*Two Days Later*
I walk into my room and open the drawer of my bedside table. I pull out the only thing that's in there, a folder. I open it up and take the birth certificate out. I look at it and read it. I've read this five times already and I still can't get it out of my head. I just can't tell Maliyah, she'll be devastated!
I hear a knock on my door and immediately put Maliyah's birth certificate back in the folder and in the drawer.
"Come in!" I say and shut the drawer. I hear my door open and I turn around to see Maliyah poking her head inside my room.
"Dinner's ready." Maliyah said and I nodded.
"I'll be right there." I said and Maliyah left. That was close. I have to start locking my door.
I walk downstairs and into the kitchen to see Maliyah setting two plates down on the table, one in front of the other. She looks at me and smiles then she sits down at one of the plates so I sit down at the other. I pick up my knife and fork and start cutting the pork chop. I look up to see Maliyah eating the mashed potatoes. I look back down at my plate and take a bite of my pork chop.
"Why aren't you talking?" Maliyah asked and I looked up from my plate to see Maliyah looking at me concerned.
"Because I'm eating." I replied.
"That never stopped you before." Maliyah said and I took another bite of my pork chop.
"This is really good." I said and she rolled her eyes.
"Okay, what's up? You've been so weird for the last two days. What's wrong?" Maliyah asked and I put down my pork chop. I looked her in the eye and spoke.
"I'm fine Maliyah." I lied and picked up my pork chop with my fork. I took another bite and I look up to see that she's still starring at me.
"Tell me." Maliyah said.
"I'm fine! Can you understand English?! I'm fine!" I yelled and stood up, "FINE!!!" I yelled and she looked hurt.
"What is your problem!? I'm your sister! I know when somethings wrong! It's okay to admit somethings wrong Harry!" Maliyah yelled and I lost it.
"You're not my sister!!!!!" I yelled before I could stop myself. Maliyah looked at me funny and raised her eyebrows.
"I am too!" Maliyah said standing up, "Why wouldn't I be your sister? Of course I'm your sister you idiot!!" Maliyah yelled.
"You really think you're my sister?" I asked.
"Yes." Maliyah replied, plainly irritated.
"Have you ever seen your birth certificate?" I asked.
"Well...no," Maliyah said and I nodded my head, "but what does it matter?" Maliyah asked.
"Everything. I've seen your birth certificate. Come with me." I said and grabbed her hand. I led her upstairs to my room and I went to my bedside table.
I pulled out the folder and then I pulled Maliyah's birth certificate out of the folder. I handed it to her and she read it. She sat down on my bed and she looked like she was about to cry.
"Oh my gosh." Was all she said.
"I know everything." I said and she looked at me.
"Tell me. Even if I start to cry, keep telling me." Maliyah said and I sat down next to her.
"My mom took you in when you were a baby, when we were both babies, and she hid your birth certificate and said you were Maliyah Styles, not Maliyah Hill." I explained. Maliyah looked at her birth certificate then at me.
"And you knew all along?" Maliyah asked.
"Just for the past two days." I said and she nodded, "Are you okay?" I asked when she didn't say anything.
"No." Maliyah replied and put the certificate down on my bed. She looked at me with tears in her eyes and I wrapped my arms around her. She cried into my chest and I stroked her hair to try and comfort her.
