3. Online Petion and neighbors

Two days after the "talk" with my parents,  I signed an online petition to save Marius.

There were already over 20,000  signs. It was really warming to see how many people cared. It made me wonder how many people I could get to support this cause.

I decided to start with my neighbors, Tyler and Grace. I thought, "Hey, why not start with someone I know really well?"

I walked over to their house and they invited me inside. As soon as I sat down I told they my  cause.

I told them all about what they were planning to do,and why. I told them that there even were other options. Thankfully they listen through it all.

When I was finished, Tyler just said "Um.... Okay."

But Grace was the real story. She just looked at me for a second. Then mumbled to herself. Then, she slowly asked, "Really?"

"Yes," I answered calmly, "The place where we used to have lots of fun and joy, is killing a baby giraffe. Remember in kindergarten we went on a field trip there? Do you remember the fun we had? Now just think, that same place is killing a healthy animal, when there are other options."

Grace made a face I couldn't read, but then she said something I could."That's insane!" She said, that is cruel, that is EVIL!"

I would like to say she yelled, but my friend doesn't yell. What she did do though, was make a ghastly face that really made her look angry. "Is there anything I can do to stop this?" She asked. "Well, you can help me spread the word. Help me convince people this is wrong. The more people that know about this the better," I answered.

"Sure! When do we start?"

"Soon, very soon." Then I smiled. One person down, the rest of the world to go!
