Teen Writers' Magazine

I can't thank movellas enough for the opportunities and inspiration I've had since joining the site! In 2014 I managed to win a place in an amazing writing Masterclass (and private interview) with the bestselling author of the 'Uglies' series- Scott Westerfeld- when he came to London on a 2-day tour... a massive, massive thank you to movellas for that truly inspirational experience <3 We asked him as many of your questions as we could, so now I'm excited to reveal all the advice we managed to squeeze from what was genuinely one of the most exciting days of my life. This magazine also contains a bunch of other things to do with writing, reading and movellas. Ever wanted access to all of Movellas an secrets, top tips and guidance in one place? I hope this helps :D *I'd also like to give a big thanks to my wonderfully supportive and friendly movellians that have helped with this: HeartTaunter, Raven711, Writer_Girl, Jade.P and so many more! :)

Hi! I just came to write a quick warning, because I feel it's important that everyone is aware of a scam that's on the internet. The website is called YoungWriters' ( https://www.youngwriters.co.uk/) and it hosts 'competitions' but everyone wins. Not only this, but the prize is to be published in a 'Young Writer's Anthology', yet you have pay £18.99 to get a copy of the anthology. This is bad enough, but the company went bankrupt a few years ago and didn't give out ANY of the thousands of anthologies it owed to people. Yet now it's up and running again- without paying any of its debt- and many people are unaware of it's horrible history. The scary thing is how legitimate the website looks, with a padlock in the URL bar and everything.

I nearly fell into the trap of this scam, but luckily I researched it before hand, and wasn't ripped off. I would hate if it happened to any of you, it's a really heartless crime and it's disgusting that the website is still getting away with it.

For more information, you can visit these websites:

I urge you not to be put off if this has happened to you, it's just about finding legitimate competitions. I live in Britain, and well-known companies like the BBC do competitions you can trust. But for competitions with amazing prizes, a buzz of like-minded individuals and kind peers to give you feedback, you know the best place? Right here at Movellas! :D
