Moving Out/Moving In
Without hesitation, I moved out. I packed up my things, and left. I told the boys that Carmen had allowed me to move in, and that she thought it would be good for Mehmet if I did. He and I were finally getting back to being the friends we were once. He was a good lad, and because of all the bad things he’s had to face and endure through, I wanted to take care of him and make sure he was safe, and ok. I didn’t want to walk out of his life again, like I had two years ago, leaving him to face challenges that he was still too young to face on his own.
“Look, we’re not sure if we’re going to stay here ourselves” said Liam. “I just spoke to our mates, and they don’t feel comfortable with Lulú being around, not after what we spoke about outside the hospital.”
“Well Louis is a nutter if he thinks I’m staying. He didn’t believe me when I said it, and he taunted me with text messages.”
“You know, he’s different with Lulú, and not in a good way.”
“I know…and after what she did, and now I know more than ever that she did frame that boy. And believe me, I’m going to expose her for the criminal that she is.”
“Be careful” Liam warned. “I just have a feeling that she might actually be dangerous.”
I almost asked him why he felt that way, but then didn’t, because I felt it too. “Just be very careful.”
“Tomorrow we’re going to try and find a place…I’m not sure I can even sleep here tonight, knowing she’s just down the hall.”
“Try and be careful mate. I mean that” I said, knowing I was repeating myself. I just simply could not help myself.
“I will” he said. “I’ll call you.”
“Ok” I said, grabbed my bags, and headed to my car. As I stepped out of the house, Lulú appeared out of nowhere.
“So, I hear you’re moving out because I moved in” she smiled sarcastically, her tone laced with malevolence.
“And why do you care?”
“Well, I hate to be the one who’s making you leave” she laughed. “But then again, that little brat seems to be more important to you. Oh…what’s his name?” she pretended. “Oh yeah, Mehmet…the thief who stole the money” she smirked.
“Why don’t you stop with the sarcasm?!” I demanded. “I know you were the one who framed an innocent fifteen year old of a crime he never committed!”
“You have no proof of that!” she let out that same evil smile.
“No, but if there’s one thing that I know to be true!” I gritted my teeth hard, walking closer. “It’s that the truth…no matter how hidden it might be, sooner or later it always makes its way up to the light!” Now she looked scared. “Believe me, I know you did it, and trust me when I tell you that I will find a way to prove it!”
She looked uneasy, but she shook it off. “Good luck with that!” she chuckled. “And without proof, Louis will never believe you. Then again in case you haven’t noticed, I have him in my hands. And he won’t break away that easily!”
“Maybe not, because if there’s one thing that Louis is, is blind. But trust me, nothing stays hidden for long. So you better prepare yourself because one day, your luck’s going to run out! Of that, I can assure you!”
With that being said, I walked to my Range Rover SUV, and drove off. On the way to Mehmet’s house, all I could think about was how I was going to expose Lulú for the criminal that she was. It seemed so ironic at times how Louis always accused Mehmet of wanting our fame, when he did not even want that to begin with. Yet, it was very obvious that Lulú did, and he was blind to that fact.
Tonight, our new music video for our new single Why I Love You, was going to be launched, and we were going to have a launch party. I wanted to bring Mehmet with me, but at the same time I didn’t want to expose him to Louis’s ridicules, but especially Lulú’s.
Further thinking about Mehmet’s terrified expression upon seeing her, made me realize that he always in a sense had a good intuition about her. Sure, he never really said much, only that he thought she was a bit scary.
Arriving, I grabbed my bags, and walked up to the house. No one was home, and decided to go to what was going to be my new room. It felt like home to me. It was pretty comfy and relaxing.
I spent the next hour putting my stuff in place, went back to the car to get other things, and finally my room was in its place. I heard some footsteps from outside. I went to see and it was Mehmet. He walked into his room, took his shoes of, and immediately he lied down. He took a few loud deep breaths. Immediately, I could tell he was frustrated about something. Then again, kids often times bullied him, which also helped me to understand why he was untamed. He felt it was the only way to show others that he wasn’t helpless.
He turned and looked at me. “Hey.”
“Are you ok?”
“I am now.”
“Let me guess, bad day at school?”
He nodded. “I’m so sick and tired of people’s attitudes and well…getting bullied.”
“I’m sorry” I sat next to him. “Is there anything I can do?”
In the past, he would have responded with something witty like ‘Make the all disappear’, but he was a little more grown up now, so it appeared that the lack of wittiness, was a sign maturity.
“So you’re finally living here, huh?”
“Mhm…yes. So it looks like we’re gonna be housemates.”
“Who’d have thought that we ever would be” he chuckled.
“Yeah, especially after not having seen each other in so long.”
“Well it appears we’re back to…” he paused for a moment. “…being friends.”
I was relieved. Now, I knew that we were moving forward, and not moving backwards. Now, our friendship seemed to be somewhat stabilized, and I was going to ensure that it stayed that way. “I’m happy to be here” I tapped his arm.
“I am too” he said sullenly.
He looked at me. “I’m kind of worried…actually, scared is more like it.”
“She will never be able to hurt you again. I will make sure of that.”
“Thanks, but it’s not what I mean.”
“Then what do you mean?” I frowned.
“Well” he rose up. “I guess I’m scared of something standing in the way of our friendship, again.”
“That’s never going to happen” I assured him.
“Don’t say that” he shook his head, staring down. “Don’t make promises. My brother made them, told me he would always be here for me, but as you can see, he’s gone.”
“He’s still with you.”
“He’s gone. I can’t feel him, and I can’t see him. And even if he is watching over me, it’s not good enough.”
“I understand your feelings. But you can trust that I will always be here for you for as long as I’m alive.”
He didn’t seem convinced or assured. All I saw was fear and worry. He rose up and tried taking off his pullover sweater. He was struggling, so I helped him out. He lied down back down again, and wiped some sweat of his forehead. He took a deep breath, looking like he had a lot going on in his mind. “What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing” he said staring at the ceiling.
“Are you sure?”
“Come on Mehmet, you don’t have to pretend with me.”
“Ok, you’re right. I am worried, actually, scared is more like it.”
“What’s scaring you?”
“I rather not say it.”
“Zayn” he covered his eyes. “I just wanna pretend that all is fine.”
“Lulú’s return has you feeling scared, doesn’t it?”
He stared at me with angry eyes. “You just had to say it out loud.”
“So I’m right.”
“So you wanna tell me what’s scaring you?” He got up and walked by the window and opened it. “Talk to me.”
He sighed loudly. “I’m just worried that we’re going to be separated again.”
“That’s not gonna happen.”
“I thought I told you just now not to make any promises you might not be able to keep.”
“I’m keeping this one.”
“What makes you think that you can?”
“Because you’re important to me.”
“Yeah right” he said sullenly. “I’m not important to anyone.”
“That’s not true.”
“Mehmet, please just tell me what’s going on inside that hard head of yours.”
He looked at me for a long time before speaking, then said, “Fine, is that’s what you want, then that’s what you’re getting.”
“I’m scared and lonely. The reason, because I’m scared that you’re just gonna walk away again, because again I’ve gotten attached to you. And that’s what I’m afraid of, losing you.”
“I already told you that you’re not going to lose me.”
“How can you say that? You immediately walked out of my life two years ago when you guys’ money ‘mysteriously’ showed up in my backpack.”
“And I know now that you didn’t do it.”
“How do I know you’ll continue to believe that? There’s no hard evidence at all to really confirm I didn’t do it. Of course I know I didn’t do it. To begin with, I didn’t even know that money existed. But then again there’s nothing that’ll completely exonerate me either.”
“You think too much Mehmet. I was an idiot to not have believed you. Because I realized that you never knew about that money, and because of how Louis treated you, I knew he never told you and nor would he ever tell you.”
“I don’t know what to say, but it’s not enough for me.”
“Have some faith” I chuckled.
“Honestly, I don’t have faith in much anymore.”
“Don’t say that. You can be assured that I’m never going to leave you again.”
“What if Lulú stands in the way? I know she did it that one time. What if she does something else and then you doubt me yet again?”
“That’s never going to happen. And one way or another, I’m going to expose Lulú, and make sure Louis knows how much he’s messed up!”
I laughed at his witty comment, but of course he wasn’t. He was still too scared and unable to believe that I was never going to leave him again, that he was allowing himself to further sink into this dark place that he’s been in for so long now. He went back and lied down. I lied down next to him, and I was immediately surprised he didn’t push me away when I put my arm around him. If anything, he seemed to feel safe with me next to him. If me being with him made him feel secured, then I would stick with him no matter what. Maybe in time, he would realize that I was never going to abandon him to his luck, again.
I started feeling a bit tired. I closed my eyes for a bit, but the fatigue started wearing me down.
I was running around in Wembley Stadium. Mehmet kicked had the soccer ball, and was doing quite well in trying to hit a goal. He was quite good at sports, and was an awesome soccer player. He was proficient in Skateboarding, as well as in Basketball, and loved to go swimming too. The lad could be described in two words. He was talented an agile. He was sharp, and in sports nothing ever escaped or ran passed him.
“Come and get me if you can!” he chuckled, tempting me to come after him.
I ran to him, but he headed toward the net, and scored his goal. He beat me, and of course I wasn’t surprised because he was that good.
I went to get a drink of water, and grabbed Mehmet’s water and turned to hand it to him. Suddenly, he was gone and I could not find him anywhere. “Mehmet?!”
No answer. I continued yelling, but again there was no answer. Fear started to creep into me. My friend, who was like a little brother to me, was suddenly gone. Where the hell did he go?
I ran off to see if I could find him, but again he was nowhere to be found. I started crying, yelling out his name over and over again. Again there was no answer.
"He’s never going to show up! After all, you did abandon him when he needed you the most!” said a familiar and evil voice. I turned around. It was Lulú, laughing and smiling.
“What do you want?!”
"Just to tell you that you’re never going to see Mehmet, and he’s never going to forgive you for believing that lie about him” she smiled evilly.
“That’s not true!”
“Oh, but it is true Zayn!” she smirked. “He’s gone.”
“NO!” I yelled.
“Then look around, see if you are in fact able to find him. After all, ¿qué no tiene un Corazón Indomable?”
Yeah, Mehmet had an Untamed Heart. I had to be there for him. Mehmet tiene Un Corazón Indomable. It was the reason why I worried about him so much. He wasn’t that much younger than me, but he was still a teenager. And teenagers weren’t exactly known for their self-control.
After running and yelling out Mehmet’s name several times. Finally, I found him. He turned around and smiled at me. He immediately ran with open arms. I opened my arms to him, and just as I was about to hug him, he disappeared right before me. I was suddenly hugging myself. That was when I realized that something was very wrong here. I heard Lulú laughing. Only I couldn’t see her anywhere at all.
“I told you…he’s never coming back to you. Then again his untamed heart is so hardened, he will never forgive you for how you hurt him!” Lulú laughed.
“No, that is not true!” I yelled. “MEHMET!” I yelled out at the top of my lungs. “I’M SORRY. I DIDN’T MEAN TO ABANDON OR HURT YOU! MEHMET!”
I suddenly woke up with a bang. For a moment it felt as if the entire room was spinning out of control. I was sweating. Then I realized that it was all just a bad dream. Still, the dream seemed and felt so real, it was scary. But what was scarier to me, was that Lulú was there. I looked to my side at Mehmet. He was still sleeping soundly. I lied back down and closed my eyes. I tried calming my racing heart down. I didn’t know how to do it. But I had to at least attempt it.
Closing my eyes, I tried going back to sleep. Then, someone burst open the door. Opening my eyes I freaked out. It was a girl whom I had never seen before. She completely ignored the fact I was there, and woke Mehmet up by shaking him. “Wake up!”
“What?!” a confused Mehmet woke up.
“We need to talk now!”
She grabbed and pulled him by the ear. “Ow!” said Mehmet.
She looked at me and for a moment she looked surprised, and that was when I realized that she knew who I was. Only at the moment she didn’t seem to care. Clearly, she had a bone to pick with my boy.
The two of them walked out of the room, her still holding him from the ear.
