2. Chapter 1
I woke up to my dog barking out my living room window. I checked my phone. It was freaking 7:56 in the morning! On a Saturday! I went to the restroom and washed my face with warm water. I dragged myself to the living room. My dog was barking at the mail man. I groaned. I was tired. Of my annoying dog. I took her to the backyard. And went back to sleep. Or so I wanted to. The doorbell rang. I groaned again and dragged myself downstairs. Again. It was the mailman! Doesn't he have a life! I opened the door. "Delivery for Diamond Martinez." He said. I took the package and slammed the door. He rang the doorbell again. This time I yelled,"What!" He backed away a little. "Y-You forgot to sign the paper." He said. I signed the paper and closed the door with my foot. I sat down on the couch. I started ripping open the package. It had a letter that read:
I found this in your mother's old room and thought you may like to have it. I know there's more, as soon as I find the rest, I'll mail them to you. I just want you to know, you're not alone. We all miss your mother. Here in this package is the diary and an airplane ticket. I think it's best you move in with your aunt. We've talked it over. Am only a couple hours away from your aunt's. I'll see you soon.
Sure enough, there was an airplane ticket and a book. I hugged the book tightly. A tear fell on it. But it wasn't mine I turned around to my brother standing behind me. "Was that mom's?" He asked. "Yeah." I responded. He took a seat next to me. "So,you're finally home for once."I broke the silence. "Yeah, I had no where else to go and I need I take a shower, anyways." "Am moving to California." I blurted out shutting my eyes. "What?" He got up. "It's not like you'll notice anyways, you're never home." I turn away from him. "But,but you can't." He sat back down. "Am sorry but the decision is made, am moving in with Aunt Vivian tomorrow. It's not like it was even my choice, it was grandma's." I could tell he was crying. "Brandon, you weren't there for me when I needed you, now you want to be here when am leaving?" I raised my voice. He didn't answer for a while. "Look D, when mom passed away, I felt like I had nothing else to do in life, you know how the three of us were so close. And being at home, just reminded me of her too much." "I know how you feel, and it's four of us including Sky." I said the last part quietly, this was not a time for correcting. "I just want you to know, that I do love you. Your my little sister,D." He said looking down. I knew he meant that. We hugged and I went upstairs to start packing. I saw my door open. It was Sky. Brandon must've let her. "Hey girl." I said petting her. "What are we gonna do with you?"I didn't know wether to leave her with Brandon or to take her with me. No, Brandon would probably never take care of her, he's never home. Plus, I love her too much. She's a part of the family. I remember when mom gave her to me. Four years before she passed away. With that I finished packing. By the time that happened, it was midnight. I had a long day tomorrow.
Good night Diary.
