Next morning I woke up to the sound of my alarm got a shower and got ready for work. It took me around 10 minutes to think what to do with Nick’s jacket. It’d be weird for me to wear it and it’d be even weirder if Nick saw me wearing it, somehow I knew he was going to pass through the lobby at some point, so I decided to leave it at the apartment.
It was 7 in the morning when I finally got into the resort and I knew I had to wait. Hours got infinite, every single minute seemed a year and I checked the clock almost every second waiting for that beautiful boy with the big brown eyes.
After a few, I finally was able to hear his voice…
“It’d be cool, thanks.” He said over his phone walking right up to the only person over the counter. “I’m okay, I promise.”
He seemed better than the night before, he was talking again, but I was sure he wasn’t okay at all, his shoes didn’t even matched!
“I will. Bye, Dem.” He said before hanging up.
“Good morning, can I help you?” I said with a smile trying to cheer him up, but failed.
“Morning… I-I’m here because I wanted to let you know that the single room that I reserved it’s now available for any other visitant.”
She’s gone! FINALLY!! I shouted in my mind.
“Okay. Can I have the room number, please?” I tried to act naturally even when my own excitement made me remember their rooms’ numbers.
“170” He told me.
I updated the room status in the computer.
“Done. Thank you. Anything else, sir?”
“Yes.” He finally smiled. “Call me Nick.”
I blushed. Holy s***! That smile was killing me and it was one of those awkward moments when someone really hot talks to you and you suddenly forget what language you speak.
Damn! Damn! Damn! Come on! Say something! I scolded myself.
“I-I’m sorry, bu-“
“I know” He interrupted my spitted words. “It’s just that I think you’ve seen so much about my personal life on these days, plus you’re still a fan of mine, aren’t you?”
“Yes, I am… I’ll try, then.” That’s all I could say.
We both smile and stare into each other eyes until Nick’s phone began to ring again.
“Hm… I’m sure there will be press around here in a couple of hours; please do not give them any information. If anything happens I’ll be in my room.”
“Don’t worry.” I whispered to myself while he ran out of the lobby.
Yep, he was right. Paparazzi guys and the entire E! News press was on the lobby when I finished my work schedule. I ran to my place, changed my clothes for something a little bit more comfortable than my uniform and got back to the resort to give Nick’s jacket to its owner… It was the perfect opportunity, he was all alone in his room! I mean, there was NO Delta.
I walked to the door and hold his jacket a little tighter; I bit my lip and knocked the door.
“Who’s there?” His childish voice asked.
“I-I’m from the reception back down the lobby. I have… I have something for you.” I said choking me on my own words.
Nick opened and got out the room staring at me with confusion.
“You forgot this last night at the restaurant.” I said handing him his jacket.
“Oh. Thank yo-“
“Is there your mummy girlfriend again?” I heard Frankie’s voice coming from the inside. Nick rolled his eyes, closed the door right behind him and stared at the ground trying to fight the tears.
“I think she wasn’t so good with kids.” I murmured to myself, but loud enough for Nick to hear it. I regret it at the moment I said it, so I looked at the ground as he did… He changed his shoes, now both were the same color.
“I wish she was.” Nick told me with a sigh. “At least, I wish she was good with my little brother.”
