A grunt escapes my lips as two peacekeepers yet again drive my body against the bold soaked wall. If I weren't so weak and confused, I would be able to tell it was my blood.
"What do you think now? You still think you're better than us?" One of them yells in my ear as they let me to the floor. My arms inadvertently wrap around my torso trying to hold in the pain, but it only escapes as screams.
"I..no...I didn't." I choke on my words, crouching over myself and spilling out all that is left of what little I ate in the arena. I haven't seen a morsel of food since arriving, and this is what I get for asking for some.
"You get food, when we say so, understand?" The other teases, slapping me hard across the face. My hair whips with my head as I'm spun from the blunt force. My knees give, and I'm on my stomach, sprawled out like a pig to slaughter. My artificial leg is in pieces to my side.
My muscels ache with every breath, every beat of my heart. I'm beginning to think I can't take it anymore, when I hear anther scream. It's a girls, in the room next to me. Is it Katniss? No. If it were her, they would've shown me her being beaten. Why should I care, it's not like she did. She said so herself. Turns out that my memory of that day wasn't real. She made me dream it. Snow explained it himself.
Katniss had never loved me, all she cared about was winning the games and saving her life. I was just a piece in her game. She shot me with an arrow that day, making me black out. I dreamt that she was scared and needed me to hold her, when really, she just needed herself. But somehow, I still think I need to help her. Even if she betrayed me, she still saved my life more than once.
"Looks like Johanna's awake." One of the peacekeepers laughs, and I hear the door slam behind two pairs of footsteps. So it's Johanna, they have her too. Then were is Katniss? I have to find out, and it's going to be soon, when Snow shows up for my next interrogation.
"What is going on!" I scream at the top of my lungs. If Snow did anything to Katniss I swear he will pay. I don't care what happened, all of that doesn't matter. What matters is that she isn't dead. I owe her too much for her to be dead because of me.
"Your little montage has played out long enough, Mr. Mellark. Your significant other has seemed to set fire to our arena, and our society." He smirks, showing off a set of blood red teeth. I yank on my chains once again.
"What do you mean?" I grunt at the force of the restraints holding my body to the cold metal chair beneath me.
"Ms. Everdeen has started a war, and is somewhere in another District. As for yours, well, she couldn't be there," He laughs, and I know what he means. The uprising has started, Katniss escaped the arena, and I am in the Capitol at the mercy of President Snow.
