I was entering into my second trimester of pregnancy. I had brushed up on what I should be dealing with. Everything ranged from hormones to weird eating habits. I did my best to stay healthy though. “Hey, we should set up a play date when both of our babies are a bit older.” Eleanor smiled. I was visiting Eleanor at the house she shared with Louis. Eleanor was due sometime in spring and I, in the summer.
“That’d be a great idea.” I smiled. It was Saturday and Louis had taken their son out to the park. “We’ve been trying to find a playmate for Caden.” she said. I was glad to have Eleanor to speak to about what I was going through. At least, she had a few advices to give me. “With our first child, it was difficult with our work schedules and constantly getting up every time he cried. After a while, it just became easier. As much as you think you’re ready, you’re never really ready until the baby is born.”
The door opened and Caden came running in to greet Eleanor. “He’s been wanting you since we left the park.” Louis said, greeting Eleanor with a kiss on the lips. They just made everything seem flawless when they were together, like they had their life already planned out for them. “You can’t just make me carry everything in for you.” I heard Harry call out from the front entrance. “I’m not your maid.”
“Sorry mate.” Louis chuckled, grabbing the bag from Harry. He walked back into the living room with Eleanor while Harry and I just stood in our place. We hardly spoke to each other since he came home after staying at Louis’ for a few days. “Hey.” Harry said, putting his hands into his pockets.
"Hey." I said. "Do you want to grab something to eat? I'm starving." He chuckled lightly, thinking that I was joking. I actually wasn't, but I just smiled. "Sure." He opened the front door as we both said goodbye to Louis and Eleanor, then walked out of their house. We got in my car and drove to a local restaurant, one we haven’t been to in a long time. Parking the car in the lot, we got out and entered the restaurant. We were shown to our seats and sat down. “I just want to apologize for what happened that day.” he said once we began eating.
“I’m worried about us.” I looked down at my food and softly bit my lip. He reached out, taking my hand in his and caressed it gently. “We will work this out babe. I promise.” As much as I wanted to believe him, I feared that I’d be left with a broken promise.
My growing belly was soon noticed by everyone at work. I was immediately getting the attention that I've gotten back in high school. "Do you know the gender of the baby yet?" April asked. Harry and I were having lunch with our friends.
He and I exchanged glances with one another. "We do, just not going to announce it yet." I smiled.
"C'mon, why not?" Perrie asked. I let out a light chuckle and slightly shook my head. Of course my friends wanted to know the gender of the baby. "We just want to spoil your child." April added.
"Our child is going to have the best aunts and uncles." I said.
"Every child is going to be jealous." Niall said.
"I think El and Lou's child has the best aunt and uncle." Harry threw his arm around my shoulders, gently rubbing my shoulder in circles. "Caden just loves you two." Eleanor smiled. Louis came back to the table with Caden and sat down at the table.
"Have you two decided on a name for the baby?" Eleanor asked. I had been thinking of a few names, but I wasn't sure if Harry had thought of any. "Not yet, but I've been thinking on a few names. I'll know for sure when the baby is born." I smiled.
After lunch, Harry and I went back home. I sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. Harry walked over and sat down beside me. "You seemed silent today." I looked over at him. He had been focusing his attention on the TV.
I wondered what was going through his mind. "Harry?" I asked, but he still didn't turn to face me. I sighed, reaching over and turned off the TV. "I was watching that." he said, then turned to me. Finally, he looked at me.
"Is there something on your mind?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You haven't talked all day. Something is wrong."
"There's nothing wrong." He stood up and walked down the hallway. I stood up and followed him into the bedroom, closing the door. "I know you Harry. Please, talk to me. Tell me what's going through your mind." I said.
"What's going through my mind?" He faced me and in his eyes, I knew. His eyes told me everything what he was thinking and there were no words needed for explanation. I reached out with my hand and touched his face, gently caressing his cheek.
"Harry I love you. I know we haven't been doing what you want because all the attention is geared towards our child. I promise that I'll make everything up to you." I still had hope for the two of us.
I leaned in and kissed his lips, then pulled away. "We're going to be okay Harry." I hope that would be enough to reassure him. He nodded, then kissed my lips again. "I love you." he whispered.
"I love you too."
The next day, we went to shop for a lot of baby items. Of course, we wanted to be prepared with all of the baby necessities instead of putting it off last minute. My friends were going to plan a baby shower for me, whether I liked it or not. I didn't mind.
Harry and I had brought in the stuff from the store. "Have you picked out our baby's room?" I asked him, setting down the carrier near the staircase. Harry came downstairs and picked up the rest of the stuff, along with the carrier.
"You will love it once I'm done with it." he smiled. I expected for Harry to surprise me and just smiled. "I hope so."
"I know so." As of the current moment, everything had worked out between Harry and I. No arguments have started between us, and I'm afraid I will jinx it. I am always hoping for the best and that by the time the baby comes, both of us will be there to support him or her.
