"Kate, I'm sorry. I just, I don't know. It's for the best okay?" He whispered, his eyes staring directly at the carpet beneath his feet.
"How is it for the best, Tom? One minute you're telling me you love me and I mean everything to you and the next you're leaving?" I whispered, trying my best not to choke on tears that were slowly building up.
"Don't make this any harder than it already is." He pleaded.
I scoffed, shaking my head. He honestly is unbelievable. How could he sit here for the past hour, telling me how much he loves me, how much I mean to him and how he's going to make everything perfect for us, and then decide to end the relationship that we both had?
"I don't understand." I told him.
"There's nothing to understand. Just let it go, accept the fact we can't continue with this relationship." He shrugged.
"If that's what you want, then fine. I just can't believe there's no explanation as to why you're ending it, but what does that matter? Let's just let it go like you said." I sighed.
He stood there, shaking his head at me, looking at me as if I was some sort of idiot.
I was about to speak, I actually considered questioning him once again, but the tapping on the front door stopped me.
I watched as his figure moved closer to the door, pulling at the handle and opening the door.
"You're alive then." The familiar voice chuckled.
I faked a smile as Lewis, Tom's older brother made his way inside the house, looking around the room and smiling at me.
"Is now not a good time?" He raised his eyebrow, turning to face Tom who was stood there, as if he was some sort of statue.
"It's fine, Kate was just about to leave." Tom smiled.
"You're unbelievable." I muttered, shaking my head at him, walking towards the front door. "I'll be back tomorrow."
