Several days have passed since their sudden departure, they only had a few more minutes left before they were there.
Hailee was lost in thought when the carriage lurched from a bump and she fell forward. She let out a gasp before Gabriel's arms shot out and wrapped themselves around her, catching her.
"Something on your mind?" He laughed. She blushed,
"Actually yes," She admitted.
"Well, what was it about?" He asked, his full attention on her.
"This whole guild and the people. I don't know if I'm cut out to lead," She told him. He rubbed little circles into her back for comfort.
"I'm sure you will be fine leading by my side, plus I won't make you lead alone," He stated.
"Before you were rescued we appointed someone to help ease you into leading again," He smiled. She frowned and folded her arms.
"You're not pleased with this?" He asked her. She shook her head,
"I'm not a child Gabriel. I don't need someone to follow me around, telling me what to do," She said. He sighed, knowing full well how stubborn she was.
"It's not like that, Hailee," He paused for a moment, grasping the air like he would pull words out of it. "It's more like you lead and she gives you suggestions. She won't boss you around," He tried to soothe her. She hesitated for a moment before finally nodding and setting her arms down.
She felt a tingle go down her back between her wings. Her eyebrows shot up, a hiss followed suit. His arms found her sides, just above her waist and he tickled her.
"Gabriel!" She shouted before she erupted into a fit of giggles.
"I won't let you be upset, have some fun," He said, laughing.
She shouted curses, kicked, clawed some more before she almost pushed it on him.
"I said knock it off!" She shouted triumphantly as she held him a distance away from him. Suddenly he just stopped and stared at her, not even attempting to attack her sides.
"What?" She asked him. She hated when people would look at her for too long, "What are you staring at?"
"You," Was all he said before he cupped her face with his hands and kissed her. She hardly had time to react. They both let out a slight sigh and her fingers laced together behind his head. He ran a hand through her hair, his kisses soft and loving.
She noted how their breathing seemed to sync and the kissing became more intense. Her hands trailed down and went up his shirt, prompting him to remove it. He lifted her up so she was facing him on his lap. His hands unzipped the dress and he was fumbling with the clasp.
"Gabriel," she whispered. He let out a low growl in his throat,
"I missed you so much," He said.
"Not here," she told him. Her forehead was pressed up against his. He made a noise in protest.
"Fine, I'll respect your wishes. At least let me hold you for a little while longer then," He spoke quietly. She nodded, allowing him to hold her close to him. Her chin rested on his shoulder and the fall wind seemed to find its way into the carriage and send shivers down her spine.
"Tell me, are you at least excited to see everything?" He asked Hailee.
"I am excited, but a leaders duties are not easy," She told him.
"True, what about your new home?"
"It will be big I can tell already by how far away it is, but you will be there with me," Hailee smiled and kissed his cheek softly.
"You can make anyone smile, do you know that?" He told her.
"No, I didn't," Hailee said, her smile becoming more of a blush. She let out a yawn,
"How much longer until we are there, Gabriel?"
"Soon, I want you to be awake when we arrive though so don't fall back asleep," He asked and she nodded in response. There was a long silence, you could hear the hooves of horses as they trotted along, not bothered by the weather in the slightest. If you were quiet enough you could hear Sarah and Cole talking among each other further ahead.
"What does everything look like?" She asked him finally.
"The guild is a big mix of all powers and skills, we categorize them and put them in there own, unique clan where they are trained by a main leader," He told her.
"What kinds of power?" Hailee asked, knowing full we she was sounding like a new born. She couldn't help it though, she was being soothed to sleep. The rhythm of his heartbeat and his fingers drawing circles on her back wasn't helping either.
"Well we have the main elements in sections and we divide people from there, as for all the powers, there is too many to name in such short time, you will learn them though," He told her with a smile. "You have no idea how big Dark Skies has gotten," He told her.
The carriage slowed and you could hear the hooves hitting the ground to stop. Hailee gasped,
"Gabriel my dress," She whispered in a harsh tone. He laughed, shushed her and redid her dress. Just in time. The doors opened and a small boy with pointed ears and little transparent wings stood there, a hand out to take Hailee's
"Welcome to Dark Skies, goddess Hailee. It is an honor to meet you," He spoke, bowing. She looked around.
She had underestimated the guild ten fold.
