Nathalie said.

“Okay… Believe it or not I got home late because I was with Nick.”

“No freaking way!” Both of them said at unison.

“Heck! Yes!! I was with him. Nothing happened, we just talked” I began to tell them everything, even the part of Nelta breaking up.

“You really need to see him again!”

“There’s nothing I wish more, Nathalie. But he’s leaving in a few days.” I told her with my stomach in a swirl.

“I’m sure he’ll go after you before leaving.” Bren said.

“You think?”

“Yes. Don’t worry! Now go to bed, we have to go shopping tomorrow!”

“Yes, momma!” I said laughing.

The next morning was good, I had to work but I got the chance to see Nick and...

“Hi, there!” He greeted me behind the counter.

“Hey.” I smiled trying to ignore the shivering down my knees.

“I was wondering, would you like to go get some dinner tonight?”

There's no next time. It's now or never. I said to myself.

“Hm… Yeah, it-it’d be cool.” I stuttered without thinking.

“Cool. We’ll see you here at 7, okay?”

“Okay.” I said breathless and he left the lobby.

I was sure Brenda and Nathalie would kill me but I couldn’t say no!

When I was off of work, I just texted the girls saying I was sorry; I got to the apartment to change my clothes, I didn’t know what to wear because I didn’t want to look like I was trying too hard but I didn’t want to look messy either, so I just put on my gray jeans with a cute long sleeve t-shirt and make my hair up on a ponytail.
