Simon Cowell? chapter 5
“Wait, wait. You are the Simon Cowell from American Idol?” I glared him, gasping by having his presence right in front me, my eyes were already popping out from their sockets.
“Yes, I am the Simon Cowell,” he said while giving an emphasis on the.
“Oh gosh! You don't know how much I love Kelly Clarkson, But since you been gone, I can breathe for the first time, I'm so moving on, Yeah, yeah, Thanks to you, Now I get, What I want, Since you been gone,” I mouthed Kelly's song ‘Since You Been Gone’ while having my eyes CLOSE and pretending that I was a rock star.
Hearing somebody clearing their throat in the background. I opened one of my eyes to see who it was, Simon was standing right there while smiling down on to me.
“Sorry,” I said while feeling embarrassed doing it front of this intellectual man .Moving it along as if people have done crazier acts than mine, I simply smiled to him, I hope he doesn’t think I am crazy.
“I am also from X Factor,” he said with a proudness towards this thing.
X Factor? I think I heard if before, flashing my mind of where I could’ve heard it from, of course Ellie mentioned it, either way I forgot why she told me for. “Eh? I have heard it before, yet not so familiarized with what that is. Is it about how many worms you can eat, like the extreme show?”
Giving a deep laugh, “No, it's a where people who has a talent for singing can compete and at the end, the audience votes for their favorite. And, whoever gets the most ballots, wins,” he explained me about his show.
Listening to the description, I nodded at the end. “But, why are you here and why at Oxnard?”
Not being able to see why he is at a ballet studio, and Oxnard was an hour away from Los Angeles, but why the way over here?
“I am here to pick up my little niece from her ballet practice, Scarlett,” he mention. “However, that isn't the reason why I stopped and stared at you.” he said with seriousness in his voice.
I nodded my head for him to go on with his point.
“Sorry for eavesdropping on your call, but I heard something that caught my attention. You said your family don't have the financial that you need for you higher education and for you to go on. Yet, I think I could help you reaching your goals by paying all of it off, no matter what the cost is,” he stated. “I have a job position that has been open for a while and I think you will be a good candidate.”
Looking at him seriously and taking all the information all in. If I could, I would’ve jumped up and down to hear talking about him helping me achieve my long-term goal. But, I don’t know if this is a good way to get my MONEY, and I didn’t want to use a rich guy.
“Dar! You should have been there when I had to dance by myself!” Ally said as she was the first one coming out of the dancing studio with Scarlett while the others were still inside the studio.
Squalling down to Ally's level, I pressed my lips on her ear, “Ally, may you give me second, Scarlett's uncle is telling me something really important.”
“So, what do you think?” Simon jumping right in as Scarlett stood next to her uncle, patiently.
Giving him all my attention, I looked at him seriously as I thought. This opportunity can change my whole life to become what I been wanting to be, an Olympic tracker or an USC graduate, or both. Yet, I can't let him pay my fees, I will feel crummy if I say yes to him and what would my mom say?
“Let me think about it, is that fine?” I said, wanting to choose the right path with an amount of time.
“Of course, hmm?” he said while his right hand making a slight wave as if he was asking my name.
“Darlene, Darlene Parker,” I told him with a big smile.
“Darlene,” he said while showing his smile and taking his wallet out from his back pocket, “May I gave you my number?” pulling out a white BUSINESS CARD with his name on it with big letters and underneath it had his contact info.
Taking the card from his hand and putting in my pocket carefully because this could change my whole life. “Thank you, I would definitely call you right away when I make up my mind,” I told him with a warm smile that I could master.
Nodding his head, “Call me later when you make one,” he said while taking Scarlett's hand and headed over the door. Before he hit the door, he stopped and opened his mouth, “I know you are going to pick the right decision, I just know,” he nodded his head, with that Scarlett and him left the building.
But, which one is THE RIGHT ONE for me? I want to be a big star one day, but I don’t want someone else to help me through. Feeling a little shaky, what happens if I don't pick the right one?
“Dar, Dar, may we leave now, it's getting little chilly,” Ally spoke while shoving her arms inside the extra space of her jacket sleeves.
Nodding my head at her wish, getting a hold of her hand and walking out of the place. “How about we make some hot gingerbread cocoa?” I asked, trying to make her feel warm by mentioning the drink.
“Yeeeee!” she yelled with joy while jumping while walking up to Sally.
Once inside my Jeep, “Now remembering, how was your performance doing it alone in the class?” I asked while that thought was coming into my mind when she was trying to get my attention earlier.
“You should’ve seen it,” her blue eyes getting big when she was explaining her experience.
After making some hot cocoa for me and Ally, she told me about how Mrs. Dahl was well impressed by Ally's confidence when she was doing her routine alone. Right now, her instructor is going to place her in the front row during their performances by how amazing she is. She might also let Ally do her own solo for their big Winter Ballet Recital during the winter break.
I feel so proud of my little sister; yet, I told her not to get a bighead because it would create her to feel superior to her other ballet mates. Otherwise, I am glad that she is reaching her dreams at such a young age and I know she is going to go far.
That brought me back to my problem, after the hot drink hour, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by the offer Simon Cowell was proposing me. The only way I could release all the worries and think thoroughly is by taking a run at the beach.
The main reason why I had loved running because it has helped me think of what I should do in my life. Each hurdles in my life has been problems, but it is up to me to overcome them all.
Hitting the sand by running over it was creating some tension in the muscles of my legs and my heart was pounding to set it free. I always liked this feeling since it feels like I am getting stronger and relaxed by each step I take. I run all the way from the harbor to the pier while the wind was blowing against my head, making my hair not to bother me while I was running.
What should I do Dar? I can't give in by taking Simon Cowell's MONEY, I won't be able to sleep at night by thinking that I couldn't succeed without a hand by a successful mogul. I would like to reach my dreams without anybody's help other than the government's help. Wait, that is basically the same thing; yet, Simon is the one paying all it off. But, come on Dar, you need the money, he said it all by himself that he would pay all of it off, even if I wanted to do both dreams. You can't do this all alone, in life, you need other people's help to be able to succeed in life.
Looking ahead at me, I reached my destination. The distance was roughly 5 miles; when I reached the pier area, I walked by it to get closer to the ocean. Rolling my heels and kicking the sand at few times, I found a spot where I could sit on the tan color sand. Looking over the horizon, the sun was already setting for the night showing its pretty colors like red, orange, pink, purple, and orange. You could see some fishing men going over to the mini islands to sell, picking up men, or bring more fish back to the inland.
This scene deserves to take a photo, pulling out my phone and hearing the shutter sound meaning it was taking the picture, I dropped my phone onto the sand. Taking all this beauty in while the breeze was coming from the north. After thinking through the thoughts that involved Simon while looking at the beautiful scenery. Fishing through my front pocket, I was able to find the thing that I was looking for, I am ready to make up my decision. I pulled it out and typed in the number that was on the business card. I pressed the call button while waiting for the other person to pick up.
After three whole rings, I heard a voice coming through THE OTHER SIDE. “Hello,” hearing a deep voice.
“Hi Simon, it's me Darlene Parker, and I had the offer in my mind. I finally made a decision and I would like to accept the proposal,” I said while giving a business type tone.
