Despite the smiles I had on my face, I was secretly frightened that Harry was about to fight Toni; he had told me about her fight against her trainer. I didn't believe it at first, but after meeting her there was no doubt that she was tough. Unlike everyone else, I saw through her attitude and saw the walls that she had put up. It came especially obvious when she teased and tainted Harry in a playful way and smirked at Liam who always bet on her. To me, it was quite obvious that she needed friends like Liam and Harry to confide in. I just wondered why everytime I looked at her I could see past her smile and see the pain in her eyes.
"Harry has no chance." I heard Liam chuckle; he obviously knew how Toni fought, he and Harry were here everyday.
"No way, he will not lose to a girl." Louis said as he shook his head.
"I don't know, Louis. She seems really tough to me." Niall said quietly. Liam laughed at him and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Aw, is Niall scared of Toni?" Liam teased. I laughed and shook my head at them.
"Shut up." Niall mumbled under his breath.
"Oi," Louis called towards Toni and Harry who were getting ready," let's go. I wanna see if Harry has a chance or not."
"I'm gonna go with... Or not." Liam laughed.
I looked from his to Toni and saw her laugh. Harry looked genuinely frightened, but her gave her a questioning look.
"Any last words?" Toni smirked.
"Please don't kill me." He said quietly.
"C'mon Hazza! You can do this!" Louis cheered. I looked over at him and saw him smirk at me.
"No he can't." Louis mouthed to her, causing us to chuckle.
"Yeah, thanks." Harry grumbled.
"C'mon Hazza," Toni danced around him, mocking the tone that Louis had used," you wouldn't wanna lose to a girl now, would you?"
I saw Harry tense up as he tried to focus and get into a proper stance. Toni chuckled at his tense composure and snuck a glance at me and the others. I smiled at her and watched as they got ready to fight.
I saw Harry gulp before getting into a defensive stance.
Toni winked at him and smiled.
"Don't worry, I won't aim for your face." She laughed. I laughed with her, as did Liam. Judging on how he watched her, I could tell that he knew she was lethal.
Toni held up her hands and immediately swung at Harry's exposed stomach. That one blow had Harry stumbling back, hissing in pain. He swung for her head, and I was sure that he was going to hit her. At the last second Toni dodged it of the way and kicked the back of his knee, sending him to the ground. She walked to stand on front of him and said something that we couldn't hear. Harry quickly jumped up and held his arms up defensively.
His arms didn't block much, similar to the way I had tried to stand earlier, but Toni let him go without telling him to fix it; perhaps she was using it as her secret advantage. Harry took a hesitant step forward, but put a noticeable amount of force into the hit he tried to exert on Toni's head. She stepped back quickly, though, swatting his hands out of the way and quickly hitting his stomach, sending him back a few steps.
"Wow, he hasn't even layed a finger on her." Niall said as he watched.
"She holding back," Liam said with a neutral face," I've watched her train for the past four days and I've never seen her hesitate to hit someone."
"What do you mean?" We all asked at the same time.
Just as we asked, a man who was quite large and muscular walked in from the locker room.
"Hey Dan!" Liam called.
The man looked over and squinted to see us all. When he saw Liam he waved and smiled.
"Hey Liam," the man called back," you've brought friends I see." He lowered his voice as he walked over.
"Yeah, these are my band mates Louis, Niall, and Zayn." We waved and shook his hand as Liam introduced us.
"Well, I'm Dan, Toni's trainer." The man, Dan, smiled.
"Y-your the Dan that Toni fought?" Niall stuttered. If you thought he was scared by Toni, you should see his face now. It looked like he was about to pee himself.
"Yeah, that's me." Dan sighed.
I saw him glance at Toni and Harry, his facial expressions instantly hardening.
"What is she doing Liam?" Dan asked, sounding disappointed.
"I don't know, but she holding back, that's for sure."
Dan pulled a whistle out if his pocket, quickly blowing it. The high pitched sounded caused us to cover our ears and the others to stop fighting.
"What the hell do you want?" Toni snapped when she saw Dan.
He ignored her and tapped Harry, holding his hands out for his gloves. Harry glanced at a fuming Toni before giving Dan his gloves and quickly slipping out of the ring.
"Hey man,"Louis smiled," I was wondering..."
"What is it Lou?" Harry sighed.
"What's it like to get beat by a girl?" He laughed causing us to laugh along.
"Shut up carrot head." Harry mumbled as he sat down with us.
"You had no right to do it in the first place!" Toni suddenly yelled, causing us to snap our attention towards her and Dan.
"I can see your mad, but-
Toni cut him off by pulling her arm back and punching him right in the face, which was pretty hard considering she had taken her gloves off. Dan took a step back and held his nose.
"Woah." Louis and Niall gasped. I just sat there and noticed Toni turn red with anger.
Dan opened his mouth to say something, but Toni cut him off again taking swing after swing at his face, stomach, and arms.H e suddenly stumbled back under the pressure and she immediately jumped on him, about to punch him in the nose.
Liam sprinted into the ring and grabbed Toni's arm before she could bring her fist down. However, he was no match for her; she easily broke from his grip and punched Dan's nose.
"Holy shit." Louis gasped.
"Harry help me!" Liam called as he wrapped his arms around Toni and tried to pull her off.
Harry ran over and helped Liam pull Toni off of Dan as his nose poured blood.
"Toni, calm down." Harry said quietly.
"No! That bastard deserves that after going through my stuff!" She yelled as she fought their grip.
Dan got up, holding his nose with one hand, and pointing at Toni with the other.
"I had every right to go through it because if I didn't you would've never remembered."
"What I do with my life has nothing to do with you." Toni spat.
We all looked from one of them to the other, completely oblivious to what they were arguing about.
"What do you want me to do, Toni? Act like it's okay? You and I both know that you're dad would've done the same thing; I'm looking out for you and making sure you're safe!"
"I don't need you to look out for me! I already had to give up underground fighting for you-
"Because I couldn't risk you getting incarcerated!" Dan yelled.
We all shrank back at the sound of him yelling.
"Well I don't have cancer anymore so stop treating me like the child I was when I did!" Toni yelled back.
We all gasped and looked at her, shocked as we realized what they were talking about, sort of.
"That doesn't matter, whether you have it or not, you have to take your medication." Dan sighed.
Toni didn't respond as she saw our looks of shock. She just ripped her arms from Liam and Harry's grip and walked away.
"You can't keep running from your problems Toni." Dan called.
Toni stopped in her track and spun around, her bright green eyes darkening with anger.
"I'm not running! I'm removing myself from a situation that could end with someone's blood on my hands." Toni spat before stalking off and into the locker rooms.
"Now do you believe me?" Liam asked looking at us.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"None of you even thought she was close to being strong, now I can see the look of fear in each of your eyes." Liam smiled. Harry looked at him and smiled too, Dan slowly smiling with them.
"How are you smiling? She basically threatened to kill you!" Niall exclaimed.
"She's just angry, she'll say anything when she's angry just to get it off of her chest." Dan shrugged.
"You may not see it, but she is a sweet, sensitive girl at heart." He added with a smile.
"As weird as it may sound... I believe you."I nodded.
"Isn't she lovely?" Harry laughed.
"Would you care to explain what that was about?" I asked, suddenly very curious.
"What do you think it was about?" Dan snapped.
I flinched back and raised my hands in defeat. This caused Dan to sigh and run a hand through his black hair.
"I'm sorry, she's just stressing me out a lot lately. You see she had cancer years ago and I found out that she's stopped taking her medication. I had to go through her bag to figure it out, but I'm just looking out for her." He paused and looked at each of us.
"Go on." Liam nodded.
"Well... I'd prefer to tell the stories in a place where Toni isn't around to hear. I don't really feel like getting my ass kicked three times in one week."
Louis chuckled, but immediately stopped when Dan glared at him.
"Something funny?" Dan demanded.
"N-no, not at all s-sir." Louis stuttered, causing me to smile; finding pleasure in his scared state.
"Let us remember that I'm about three times your size, therefore I could whip your puny ass in seconds." Dan snapped.
"Y-yes sir, sorry sir." Louis nodded, glancing at each of us for some kind of help.
"So, you said there was a story to tell?" Liam interjected.
Dan turned to Liam, but kept his eyes on Louis for a second.
"Sure," Dan nodded towards the door," follow me."
My attention turned to the locker room before I walked behind the others. Something told me that I shouldn't leave her alone, but I knew that 1) Dan had an important topic for discussion 2) Toni was capable of taking care of herself 3) I didn't want to be the one that she took her anger out on if she got worked up again.
