There was a knock at the door, and I ran to answer it. When I opened it, there stood Harry and a red-eyed Karen. I stood aside and they walked it. I felt so bad for Karen; Michael may be a dick but he’s still her son. No mother deserves to see their son lying in a hospital bed.
Karen went off to talk with Edna and John. I expected Kate to join Harry and me, but she stayed chatting with Karen, Edna and John. Harry and I exchanged confused looks but went up to my room anyway.
“What’s up with Kate,” Harry asked as we entered my room.
“I don’t know, she’s been acting weird since we got back from the hospital,”
“Weird,” he said taking a seat on my bed.
I sat next to him and Butter jumped up onto my lap. I pet her and she started purring. Harry went to pet her but she let out a loud hiss.
“Butter, what’s gotten into you,” I said and sat her on the floor. “She never hisses at anyone.”
“Animals don’t usually like me,” he said and laughed.
“So, how’s Karen holding up,” I asked changing the subject.
“Not too well, I heard her crying last night; I felt so bad for her,”
“I know I should feel bad about this whole thing, but he’s just too much of an asshole to feel pity for,” I said truthfully.
“I know what you mean,”
We sat there in silence not really knowing what to say. Just as I was about to speak up, Kate walked in. She sat next to me, and she look like she’d been crying. I don’t know why she’s so sad about Michael I thought she hated him as much as Harry and me.
“Kate, why do you care so much about Michael,” I asked not wanting to stay quiet anymore.
“That’s not of your business,” she snapped.
“I just want to know why the hell you feel so bad about him. It’s like you like him or something.”
“Will you just shut up,” she yelled and stormed out of the room.
“Well then,” I said and the door slammed.
“Just ignore, she probably doesn’t mean any of it,”
“That doesn’t explain why she’s acting like that though,”
“Maybe we should go on another date,”
“Now, while all of this is going on,”
“Yeah, it’ll help take your mind off of everything.”
“Yeah that sounds nice.”
“Okay well I’m going to go back to my house and go back to sleep because I woke way too early.”
“So I’ll be back at seven,”
He smiled as he left. As soon as he closed the door I lie back in my bed and fall asleep again.
I woke up when my alarm went off a six-thirty. I got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. I took a shower and stepped out. I put my hair up into a towel and proceeded to do my makeup. I dried and straightened my hair then pulled it up into a ponytail. I put on some black skinny jeans and a white t-shirt.
Right as I was finishing up getting ready, the doorbell rang. I ran downstairs and opened it before anyone else could. Harry was standing there in black skinny jeans and a black t-shirt, with black boots. All black is a good look on him.
“So I figured we probably shouldn’t leave the house since the whole witness protection thing, so I set up a nice little picnic date on the roof.” He said as he stepped in the house.
He set up a date on the roof? I just went with it and followed him up the stairs. We walked through my room out to the balcony. He gave me a boost up on the little roof above the balcony. I gasped when I saw the roof. There were candles and a blanket, there was even a little picnic basket. Harry soon joined me on the roof and smiled at the look on my face.
“This isn’t too much right,”
“Not at all, this is perfect.” I said smiling.
We finished eating and lay back against the slanted roof behind us.
“So tell me about yourself, I feel like at this point we need to know more about each other,”
“Well I’m originally from Brighton, that’s why my mum named me Brigh. I don’t really like my name. Anyway when I turned eighteen I moved to Whitechapel. I got a job at that little café, and everything was going great until that one night last month. I don’t understand why all of this is happening. What if the killer goes after my family, what if they’re in danger because of me,” My breathing started picking up.
Not now, I can’t be having a panic attack now.
“Brigh are you okay.”
“I’m having a panic attack,” I said breathlessly.
“Brigh look at me,” I looked him while trying to catch my breath.
Before I could think or speak, his lips pressed against mine. He pulled away and I was finally able to catch my breath.
“W-what was that?”
“I read somewhere that when someone is have a panic attack you should cut off their air supply that way they have to catch their breath,”
“But I’d like to do that again, if you’d like to,”
I nodded and leaned in, are lips were soon pressed together again. We both pulled away and smiled at each other.
“Wow,” we both said at the same time.
I slightly shivered at the air got cooler as the sun went down.
“Are you cold?” Harry asked putting his arm around me.
“Just a little,”
“Maybe we should go in,”
“Yeah, it’s getting a bit too cold for me,”
We jumped back down to the balcony and into my room. I was about to walk out but Harry spun me around.
“Brigh, I want you to know that I will never let anyone hurt you ever.”
I smiled and pulled him into a hug.
