"You're what?" Lilly asked, she could feel her knees giving in as she sank to the floor. Annah sat next to her.
"Yeah. I'm pregnant."
"Excuse me?" Lilly looked up, squinting her eyes.
"Why the hell didn't you tell me Annah?! Did you not trust me? Or are we even friends?" Lilly tried to keep her voice from breaking out into harsh shouts.
"No, no! I was going to tell you. But-"
"But what Annah? You didn't tell me. There's no buts." Lilly interrupted.
"I know I didn't." A tear rolled down Annah's cheek.
"I was afraid. Do you know what it's like, Lilly? To feel like this everyday. To feel ashamed, to feel forgotten." Annah hissed at Lilly.
Lilly looked up at Annah's face, shining from her tears.
"I accept you. Don't be ashamed." Lilly whispered.
"W-what?" Annah couldn't believe what she was hearing, she was sure Lilly was going to be joking and scream in her face.
But she didn't.
"It's okay. You're pregnant and it's okay. I kind of see why you didn't tell me."
"You do?" Annah sniffed.
"Yes." Lilly replied. "I do, Annah."
Annah hurled herself at Lilly and hugged her best friend tightly.
When they pulled apart Lilly could feel a damp spot on her shoulder where Annah's salty tears had trailed.
"Just. No more secrets, okay?" Lilly asked.
"Okay." Annah replied, looking at her feet.
"Anyway, there's more important things to worry about." Lilly sighed.
"Really? Like what?" Annah raised an eyebrow.
"Umm. Let me think... You!" Lilly said sarcastically.
"Me?" Annah asked, confused.
"Yes! You! We have to make sure you're okay for a start!"
"Oh. Oh yeah. Of course." Annah said, her voice distant.
"But Annah?" Lilly asked cautiously.
"Yeah?" Annah looked up with a small smile on her face.
"Who's the father?"
Any sign of the grin Annah had plastered on her face not long ago disappeared.
"Uhhh...." Annah was stalling.
