I tugged my hood over my head as I walked into the lobby and behind the front desk, ignoring the people who were waiting. I put a fake smile on my face as I raised my head to acknowledge two boys. One had brown hair with a small quiff and brown eyes, the other had a mess of brown curls and bright green eyes.
"Hey guys, sorry about the wait. I'm Toni, I'm the owner of the gym. How can I help you?" God, being nice and civil was hard work.
"Well, my name's Liam Payne," the one with the brown eyes said with a smile," and this is my friend Harry Styles." He gestured to the boy with green eyes who smiled, showing off his dimples.
"Do you guys have a membership?" I asked.
"No, but we were hoping to get one today." Liam smiled. Ugh, I could already tell that he was a goodie-two-shoes.
"Ok then," I reached under the counter and pulled out two packets," fill these out, and follow the signs to the gym to come find me when you're done." I handed them both a pen and gave them a quick smile before turning around and rolling my eyes.
"Thanks a bunch." I heard the other one finally speak up.
I turned around and put my fake smile back on.
"You're welcome. I'll just be down the hall in the ring, don't be afraid to look around." I said, trying to be polite.
"Wait- ring as in boxing?" Harry asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Yes," I nodded," girls can do that too, ya know." I chuckled, letting some of my attitude show.
"No- I didn't mean it like that, I was just curious." He said quickly.
"It's cool, I get that reaction a lot... No worries." I waved it off and turned back around. As I started to walk away I was stopped, again.
"Do you mind if we watch? We finished the packets and we were wondering if you'd show us how it's done." Liam called.
"I'll be happy to show you. I just need an experienced boxer to go against; let me ask my trainer Dan." I called over my shoulder.
"Great thanks." I could practically hear the smile I his voice.
"Follow me to the Gym and I'll leave you guys to do your thing while I look for Dan."
"Ok." Liam responded.
"Cool." Harry said quietly.
I heard their footsteps behind me as I turned a corner and pushed through the doors of the gym. When I walked in I saw Dan lifting weights- from what I could see he was bench pressing 250lbs.
"Holy shit." I heard Liam gasp.
I chuckled and turned to face them.
"Yeah, that's Dan." I laughed slightly at the looks of astonishment on their faces.
"What's he pushing, 200 pounds?" Harry gaped.
"No," I chuckled," that's about 250."
"260, actually." I heard Dan say, causing me to spin around.
"Oh my god." They gasped.
"Well, someone's got to keep in shape to keep up with her. Have you seen her box? I'd be dead by now if I didn't work out." Dan laughed, ruffling up my hair. For a second I forgot we weren't alone and jumped back, getting into a self defense position. I playfully punched at Dans stomach and laughed as he swatted at my hands.
I put my arms down and nudged him before refocusing on Liam and Harry. They were still gawking at Dan's huge muscles.( Dan's about 6 feet tall and weighs about 230, most of it being muscle. His biceps and triceps were probably the size of my head.)
"You guys still wanna see me box?" I chuckled.
They both shook their heads, as if to shake themselves from a trance, and nodded.
"Would you mind being my oppenent?" I asked, looking at Dan.
"No I would not, lemme grab our gear and I'll meet you in the ring." He smiled. I nodded and turned towards the ring. As I sat down and began to wrap my hands I saw Harry and Liam sit on both sides of me.
"You're not worried that you'll get hurt?" Harry asked.
"That guy... Dan, he looks like he could crush a car with his bare hands." Liam added.
I stopped what I was doing and bursted out laughing.
"Oh my god, I guess you guys have never heard of me," I laughed.
"No, should we have?" Liam asked.
"Well sweetheart, I've won every match I've been in, even against girls in higher weight classes. I've knocked out a guy bigger than Dan in the first round." I chuckled and finished wrapping my hands.
"Wow, you must be pretty famous." Harry gasped.
"Yeah, that sounds pretty serious."
"Not in the boxing world that you guys see... I'm more of and underground boxer; nothing you would ever see on a daily basis." I shrugged
"That's sounds cool." Liam smiled.
"That makes two of us who think so." I smiled back. Dan hated that I put everything into boxing and I remember my mother telling me how much she had hated it. My dad was 100% behind me when it came to boxing, but now he's gone so it's just me.
"I'm pretty interested in stuff like boxing and wrestling." Liam said with a proud look on his face.
"Well, first of all, wrestling is all staged and fake; boxing is a real fight that usually ends with the winner covered in blood and the loser going to the hospital. My kind of boxing is a bit illegal...but I could definitely help you pursue it if you're interested."
"That sounds great actually." Liam beamed.
"You just can't tell many people about it, most of the stuff I do is meant to knock an apponent out in the first round." I smiled as I thought of all my past matches. Neither of them seemed convinced, but I didn't mind; not many could tell that I was a boxer by my appearance.
"Don't worry, we wont tell a soul." Liam said, pretending to zip his mouth and throw away the key. I looked at Harry and he did the same.
"Alright," Dan suddenly came over and threw my boxing gloves and mouth guard at me," get up." He then looked at Harry and Liam and gestured towards the mats.
"Consider this a wake up call. After this I doubt you'll slack off when it comes to working out... Not that Toni wouldn't kick you out if she caught you slacking." He added the last part with a smile.
Harry and Liam both exchanged worries glances, but reluctantly nodded before looking at Dan and I as we prepared to fight.
Dan turned back to me as he put his mouth guard in and slipped on his gloves. I smiled as he got ready and studied his composure.
