"I mean, c'mon. These pancakes are good. At least have a piece of mine. " Evie-Mae chuckled.
"Fine. If you insist." He chuckles, taking a piece of her pancake.
He took it in his mouth. He savored its flavor, letting it slowly melt on his tongue. He swallowed it, looking up at Evie-Mae, who seemed to gaze at him with such interest.
"How's it taste?" She asked.
"Really good." He replied.
"Well, you can take some more. I'm not gonna eat it all." Evie-Mae offered.
"No, thanks. I'm good." He kindly obliged.
"You said you'd share with me. C'mon." She scoffed, a smile peeking onto her face.
"Fine. I'll take half." He agreed, smiling at her in return.
"Okay. Good." She smirked, grabbing the plate in front of him.
Evie-Mae's phone buzzed. It was Beth. She quickly answered, excusing herself to go to the restroom.
"Beth? Where are you?" Evie-Mae asked.
"I'm at the police station. Could you possibly bail me out?" Beth asked.
"Fine. I'll be there ASAP." Evie-Mae replied, hanging up.
Zayn was getting suspicious, so he got up and walked near the restrooms, where Evie-Mae was. He knocked on the door, "Are you okay in there?"
"Yup. I'll be out in a second." She said, opening the door.
Zayn left and walked back to the booth, waiting for Evie-Mae to come out. She soon returned, and asked if they could leave. Zayn paid, without telling her, and they left.
"Thank you for bailing me, Evie-Mae. You're a life savior." Beth approached Evie-Mae on the way out of the police station.
"Let's just go. I brought your car. I'm going to take a ride with somebody." Evie-Mae replied rather rudely.
"What's gotten into you?" Beth asked.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe my best friend doesn't know how to keep herself out of trouble?!" Evie-Mae answered.
Beth stood quiet. Evie-Mae threw the keys at her and left, hopping into Zayn's car. Zayn drove off with Evie-Mae, leaving Beth alone in the car lot of the police station.
"Turn left, here." Evie-Mae guided Zayn.
"Are you okay? You seem a little heated." Zayn replied, changing the topic.
"Yeah. I just want to go home and get these clothes off and go to sleep." Evie-Mae replied.
Zayn laughed. He tried to lighten her mood, so he put up some music.
"Goodnight, Zayn." Evie-Mae said.
"Will I ever see you again?" Zayn asked.
"Maybe. We can talk, sometime." Evie-Mae replied.
Zayn took out a napkin and wrote his number on it. He handed it to her, watching her read the number.
"Text me." He called out to her while she unlocked the door.
She nodded and walked inside, smiling at him. Once she closed the door, Zayn drove off.
'Well, this was a totally different night.' Evie-Mae thought, smiling as she quietly walked up the stairs to her room.
