As I float in the black, straying closer and closer to the light, a voice pierces the silence.
"KATARA!", it rings with need and fear.
I open my eyes to pain, and a man over me with a knife. He slashes it over my arms again, but all I can do is cry out, louder this time.
He grins down at me evilly, but that's the last thing he does.
He suddenly falls to the side, and I look up to thank Aang, but he isn't there.
A familiar face gazes down at me, and I'm surprised to see concern plastered on it's features.
Prince Zuko. The man who has been chasing us, trying to kill us all. And now he's my hero.
Flashes. That's all I see.
Zuko looking down at me, his tears dropping onto my skin.
Zuko begging me to be okay, telling me I'm going to be just fine.
Me boing carried by Zuko, pressed hard to his chest.
Zuko snarling at Sokka as he tries to take me.
Zuko holding me as we fly on Appa, his fingers drumming softly on my cheek.
The last time I wake up, something catches my eye. I look up to see Zuko's scar.
My hero shouldn't have to have that cruel reminder of his past. It's wrong. I need to get rid of it for him.
Not even thinking, without any water, and without asking, my hand presses against his cheek, and I heal it.
The skin pulls tight and the discoloration disappears.
His body convulses, and I feel as if a piece of me has been ripped away.
I look up into his eyes and watch as a ring of blue wraps around his pupil, contrasting beautifully with his golden eyes.
He reaches up, blood red fire gloving his hand, and grabs my arm.
What should burn, what should make me scream in agony, just doesn't.
I feel the heat, but notice something more prominent.
My skin knits back together where ever the fire touches me.
Zuko seems to see it took and puts me onto the saddle gently.
His hands touch everywhere I'm hurt, but Sokka suddenly rears up out of nowhere and hits him.
"Stop! What are you DOING?"
Zuko gets back up, but Suki pulls Sokka away from him.
"He's healing her, baby. Watch." She looks up to Zuko, "Hurry. She won't make it much longer if you wait."
Zuko's hands are now on my chest, relaying skin and erasing the pain.
I try to sit up, but he holds me down with one hand on my shoulder.
"I'm not finished. Wait." He's distracted by something near my heart, and I relax back into the saddle.
His hands hover over my collar bone, and I feel a tug inside me.
A rush of heat slams through me, and I gasp in shock.
Music sings in my ears, and I wonder if everyone else can hear it.
"What did you do? What was that?"
He looks down at me sweetly, and my words fail me.
His fingers brush my cheek, but this time the heat isn't from fire.
He rocks back onto the balls of his feet suddenly, then he's on the other side of the saddle.
For a reason I don't know, I feel almost rejected.
Sokka quickly replaces him at my side, searching for any hints of injury on me, and Aang, Boulder, Toph and Suki swiftly close the circle.
Appa drops softly, but I peek through my friends and see Zuko take the reigns, obviously knowing what he's doing.
I lay back, putting myself on auto pilot as I answer questions, my mind stuck on the way Zuko's voice sounded when he pulled me back from the darkness.
