3. You're Just Like Your Dad

Toni POV

As I stood in my corner of the ring, I hopped up and down trying to stretch my muscles and clear my head. I continued to study Dan, looking at all the possibilities I had to knock him out.

"C'mon princess I don't have all day." Dan teased.

"Shut up, you and I both know that I could take you." I spat.

I looked to my right and saw Liam give Harry another worries glance. Honestly, it was funny to see that Dan's size made them think that I didn't have a chance. The thing that I looked forwards to though, was their faces after I won the match.

"Don't you guys have to wear helmets." Harry said in an uncertain voice.

I laughed and started walking to the middle of the ring, watching as Dan looked at the boys and shook his head no.

"Listen sweetheart, I already told you... This isn't the boxing that you're used to." I smirked at him before getting in a defensive stance and locking my gaze on Dan who met me at the center and held one hand out

"Touch gloves?" He offered politely.

I smacked his hand away and took a small step back, trying to find the route of my strength and his weakness.

"Oh, look who's so tough." Dan cooed.

"Shut up." I spat as I focused. I remembered how Dan always talked about his weak stomach and how he wasn't find of losing his breath.

Using my trance like state against me, he tried to take the first swing, but I quickly snapped out of it, dodged his fist, and punched him in the rib cage.

He stumbled back a step before regaining his composure and eyeing me with a harsh gaze. He stepped back a few steps as I advanced and he held his gloves in a defensive position. I took one step closer when he tried to hit me and dodged him easily. With every hit he came at me with, I had a way to block it and counter. As he tried to use his leg to sweep my feet out from under me, with an obvious need to get a hit in, I jumped and took the opportunity to punch him square in the jaw. Even as I landed, I never took my eyes off of Dan, seeing the look of defeat begin to fill his eyes.

No matter what happens, you can never take your eyes off of your oppenent. He's going to try some swift shit, but don't let 'em fool you... they'll do anything just to take a shot.

Dan stumbled back and held his jaw with his right hand- luckily for me, that was the hand he normally punched with. I made me way towards him, swinging at anything that he left exposed. I hit the side of his rib cage again, his head, his stomach, and then straight into his diaphragm. The last hit I took made his fall back onto his ass, patting the matt.

I rolled my eyes as I spit out my mouth guard and held out my hand to help him up. He took it reluctantly and stood up slowly, clutching his jaw with one hand, and his stomach with the other.

"Seriously? That wouldn't have even classified as one round." I scoffed.

"Holy shit! Did you see that?!" Liam exclaimed," that was frickin' amazing!"

I looked over at him to see his face written with total joy and excitement.

"How the hell could you fight someone his size?" Harry asked, his face showing utter bewilderment.

I found myself laughing at his question, and thought about what my dad would say.

"When you're in the ring, size doesn't matter. Strategy, and what you bring to the match,is what matters. You can't let size throw you off because, for all you know, he could just be a really big guy with no boxing experience."

"But he didn't even lay a finger on you!" Liam beamed as he slipped under the ropes and into the ring.

"They don't call me the champ for nothing." I chuckled, amused by his surprise. As I took off my gloves I saw Harry come into the ring too. Something about that kid seemed off to me. He was quiet, too quiet, and he always looks so out of it.

"You know, you can't train in my gym and take any steroids, or drug of any kind." I pointed out, kind of narrowing my eyes at Harry.

"Are you trying to say I look like I'm on drugs?" He demanded.

" I'm not gonna lie, you seem really out of it and lost to me." I shrugged.

Harry's green eyes turned dark with anger and I saw his fists start to clench.

"Listen pal, you can clench your fists all you want, but don't blame me for speaking my mind." I laughed at him, completely unfazed by his obvious anger. His appearance of anger shattered once he notice how much I was ignoring it. I smirked and crossed my arms over my chest, mirroring Harry, trying to get a rise out of him. He scoffed and slouched back against the ropes, obviously absorbing the fact that I don't take shit from anyone.

"Don't pay attention to him, he's been going through some stuff that's got him a little over the edge." Liam said as he took an annoyed look at Harry.

"Well maybe if he didn't walk around looking like a fucking lost puppy on crack- I wouldn't have said a word." I spat as I looked into Harry's eyes, seeing nothing but anger. I got in his face an narrowed my eyes.

"Listen princess," I spat," this is how I box... My attitude is just a bonus. Either click with it or leave."

"You think you're so tough?" Harry shot back, but I saw the hint of fear in his eyes.

"You and I both know that I am." I smirked.

"You should really watch the way you talk to people. Didn't your father teach you any manners?" Harry growled.

The mention of my father immediately set my blood to flames. I pounced on Harry, pinning him to the ground. I didn't hit him, but I kept my fist raised, obviously catching him by surprise. I saw the fear in his eyes blaze as I breathed in deeply through my nose, attempting to calm myself down. When I felt Harry submit I put my fist down and got up and off of him.

"What was that?! You could've knocked the kid out!" Dan burst.

"I apologize to you Liam, but if Curly here wants to play games and act all tough, don't expect me to stick around and keep my mouth shut." I stepped back and glared angrily at Harry who got up and stepped close to Liam.

"Look, Toni is it? I'm sorry if Harry sent you off, but please don't take it as us playing with you. He just has his own way of dealing with threats."

I saw Harry lean against a wall and put his head in his hands. When I walked up to him, I only had to use one hand to push his chest and plant him to the wall. His hands dropped to his sides as he looked up at me with greif and fear filled eyes. I ignored his puny feelings and pushed him against the wall harder.

"Toni don't do anything stu-

"Shut up." I spat at Dan, keeping eye contact with Harry, who was now written with fear, looking from one of my eyes to the other quickly.

"Listen rich boy, I don't know who you think you are, coming in here thinking that your attitude's gonna work with me... but next time you think it's a good idea to come here and bring up my father..." I trailed off and pushed him against the wall even harder.

"Leave your problems at the door."

I pushed off of him and took a step back.

"Got it?" I demanded.

"Y-yes." He stammered.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes as I turned and walked over to Dan.

"They are going to need a serious attitude adjustment, especially him." I mumbled as I gestured to Harry who still had a glint of fear in his eyes as he met my heated gaze.

Dan started chuckling as he looked me in the eye. He's shook his head and put a hand on my shoulder.

"What?!" I demanded.

"You and your feistiness... You don't take anything from anyone, and you'll spit right in their face to prove a point- metaphorically speaking."

"Yeah, what's your point?" I asked, shaking his hand off my shoulder and crossed my arms over my chest.

"I can see it just by the way you fight and talk about it to other people..." Dan trailed off as he looked at me.

"You're just like your Dad."

"Good, maybe they'll listen to me better that way." I scowled.

Dan just laughed and shook his head as he went to show the boys around and teach them the basics. I took this as an opportunity to run into the locker room and take a breather. Honestly, that one fight and struggling with Harry took a lot out of me. As I ran to the sink and washed my face with cold water I saw the bags under my eyes. I hadn't slept well in a few days, the fights had been the only thing on my mind...but now I had to give them up. What else can I possibly do if not box?
