Toni's POV

"So, I have to stay in a brace for how long?!" I burst.

"It's necessary for you to stay in it for at least a month. If its condition does not get better, or worsens, it'll turn into a cast that will remain for at least three to four months." The nurse told me with a sympathetic smile.

I groaned and fell back in the examination table, making the paper beneath me crinkle.

"It's not that bad, Toni." Liam insisted.

"You just need to stay off your leg for the entire month and do your best to leave the heavy lifting to someone more capable." The nurse added.

"I was capable before my leg gave out." I grumbled.

"Which reminds me; when's the last time you ate a full meal?" She asked, pulling out her clipboard.

I sat up and it took me a while to remember.

"Well, this morning I drank a protein shake and ate a banana before going to work. After that I drank about two Gatorade bottles at the gym." I responded after a while.

"I'm sorry to say this, but that's just not enough. With the amount of training you seem to be doing, your body doesn't have enough to work off of. From what your partner...," she looked through the papers on the clipboard," Dan Sullivan, that you're overworking yourself lately. Your body isn't going to pull through much longer if you work yourself without the proper nutrients... As a trainer you should know this."

"I know, I know." I sighed, putting my head in my hands.

"I don't want to have to remind you this again Toni. You're a very talented girl, my son has gone to every fight... I'd hate for you to have to quit all together." She tucked her brown hair behind her ear and sat down on her swivel chair.

"Now, I want you to advance to eating two to three meals a day, and getting at least nine hours of sleep a night- maybe more on the weekends. Dan notified me that you will remain working at the gym regardless of what we say, but I advise that you abide by what we say and just rest. I'm sure this polite lad will stay with you and help you out." She smiled

I looked at Liam hesitantly and he smiled.

"She won't leave my sight." He said as he looked at me, still smiling. His brown eyes were shining as he looked into my green ones. The doctor smiled as she stood and nodded.

"That's good to hear," she reached for the door as she met my gaze," take care of yourself Toni."

I nodded and waved as she left, sighing in relief once she was gone.

"You don't expect me to let you watch me like a-

"I promised that I'd take care of you, and that's exactly what I'm going to do." Liam interjected.

"Not to be rude or anything...but I'm not up for someone rooming with me at my parents old house." I said quietly.

"Then you can stay with the lads and I." Liam smiled before standing and helping me down from the table.

I mumbled a thanks for the help, but eyed him wearily.

"What?" He asked, noticing my stare.

"I don't want to intrude...and I'm sure that five boys don't want a girl living with them." I said hesitantly.

"Nonsense! You'll stay with us until you're well and then we'll be out of your hair, besides when you train us of course." Liam beamed and put an arms around my shoulders as we walked out of the doctors office.

I knew that Liam meant well but, knowing my attitude problems, I don't want to end up snapping and making him and the lads hate me.

"And, I'm just saying, we know about your personality by now and we've gotten used to you have nothing to worry about there." Liam said as we walked to the Range Rover, reading my mind. He gently lifted me into the truck and helped me with my seatbelt.

"Thanks, Liam." I muttered quietly.

Liam chuckled lightly as he looked up at me.

"Listen, just because you seem to have such a hard exterior, that doesn't mean that you can't be sweet and caring around me."

I stayed silent until he closed the door and ran to hop in on the drivers side. Once the truck was started Liam pulled out of the hospital parking lot and onto the highway.

After a few moments of silence I noticed Liam turn to look at me quickly.

"Toni?" He asked, sneaking another glance at me.

"Yeah Liam?"

"We see it, you know?"

"See what?" I asked, confused by what he meant.

"Your soft side. I mean, I could tell how you go easy on us and try to have fun when we're around. Personally, I would love to be your friend as I would love for you to be mine. I mean, everyone needs a friend, you know? And I just feel like you deserve to be happy and I- the lads and I could be the ones that help you be happy. I mean-

"Liam," I laughed," you're babbling."

"I'm sorry." He smiled, from where I was sitting I saw his cheeks turn a light pink.

"But you're right," I nodded slowly, watching as cars passed," I need to let my feelings show.... I just don't trust anyone enough to be that way." I answered honestly.

I don't know why, but I just felt that I could speak openly around the lads, Liam especially. He was so openly honest and tried his best to help and speak his mind. There was something about him that made me feel like I could let my walls down and let him help me.

"What were you like? Were you a cute little pony tail wearing girl?" Liam looked at me quickly and chuckled. I laughed with him and shook my head.

"No, not at all. I was the kind of girl that, on top of boxing, was really friendly and had loads of friends. I used to have this one friend, named Jacob, that I used to go get ice cream with at the same place every Saturday. My best friend at the time, Maggie, had this Ouija board that we would play with whenever me and Jake slept over. Her mom didn't care, but me and Jacob would always make the board say something like 'I'LL KILL YOU MAGGIE!' just to scare her. Her brother, Alex, would chase us throughout our neighborhood for hours. He wouldn't stop untill he caught us and yelled for giving his baby sister night frights." I laughed at the memory as I imagined me and Jacob running around town.

"Night frights?" Liam asked, sounding confused.

"That's what I call nightmares... My mom used to say it like that, so I carried on with it." I shrugged.

"Ah, I see." Liam nodded and sent me a quick smile.

After a few moments, Liam pulled up at this HUGE house. It looked like I could fit ten of my houses inside.

"Woah." I gasped quietly.

( )

"You like it?" Liam asked as he put the truck in park.

"It's huge! How do you live here by yourself?!" I gaped.

"Well, the lads live here too. I mean, I wouldn't have gotten a place this big without them." Liam explained.

"Ah, I see." I said, mocking his previous statement.

Liam chuckled as we both smiled at eachother.

"See, this is what I mean... You seem like such a happy, carefree girl and it gives me pleasure to see you act so happy." Liam smirked

"Thanks...?" I laughed nervously.

"I'm going to run into the house quickly and let the lads know that you're here. After that I will come back out and help you, is that okay?" Liam proposed.

"Sure, that's fine. I'm going to call Dan and let him know the deal." I smiled.

"," Liam opened the door and stepped out," I guess I'll see you in a bit." He added the last part after turning back around to look at me. Once he left I reached down for my back pack and pulled out my phone. Truth is, I wasn't really in the mood to hear Dan's voice, as rude as that might sound, but I'd just prefer to stay calm and mellow. I opened up my messages quickly and tapped on his name:

*Toni: hey, quick heads up; I'm going to be staying with Liam and the others for a while so they can take care of me, er whatever... *

I sat in silence until my phone chimed a minute later.

*Dan: that's cool... Let me know if you need anything. You can always crash here if you change your mind*

*Toni: thanks, but no thanks... I'm good*

*Dan: well... Alright. I guess I'll see you on Monday..?*

I had debated whether I should actually work... I mean, if I wasn't training anyone, what was the point? Besides, I hated working the front desk, that's what Dan was around for.

Is it really fair to leave all the work to him, though? I sighed.

*Toni: I'll be there around 10-ish...*

*Dan: Good! I would hate to have to go without hearing your smart remarks :)*

It was moments like this that made me remember why I got along with Dan. He was a super tease, but he was also a good friend and a great trainer.

*Toni: oh sure...and I suppose that I couldn't go a day without remarking on all your stupid mistakes :p*

*Dan: lol.. Well, see ya then*

*Toni: kk, see ya*

As I looked up from my phone, I saw Harry rushing to the car, closely followed by Liam. I saw the others hang back near the front door- I don't blame them; we never talked so we never got the chance to become close like Harry, Liam, and I. Harry quickly opened my door to help me out and Liam reached around me for my backpack.

"Hey sunshine," Harry beamed," I'm happy to see that we have a new roommate."

"Yeah, well, Liam offered and he wouldn't exactly let me say no.... I think he just needed an excuse to get the only friend he has to stick around." I smirked at the last part and Harry chuckled.

"Hey!" Liam protested.

Harry and I laughed as his cheeks turned pink with embarrassment.

"Don't worry LiLi... Your secret is safe with me." I teased, using a baby voice and pinching his cheeks. I laughed as he batted my hands away and tried not to smile.

"C'mon," Harry put my arm around his shoulder to help me walk," let's get you settled in."

I muttered a quick thanks as he helped me up the stairs and into the house; it looked utterly amazing once I stepped inside.

( )

"Woah... This place looks amazing."

"Nah, it's nothing really." Harry shrugged as he helped me down and onto the couch.

"What do you mean?! I would kill to live in a place like this! It seems so comfortable and welcoming." I said in disbelief as I looked around, my favorite room was the kitchen.

"Well, I suppose you right." Harry shrugged as he sat down next to me. The others walked in all at once and Liam immediately took a seat next to me.

"So..." Liam began.

"What's up?" I asked as I looked at each of them.

"Welcome home!" Louis shouted before jumping on me, being careful not to land on my leg. I laughed nervously at his sudden act of affection, it was quite awkward actually. I pushed him off of me lightly, but he lost balance and fell right onto his bum.

"Ow, that really hurt." He squeaked from the floor. We all laughed as he scrambled to get up and dust himself of.

"So, Toni, how are you feeling?" Niall asked, worry was noticeable in his eyes.

"I'm alright, thanks." I smiled.

"Not to be rude or anything, but this is the happiest I think we've ever seen you." Zayn spoke up as he sat down on a white arm chair.

"I'm just doing what Liam asked and showing my true colors." I said as I looked at Liam, who smiled genuinely back at me.

"That's great," Zayn smiled too," we'll catch on great then."

Confident much?

"I suppose so." I smiled lightly.

"How much do you have with you at the moment?" Harry asked, gesturing towards my bag.

"Well, I always pack two changes of clothes, toiletries, and a bathing suit when I leave for work. So, that's all that I have now, besides what I'm wearing." I explained.

"We should go get some of your stuff- if you don't mind. I just think that if you're going to stay here that you should feel at home." Liam said as he stood up.

"Liam, stop rushing. The poor girl just got here, take it easy." Zayn chuckled.

"Yeah, why don't I show you to the guest room and you can rest. We'll take care of the rest." Niall smiled; he seemed like such a sweet boy.

"Umm, sure, that's sounds great." I smiled. I slowly sat up and tried to push myself up.

"Woah," Niall came over and put an arm around my waist to help me up," I got ya." I smiled and quickly thanked him as he helped me walk though the living room and down a hallway. As we reached the third door on the right, Niall stopped and opened the door to a sky blue room with a white bed. Blue was one of my favorite colors, and the bed was full sized, so I immediately fell for the room.

"This room is going to be yours," Niall sat me down on a white couch that faced my bed," and my room is right across the hall if you ever need me."

I nodded and gestured to the bed.

"Would you mind helping me up to the bed?" I asked.

"Oh! Of course," he quickly lifted me up and set me down on the bed," I'm sorry." He laughed and nervously scratched the back of his neck.

"It's fine, thanks though." I smiled reassuringly.

"Oh, no problem." His Irish accent really stood out compared to mine; mine was a mix of American and British from all the visits to America that my family used to take.

"Hey Toni!" I heard Harry call.

Niall quickly jogged to the door and stuck his head out.

"In here mate." He called back.

Within a few seconds Harry walked in and gave me a quick smile.

"Hey Toni, where do you live? The lads and I want to go get some of your stuff." Harry asked.

"I'll text you my address so you can map it, it's a few neighborhoods over from where the gym is." I explained.

"Ok, cool." Harry reached for my phone and quickly added his number into my contacts. When he gave me my phone back I texted him my address and smiled when I heard his phone chime in his back pocket.

"I just want to take this second to tell you guys how much I appreciate this. I mean, I'm so grateful to have friends like you." I smiled at Harry.

"Oh, don't mention it." He and Niall said at the same time.

"Well, if you guys don't mind, I'm going to take a nap and rest for a bit..." I yawned in the process of talking and rubbed my eyes.

"I'm exhausted after going to the doctors... I hate hospitals." I added.

"Oh, I totally understand. I utterly loath hospitals." Harry said quickly.

"C'mon mate," Niall pulled him out and gave me a quick smile," let's go and let Toni rest... She's had a rough day and she doesn't need ya being such a pest." To this Harry pouted, but waved at me quickly.

"Sweet dreams Toni." Harry said before Niall closed the door behind them.

"Thanks." I said under my breath. I shook my head at how affectionate these boys were and layed down with a sigh. As I reached for the duvet and pulled it over me I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

Just as I was about to fall asleep I heard my door open.

"Hey Toni?" I didn't open my eyes, but I 'hm'ed in response. I heard Louis walk over to my side and pet my head. With this my eyes darted open and met his green ones.

"Do you need me to stay with you? I mean, I don't want to leave you here alone." Louis offered. Being half asleep I didn't really think it through, after a day like this I just didn't really want to be alone. My eyes involuntarily closed as I nodded my head and patted the spot next to me. Though it was silent, I felt the bed dip and then Louis's arm wrap around me. It was times like these that I enjoyed being coddled, especially considering how weak I was feeling. I especially appreciated Louis's soft and cuddly nature, because his warmth calmed my muscles and helped me relax with ease. He must've thought I was sleeping because he moved my hair from my face and took a deep breath.

"Sweet dreams Toni." After that I felt him kiss my forehead. I smiled a bit before feeling him pull me against his chest, where I felt very warm, and fall asleep.

After that I fell sleep take over me with only Louis taking over all the thoughts in my head.
