Always. It's a strong word. It can mean a lot, like how it meant to me when Niall told me he'd always love me. It can be a word that means nothing, like how it meant to Niall when he said he'd always love me. And then the next day, he left Mullingar and never came back. And I was alone. Always.

11. I've Stopped

My phone rang, and I picked it up after realizing it was my dad.

"Hi, Clover." I was surprised to realise he was sober. "Listen, the moment you left, I realised something."

"I'm an alcoholic." Are you serious? That's my dad... and if you were wondering, yes, he is blonde.

"Oh, uh, really, Dad?"

"Clover, I'm sorry. I was drawn in once your mum died, and it just numbed the pain away. And now I know that's probably one of the reasons you left."

"No! Well, yeah... but Dad, it's okay. You will stop, right?" I asked worriedly.

"Yes, Clover, I haven't had a drink all day." He chuckled. He chuckled. He chuckled! My dad hadn't laughed since I was ten!

"Dad, I'm really proud of you. But I'm not going to come back to Mullingar. I'm happy here." I said. And I was happy here, right? Right. Right?
