As Zayn was battling the masked figure, the cops had came in.
Zayn has cuts on his face, and bruises all over, but he still fought. Zayn punched over and over, hitting the man's head each time.
The cops broke up the fight, and handcuffed the masked figure. They pulled off the man's mask. It was someone from Gales' group, Troy. They pulled him out of the theatre, and Zayn was soon attended by an officer who questioned him.
"What had happened?" The officer asked.
"He came in, and told everyone to put their hands up. And just shot upwards." Zayn explained.
"Okay, and what made you to try and fight him?" The officer asked.
"Well, I had to make sure nobody was going to get hurt, so I had to knock him down." Zayn replied.
"Okay, thank you, sir. You may be released." The officer said, patting his back.
Zayn walked out of the cinema, looking for Evie-Mae. She was waiting right at the front entrance of the cinema. She had tears in her eyes, and was very worried.
"Zayn!" She gasped, running up to him.
He caught her in his arms, and held her tight. Some tears let loose from her, and landed on the shoulder of his shirt.
"It's alright, I'm okay." He whispered in her ear, holding her tight.
"Why are you bleeding so much?" She asked him, looking up at the fresh cut of his eyebrow.
"Don't question, babe. I'm fine." He whispered, pushing his forehead onto hers.
He leaned in, their noses touching. He smelt her minty breath, mixed with the smell of fresh blood.
"Everything is gonna be okay. Okay?" Zayn whispered.
"Okay." Evie-Mae replied.
He pulled away, and grabbed her hand. They walked towards his car, and the group of those men Evie-Mae saw earlier, were now gone. Except, they left a note.
"Gotcha!- G", it had said. Zayn crumpled the note up, and stuffed it in his pocket.
Zayn was frustrated, but didn't want to show his anger, especially in front of Evie-Mae. She stood by the passenger door, watching Zayn think.
"I think you're gonna have to stay the night at my house." Zayn looked up.
Evie-Mae responded, "I don't know, Zayn. I have to be home before my dad does."
Zayn nodded, and asked her to toss over the keys. She handed him the keys, and he unlocked his car. They climbed in, and put the key into the ignition. The engine roared to life, and sent vibrations throughout car.
"I'll take you home, okay?" Zayn told her.
"Okay." She responded.
Zayn looked at the clock, it was 9:10. He had to meet the guys at eleven, tonight. He pulled out of the lot, and steered onto the main street.
They reached Evie-Mae's house around 9:25. He parked his car, turned it off, and walked her up to the front door. She unlocked it, gently pushing the door open.
"I'm gonna stay until eleven." Zayn said.
"No, it's okay. I'm fine." Evie-Mae reassured her.
"No, it's okay." Zayn insisted, pushing her inside.
She walked into the kitchen, while Zayn shut the front door, locking it. Zayn sat at the kitchen table, and watched as she poured herself a glass of water.
"You know that I'm gonna be fine, right?" Evie-Mae reassured him.
Zayn fiddled with his fingers, and smirked. He looked up at her, watching as she sat at the seat across from him. She set the glass of water on a coaster, and looked into his eyes.
"I would, but bad things could happen, and I won't be able to protect you." Zayn responded.
This alarmed Evie-Mae. What does he mean by that? Why did he want to protect her? This then got her mad; she was capable of fending her own self. Why did a guy need to protect her?
"Zayn, I can defend myself." Evie-Mae stated.
His eyebrows raised, "Oh, really?"
"Yes, I can." She answered.
"Prove it." He challenged, adding a smirk.
"No!" She exclaimed, "I don't wanna hurt you!"
He chuckled, "I thought you can defend yourself?"
Evie-Mae stood up, lifting the table. It tipped over, and the glass of water had shattered to pieces, and the water spattered everywhere. Evie-Mae then reacted, in shock that she actually did that.
Zayn stood up, and walked over to her, lifting her chin. He scanned her face, watching her tense muscles soon relax. He leaned in, their noses touching.
"I want to protect you." he whispered, looking down at her lips.
They were a neutral pinkish-tan color. They were plump, and dry. He looked back into her eyes, boring into her crystal blue orbs. She then looked up into his eyes, and then his lips. She moved her hands from the countertop, to around the nape of his neck.
He caressed her, using his finger to stroke her soft cheekbone. He wrapped his other hand around the small of her waist. They kept boring into each others eyes, but then Evie-Mae pulled away.
She went to get the broom and the mop, so she can clean the mess she had made before. She swept the glass, making sure she got every corner. Then, she mopped. Zayn had sat on the countertop, watching her.
Zayn looked up at the clock, it was 10:30. He had to leave before he was late for the meet-up at the pub. He fixed the table, and wiped it down. Then he put back everything that was set on it.
"Evie-Mae, I am so sorry about everything that happened tonight. It went all wrong, and I want to make it up by taking you on a date." Zayn apologized, watching as she put everything away.
"I-I guess we can try again." She replied.
"Maybe this weekend?" Zayn suggested.
"Sure, yeah." She answered.
"I'm sorry." He whispered.
She leaned against the wall, and looked at Zayn. He leaned over her, lifting her chin with his finger. His lips barely brushed over hers, and his breath tickled her skin.
The keys jiggling in the lock had made Zayn jump backward, almost making him lose his balance. The door opened, and her father had walked in, humming away.
"Hey, dad." She interrupted him.
"Hey, love. Who's this?" Her dad replied, nodding his head towards Zayn.
"I'm Zayn. It's a pleasure to meet you, sir." Zayn said, extending his arm out.
Her dad followed Zayn's motion, and they both shook hands. They both shared a grim smile, and pulled away.
"I have to go, my dog has to go out and stuff." Zayn lied.
"Okay. 'Night, Zayn." Evie-Mae and her father responded.
"'Night." He replied to them, smiling.
He opened the door, Evie-Mae following behind. He walked to his car, and hopped in. The engine roared to life and he waved at her before speeding off into the night. She closed the door, and locked it, and went to attend her father before going to sleep.
