By the time we were top-side, I must have at least lost three pints of blood. We were all being hand-cuffed, so we couldn't escape. We were divided into different areas of the for circles, I was on the right, and separated from everyone else. We were carrying heavy aluminium, cheap buckets off our bloods, and we had to place them in the circle at all costs. We were blocked off by mini stone pebbles that must have taken forever to place down. This place looked too easy to escape from now that our hand-cuffs were off. But as I noticed someone running towards the edge of the circle- roaring fire shot up from the ground, spitting ash towards us as a threat. I scattered back a little, avoiding the fire from catching me.
"L-Laney?" I heard a voice ask hesitantly. I recognized that voice. It was a woman's angelic voice. I spun my head around, blinking in horror, I crawled towards her- looking astonished.
"Christine- is that really you?" I asked, with tears running down my eyes. Christine looked traumatized, she didn't know what to think. I could see that she was shaken stiff, full of shock. She managed a quick nod.
"W-what is g-going on?" She stammered, limping towards me as she crawled. I shook my head, pointing that I didn't even know the answer.
"I think a ritual- please- listen to me, when you have the chance," I paused as I noticed some supernatural being groaned in agonizing pain, his back was being snapped- I closed my eyes tight shut to stop those horrid images from consuming my mind. I glanced over towards a witch, who was casting the ritual spell- and her nose was bleeding- almost as if it was a bad side-effect of what she had been doing. I turned to face Christine again, who was listening to me intensely.
"Run," I breathed. Christine nodded slowly. I glanced over towards Rick, who was walking towards me with a huge smirk across his face, he knelt down so he could look me straight in the eye.
"You're the key for my hybrids... I've waited five hundred years for this day to come..." He said, moving his lips round so that his words were loud and clear. I avoided looking at him, I couldn't stand to see that smug look on his face. I shook my head in disbelief. I gritted my teeth together in anger, I struggled to say anything. I was too focused on that horrid face of Rick's, and that alcohol stench from his breath. I closed my eyes tight shut, hoping this was just one of those unforgettable nightmares. The type of nightmares of where you had to run- run so fast until your lungs burst into confetti or millions of tiny glass pieces.
"Rot in hell," I spat, hesitantly scattering backwards. Rick smiled faintly at me. He was immune to fire, because, he walked just right in it- but I was pretty certain the witch had something to do with the barrier.
"Don't you dare talk to your creator like that," He growled deeply, tormentingly extending his fangs. He snapped his head towards Christine quickly, forming a wicked grin he walked over towards her. I instantly knew what he was going to do- and I screamed. Screamed so loud I hoped someone could hear me. Someone was bound to, right? Rick forcefully picked up Christine by gripping at the back of her neck, and I knew she was trying not to show any signs of pain. I avoided looking at him, and I was trying to show to Rick I didn't care of what he did anymore. I tried to show him I gave up. But by my actions, Rick brushed his fangs against Christine's neck, and drove them into her flesh.
She didn't even scream.
But how did I scream?
Christine body froze in shock, after Rick drained her blood, she looked like a grey, light feather. My heart stopped for a second, and my heart beat was just slowly pumping. Christine's body was thrown on the floor in an awkward heap. He bit into his wrist deeply, and shoved it against Christine's mouth, making her drink the blood unwillingly. He kept his wrist there until he was certain some of his blood went into her mouth. After he was done with Christine, he threw her body to the ground again. In a manner of seconds, she gasped and breathed heavily for air, panting nervously. She glanced around the scene, and her eyes were laid onto mine.
"What happened?" She asked, feeling her neck as she gained consciousness. I didn't know what happened. I knew what happened, I just didn't how how to describe or explain it to her. Rick smiled, although it looked more like a smug.
"You're a newborn Vampire," He started, folding his arms as he glanced down at Christine. "you're going to be my new hybrid soon,"
Christine gasped, and struggled to say something. She collapsed on the floor again as she tried getting herself up. This was probably more frightening to her than it was to me. I glanced over behind me, seeing three figures come from the distance. Shane was there. And he had blood running down from the two corners of his mouth. He was holding a gun of some kind, but there was a stranger with them. As they came more into the light, Rosen and Samantha was there too- holding weapons. There was an older woman, tanned, thick curly hair that led up to her shoulders, and she was wearing a plain and simple outfit. She was muttering something in a language I couldn't understand, but whatever she was saying, I was almost certain that it had an effect on Rick's movement. He was massaging his temples, and he was on the verge of collapsing on the ground.
" We picked her up after we killed some badass vampires in the cave," Shane stated- glancing towards me as if he was proud of himself. He clutched tightly on his gun, aiming it towards Rick. He was choking badly, and shaking violently. He placed his hand firmly on his stomach, gripping it tightly. The witch that was casting a spell to the barrier, didn't pay attention. It was like something was controlling her actions. Rick gasped, his golden-brown eyes grew wide in agonizing pain. Shane pulled the trigger on his gun, and roaring fire spat out of it towards Rick- who was instantly having some sort of spasm, but he still wasn't dying. In an instant second, after he regained his strength. He was gone. In a blink of an eye, he vanished. I hurried over towards Christine once the barriers were down, and I was cradling her in my arms- trying to comfort her.
"We're okay Christine..." I smiled faintly and a single tear came from my eye. She was trying to keep her eyelids open- as if her eyelids felt heavy. I shook my head, trying to get the negative thoughts out of my head. Rosen placed his hand on my shoulder from behind softly, making sure that I wasn't going to snap or something I guess.
"She isn't going to make it... Laney..." He explained softly. I shook my head, still keeping my eyes on Christine- who was motionless. She didn't even say goodbye. I tried hiding my tears, but I failed terribly.
"let's get out of here," Shane stated quietly and softly. I hugged Christine's body closer, but Shane tugged her body off me. "I'm sorry Laney, we'll bury her body and the others and give them a funeral,"
"I'm Zoe, by the way- and I'm a witch, you may need my help," A voice I recognized said from behind, making me glance over towards her. She was the girl I spoke to in the cave. The only thing I could have managed back then was a smile and a nod- letting her know that she was allowed to become part of our group.
"Let's go now," Samantha stated softly, whilst helping the other people get back on their feet.
I nodded faintly, and pulled myself up from the ground, whilst Rosen took Christine in his arms, bridal style- and we all walked, including Zoe, back to school where Rosen's car was parked.
