--3 Days Later--
"Hey, Toni!" I heard Dan call from the locker room.
"Yeah," I called, as I walked in I saw him in my locker," what's up?"
Dan gave me and angry look and pulled a bottle of pills out of my bag. As I studies the bottle I realized that it was my bottle of Tamoxifen. My doctor had given it to me to treat the cancer that had spread to many parts of my body. Though it was gone, he made me take it to prevent me from getting it again.
"Why do you have that?" I asked.
"I could ask you the same question." Dan rounded.
"What do you mean? I told you why I have to take them."
"You just forgot to take them for the past two months! Toni, do you realize how many pills are in this bottle?"
"The bottle is practically full, not to mention that it was prescribed over three months ago. It should be empty by now." Dan cut me off.
"I forgot, okay? I've had a lot on my plate. Between training myself for the fight and being a personal trainer to the new guys... I've lost track of myself."
"That's not excuse Toni. Do you want to end up like your dad? He did the same thing that you're doing now; letting fighting take the place of your actual life." Dan's words suprised me, but it angered me to hear him speak with that tone and bring up my dad. I took a step closer and got in his face.
"Don't you dare bring up my dad. He died because he was ready, and he died while doing something he loved. Unlike him, I don't have cancer right now. All that's doing is keeping it that way, my doctor only prescribed it to be on the safe side. Not to mention, I was no where near as bad as he was. I had stage one, he had stage four...." I let my voice trail off as I backed away.
I heard the front desk bell ring and turned to walk away.
"Just keep your nose out of my business... I know what I'm doing."
When I walked into the lobby I saw Liam and Harry waiting by the front desk. This time they had three other boys tagging along. In the past few days we had gotten close, I guess you could say we were friends, and they came by every day, sometimes even twice a day. Harry and I got past out little dispute and he practically became my fighting partner. Both him and Liam have been following in my footsteps by taking up boxing, though they never took it farther then the gym; thank god.
"Hey guys! Welcome back, I see you've brought friends." I smiled at them.
"Hey Toni!" Harry beamed.
"Hey!" Liam smiled.
One of their friends cleared their throat, he had dark skin and black hair. The others, one had brown hair and sea blue-green eyes, the other had blonde hair with brown roots and crystal blue eyes.
"I'm sorry, where are my manners? Hey guys, I'm Toni Medeiros, owner of the gym." I smiled.
"Hi, I'm Zayn Malik." The one with black hair said. I shook his hand and nodded once.
"I'm Louis Tomlinson." The one with brown hair smirked cheekily. I shook off the goosebumps his smile gave me and turned to the blonde. He looked quite shy, but super cute when he started to blush.
"I'm Niall Horan." He said quietly.
"Nice to meet you all."
"Do you mind if they join us today?" Liam asked.
"Of course not, anything for my star members." I smirked at out own private joke.
Harry used to joke and ask for a gold star everytime they learned something new from me. The way I trained them reminded me if how my dad trained me, that's why I liked them so much; they made me fofill my dreams of being a great fighter and trainer like my dad had been.
"Follow me." I nodded my head towards the hallway as I turned and walked towards the gym.
As we walked down the hall and past the swimming pool area I heard someone gasp. I quickly turned to see Louis, and Niall gaping at the Olympic sized pool. Zayn chuckled and shook his head.
"Don't mind them, they're like two little kids whenever they see a pool." He smiled.
I looked at Harry and Liam before winking and puttin a serious face on. I crossed my arms as I walked in front of Louis and Niall.
"I'm sorry, is it not worth your time to pay attention and stay with the group?" I sounded like a teacher scolding students, especially when both of the boys turned red and shook they're heads.
"N-no." Niall stuttered.
"We're s-sorry." Louis stammered.
The way they looked at me expressed utter fear.
"I'm guessing Liam and Harry told you boys about my short temper." I chuckled.
They both hesitantly nodded, stealing a glance at the others who were smiling.
I leaned in closer and looked from one of them to the other.
"I've been in a good mood lately, mainly because your friends know not to get on my bad side. Let's try and follow in their footsteps, shall we?" I tilted my head sideways at them as they looked at eachother and then at me.
"Y-yes ma'am." They both stuttered.
"Good." I smiled before walking back up to Liam and Harry. We started walking but I stopped again, enjoying the fear I caused the other two boys.
"And one more thing," I turned to Louis and Niall," never call me ma'am again."
Liam laughed as I turned back and pushed into the gym.
"If you don't mind my asking, where are you from?" Zayn asked suddenly.
"Why do you ask?" I asked him as we walked into the locker room.
"I can't help noticing that your accent resembles Louis's" Zayn shrugged.
"I'm originally from Yorkshire, Doncaster to be exact." I explained.
"No way!" Louis exclaimed," me too!"
"Not that I remember it much, after I moved here, to London, I was disinterested in being reminded of home. You see, my father died and left me his home and the gym, so I gladly took it all over and this became my home."
"Oh, I'm sorry for your loss." Everyone but Harry and Liam said. They already knew and were basically my diary because they pushed every little detail out one day.
"Enough about me," I clapped and jogged over to the ring, grabbing my gloves and five other pairs," let's get ready."
I threw the pairs of gloves that Liam and Harry had bought and left here and nodded at them.
"I'm sure you two know what to do, pick one of them and help train them. You know what I expect so don't disappoint." I instructed, throwing the others each a pair a gloves.
Liam picked Niall and Harry picked Louis, leaving me to train Zayn.
"You seem very tough when it comes to boxing." Zayn laughed. It kind of bothered me to hear him laugh so I narrowed my eyes at him.
"What?" He asked.
"Boxing is my life, and definitely no laughing matter. Put your gloves on and meet me in the ring, I wanna see what you've got."
"I'm not really experienced with-
"Good," I cut him off and smiled," that gives me the opportunity to beat you up and train you properly."
Zayn suddenly lost his smile and gulped loudly. I nudged him playfully and laughed.
"I'm just joking, but I do need you to learn something."
I taught him the basics, such as blocking and keeping good defensive stances.
"You don't want to hold your hands too high up, or you'll leave your lower torso exposed." I told him as I tapped his stomach with my right hand. He laughed and lowered his arms, covering the previously exposed areas of his torso.
"Like this?" He asked.
"Yeah, perfect." I nodded.
"Now, I want you to take a swing at me." I instructed.
"What?!" Zayn asked bewildered, dropping his arms.
I swung at his stomach and laughed.
"Don't worry Malik, there's no way that you'll hurt me. Even your friend Harry could tell you that."
"How about this, you box against someone that has a bit more experience? After you do that and I study what happens, I promise that I'll train against you, deal?" He proposed.
"Sure, but I'm just agreeing because I can practically feel the fear radiating from your body." I teased. Zayn scoffed, but smiled and nudged me playfully.
I turned and looked around the room quickly, looking for a victim- partner for this practice match. Harry and Louis were goofing off by the weights, while Liam was teaching Niall defensive stances. I needed someone to go up against to show the newbies what I expect, and considering I was pissed at Dan for going through my stuff I had to pick one of them.
"Harry!" I yelled.
He and Louis immediately stopped laughing and jumped, both of them looking at me with confusion.
"Since you think this is play time, you're gonna be my demonstration partner." I called.
Harry's face instantly lost all color as he realized what I was asking of him.
"C'mon Styles, I haven't got all day." I rushed him and ushered Zayn out of the ring. Harry looked at Louis, who returned his frightened gaze, before hesitantly grabbed his gloves and walked over to the ring.
"Don't look so scared Styles, I'll go easy on you... Or maybe I wont." I said the last part for my own utter enjoyment, just to see him turn as white as a sheet. I laughed out loud at his obvious fear as he slipped under the ropes. I grabbed my mouth guard and watched as Liam helped Harry wrap his hands and place his mouth guard in. The others had all gathered on the mats to watch, each of them showing fear, except Liam. Liam had a smirk on his face, knowing that I was just messing with Harry. I winked at Liam and he smiled as he stepped back, joining the others as they sat down on the floor, talking amongst themselves.
"Oi," Louis called," let's go. I wanna see if Harry has a chance or not."
"I'm gonna go with... Or not." Liam laughed, joined by Zayn, Louis, and Niall. Harry scowled at then before turning to me. As Harry and I slipped our gloves on and stepped into the middle of the ring, I smiled deviously. After shaking his hand and stepping back I laughed. He raised an eyebrow at me and got into his defensive stance.
"Any last words?" I chuckled
"Please don't kill me." He said quietly.
"C'mon Hazza! You can do this!" Louis cheered. I looked over at him and saw him smirk at me.
"No he can't." Louis mouthed to me, causing me to chuckle.
"Yeah, thanks." Harry grumbled.
"C'mon Hazza," I danced around him, mocking the tone that Louis had used," you wouldn't wanna lose to a girl now, would you?"
I saw Harry tense up as he tried to focus and get into a proper stance. I chuckled at his tense composure and snuck a glance at Zayn who was still smiling, as were the others.
