I screamed in horror, realizing that Rick had taken Laney. Samantha jerked back slightly, and her facial expression was expressionless. And so was Shane's, but I could tell, he was angry. In fact, frustrated with our ex and Rick. He whacked his hand violently against the marble like wall, and screamed out of his lungs. I stepped back a little, closer to Samantha.
"We didn't even have any physical contact, or anything- why are they here?" I wondered, thinking of possible theories. I noticed Shane's facial expression turn guilty, gulping slowly, I find myself asking that question towards him.
"W-well... teaching her slaying- I might have... teasingly... gave her a love bite..." He trailed off uncomfortably, folding his arms. I turned towards Samantha, looking disgusted, I noticed her wincing a little in agony- and she was crouching down as if she was trying to prevent her pain consuming her entire body system. I shook my head at Shane, trying to focus on Samantha's and Laney's problem was on my list right now- not him. I'll deal with him later. I crouched down next to her, trying to sooth her pain.
"I- I see something," She breathed fast, gulping down a lump of air. She tried massaging her temples, as if she felt something pounding violently there.
"What?" I asked, jerking back a little.
Samantha screamed again. "I notice Laney, she's in an underground cave,"
I had a brief idea where she must have got taken- somewhere far in the deep woods. Samantha had pictured a forest with tall and lanky trees, golden crispy leaves scattered everywhere around the floor, and not a single sign of greenery in place. She told me there was a beaten up, old crooked shed, and a cellar leading down where Laney and a few others were taken hostage.
Shane walked out for an hour or so, and walked back in with weapons like, stakes, crossbows, flamethrowers, ninja stars and holy water.
"Dibs with the flamethrower,' He stated, gripping it tightly. It was almost like that my brother and I shared the same brain. Shane was grinning like a lion hunting its prey. Samantha looked astonished, almost as if she had seen something cold-hearted. I couldn't help but form a wicked grin. Shane tossed me two silver coated stakes, and a crossbow. He gave Samantha three crosses, holy water squirt gun, and a stake. I could see why Shane gave Samantha the weak stuff, because well, she hasn't killed at all. We were trying to keep it that way too.
After packing various different types of weapons and resources in a black huge rucksack, we pulled ourselves into my black Porsche, driving towards the old high-school.
"Why are we going to my school...?" I heard Samantha ask in the back, sounding confused. I focused on the road ahead, glancing over to Shane, I knew he was instantly going to answer the question for me.
"A short cut out back into the forest, it's the closest way back into the underground place where Laney is held," Shane explained bluntly, gazing over towards Samantha. Looking in the mirror shade above my head, I noticed her blinking in surprise and she sunk back into the black leather seat. No one said anything until we pulled up at the back off the high-school, that had been only a few inches away from the woods that we were about to venture in any second now. I twirled my car keys around so the engine would stop, and nervously pulled myself out of the car. Shane followed on after me, and he went to grab the weapons and resources that were in the boot. Samantha was the last to get out of the car, and she was twiddling around with her thumbs- which was easily a sign for me to know that she was scared. I placed my hand on her shoulder, and she blinked up in alarm.
"It'll be okay, we'll get Laney and the others, and we'll get out of here," I smiled warmly at her, reassuring her doubts. To be truthful, I had no idea whether it was going to really be okay. This has happened twice before, and we failed both times, hence why we aren't with anyone now. I'm not going to think of the worst possibilities that could happen- because that would just weaken me. Samantha slowly nodded and walked over towards Shane, completely ignoring our conversation.
"Here are your weapons- careful Sammie, you're in for a bumpy ride," Shane grinned wickedly at her, but Samantha didn't even try to manage a smile.
When we were at the underground cave, where we believed everyone was being kept held, Samantha tripped over a few rocks and sprained her ankle, letting fresh blood drip softly to the damp, stone-cold ground. Shane's eyes flickered with horror.
"Shit, Samantha- you're bleeding," He breathed fast. I knew why he was getting scared, because, blood attracts vampires, this place was probably crawling with them. Samantha shrugged- the type of shrug where it looked like she didn't care about it.
"So?" She asked bluntly, folding her arms uncomfortably. I tensed up softly, I was trying to suppress my negative emotions from running out freely. Shane rolled his eyes.
"Blood attracts vampires- therefore you're going to be dead meat if they find us,"
"I'm surprised Shane pays attention," I heard a stranger's British voice purr wickedly towards him. Although, I wasn't really sure who he was aiming that pathetic insult towards- so we turned around to see one of our old arch enemies that worked with Elizabeth, and he was now working for Rick.
His fangs were extended to full length, and he was instantly going to make a move on to Samantha.
