Why is Tyson doing this, for God's sake's he's even smiling at me!
My thought turned into a jumbled mess as I walked back to my cabin. Why was Tyson smiling at me? Why was he acting like he's so nice? Why was I even giving him so much thought?
I went back up to my spot and Hunter hugged me. "You were great!" He whispered into my ear.
I looked to my right, Joshua wasn't there and Tyson was still giving me that little grin. He wasn't looking directly at me, but I knew he was watching me from the corner of his eyes. But that smile!
"Where's Joshua?" I asked.
"He went to the Infirmary, needed to take allergy pills." Hunter told me.
I nodded and let my attention turn back to the welcome bonfire. Guvna was talking about the rules of the camp.
A half hour later we were walking back to the cabin. I hung in the back of the group looking up at the stars, it was so beautiful. I never got to see skies like this back home.
I looked in front of me, Tyson was walking by my side and was still smiling at me.
His crooked little grin made my heart beat faster and I found myself out of breath and blushing, thank God it was dark out.
"You were good tonight, I'll admit you sing beautifully." He told me.
"Oh, well, um, thanks." I said. I smiled and looked down at my feet.
We both looked up and saw Hunter waiting for us. Tyson tensed up and let out a sigh.
"What are you doing? C'mon, we're playing games until lights out." Hunter told me, he seemed to forget about Tyson standing next to me. Tyson, almost reading my mind, shrugged and sped in front of us. I bit my lip, wait, why was I caring so much about him?
I shook the thoughts of him out of my mind and followed Hunter into the cabin. All of the guys except for Tyson and the councilors were sitting around an empty water bottle.
"Is she playing?" Jeremy asked.
"What game?" I asked.
"Spin the bottle, duh!" Harry said. He leaned back on his elbows and smiled at me.
Spin the bottle? I didn't know everything about the game, but I knew enough not to want to play. I smiled and shook my head. "No thanks boys, I hear a guitar calling my name."
"It's not the usual rules," Hunter said as everyone whined. "Whoever spins asks whoever it lands on a question and they have to answer."
"So, it's kind of like truth or dare mixed with spin the bottle." Harry explained.
I looked up at Tyson, he looked away from me and sighed. He put his ear buds back in and closed his eyes, resting his head on the wall. Would he care if I played? Would it make him jealous? Why did I even care about his opinion?
I nodded and sat down.
"I'm playing too."
We all looked up and my jaw dropped as Tyson sat across from me. Hunter shrugged and leaned over and I watched as the bottle started to spin. The bottle slowed and landed on me.
A rise of 'ooh!' rose from everyone. Tyson rolled his eyes and rested his chin on his hand. His eyes met mine and the glimmer returned.
"So, Scarlett, who do you like?" Hunter asked me.
"Oh uh..." wait, who do I like? My eyes met Tyson's again and I looked away, did I like him? "I don't know. I don't really like anyone."
A hushed laugh rose from the cabin. I forced a smile and leaned over and spun the bottle.
This went on for a while, all sorts of stupid questions rose and I found myself half-asleep on Hunter's shoulder.
"I'll help her."
I opened an eye and saw Tyson looking at Hunter like he was going to kill him. I closed my eye again as Tyson leaned down and gently shook me. I stumbled up and leaned on his shoulder as we walked to my little section of the cabin.
"Wow, what am I going to do with you?" I heard Tyson half whisper as I laid down on my bunk.
"You know I'm awake, right?" I whispered.
He chuckled and sat down on the bunk next to me, I felt his hand on the small of my back and I smiled. My cheeks flushed and I buried my face in my pillow.
"I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" Tyson asked. He got up to leave.
"Wait," I grabbed his hand I looked up at him, "what's up with you and Hunter?"
Tyson tensed up and ripped his hand away from me. "Goodnight, Scarlett."
